Welcome Back! Starring Gabe Kaplan

Gabe Kaplan started out as a stand-up comedian, appearing in nightclubs and on television. Growing up in Brooklyn gave him the idea for a television show, Welcome Back, Kotter. He based the characters on his high school class and cast himself as their wise-cracking teacher. The rest is history as the show rose to the top ten and remained there for four seasons. Gabe went on to star in the films Fast Break, Tulips and Nobody’s Perfect while continuing to perform stand-up in Las Vegas and Atlantic City as well as touring with the show, Groucho which became a well-received HBO special. Opening for Gabe is his daughter, singer Rachel Kaplan. Rachel’s voice has been described as a mix of smooth soul and jazz and it has been said that she has a sense of humor as good as the music itself.

Real simple tale to tell, last night Jeff Eats, Mrs. Jeff Eats, Daughter Jeff Eats and Son Jeff Eats “discovered” Lazy Dog Restaurant & Bar and the joint’s food, service, decor blew us away! For the record, Lazy Dog currently has 28 California/ 4 Colorado/ 1 Georgia/ 2 Illinois/ 2 Nevada/ 6 Texas/ 2 Virginia locations- with 5 month old- Boca Raton being its latest opening!

If you guys can keep a secret- I kinda think I know my sports bars/ gastropubs/ American-Style joints and I’m telling you that this 10,500 square foot facility- inside booth/table/hi-top seating, huge outdoor covered patio- table seating, tvs, full liquor bar, reasonably priced appetizers/ salads/ sandwiches/ burgers/ entrees/ desserts/ take-home frozen TV dinners/ Saturday- Sunday brunch menu is an absolute must try!

Like I said 37 seconds ago, Lazy Dog Restaurant & Bar is an absolute must try!

Got a real good American-Style joint for you guys to checkout, Burtons Grill & Bar which opened 6-weeks ago in Boca Raton.

Great looking free-standing building restaurant which seats something like 300 featuring an open kitchen/ a full liquor bar/ table & booth seating/ a menu loaded with reasonably priced- appetizers, soups, salads, sandwiches, entrees, paleo dishes, vegetarian dishes, gluten free dishes, desserts.

Like I said 2 seconds ago, Burtons Grill & Bar opened 6-weeks ago in Boca Raton- that said, this joint isn’t Burtons owners’ first rodeo in that they also have 13 other Burtons Grill & Bars spread-out over Massachusetts, Connecticut, New Hamphshire, Virginia, South Carolina and North Carolina!

Long story short, last night Jeff Eats, Mrs. Jeff Eats and two other couples did-dinner at Burtons and I gotta tell you, its food and service were right on the money! Just between you guys and Jeff Eats, unless my hearing is going- during and after the meal I didn’t hear even one single bitch about “anything”- so Jeff Eats is kinda thinking that Burtons Grill & Bar has a winning formula figured out!

Let me wrap Burtons Grill & Bar up for you guys- by telling you that the joint is open Monday-Thursday 11:30am-10pm, Friday-Saturday 11:30am-10;30pm, Sunday 11:30am-9pm- and you can checkout menu/prices/info at burtonsgrill.com.

Got a real good “mom & pop” red sauce Italian joint for you guys to check-out, Aunt Lulu’s NY Style Pizza & Kitchen in Boca Raton.

Real simple tale to tell- last night, Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats “discovered” Aunt Lulu’s NY Style Pizza & Kitchen (located in a requisite bombed-out South Florida strip center) and I gotta tell you guys- that the joint’s food was- delicious! Inside table seating/ small handful of outdoor tables, reasonably priced menu featuring appetizers/ soups/ salads/ pizzas/ calzones/ strombolis/ hot & cold subs/ wings/ entrees/ desserts/ other stuff!

Like I said 2- seconds ago, the joint’s food was absolutely delicious…

Last but surely not least, Aunt Lulu’s wait and back of the house staff was off-the-chart good! Despite the masks, dine-in orders and loads of take-out orders, the crew was extremely competent and super-pleasant in taking care of business!
