    Bought 4 $25 tkts.
    Should be a fun show.

  2. My husband and I are really looking forward to seeing The Poptarts. We love the music of the 50s & 60s especially the girl groups from the era. We’ve been to the Arts Garage and it’s a great place to see a show. It’s just the right size for the audience to see and hear everything.

    Jeff,
Liz a member of The Poptarts recently joined another band as well called The Wolfpack. You should check them out, really good Doobie Bros era type of song list. See you at the Arts Garage. 6 of us picked up tickets and we’re thinking food from Sazio’s Pizza which is right down the block from the Arts Garage.

    Jeff,
Can’t believe that you haven’t been to the Arts Garage before. It’s a great place to see music acts. I saw The Poptarts awhile ago at Blue Jean and they were fun. When I saw them they needed to tighten their harmonies up. Have fun.

    Jeff,
My gf and I are going.
We had never heard of the Arts Garage before you mentioned it.
Bringing your own food etc sounds interesting.
Were thinking food from Doc’s which is 2 minutes away on Atlantic and Swinton.

  6. My wife and I have been to the Arts Garage a number of time. It’s really a hidden gem if you’re into intimate music acts. We love that you can bring your own booze and food as well. Just bought 2 seats for The Florida Poptarts. The group definitely covers the music that we love. Looking forward to meeting Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats at the show. By the way, we are bringing food from Zinger’s Deli in Boca Raton which makes the best pastrami and corned beef sandwiches in all of south Florida.

    Jeff,
Thanks for the heads-up on this show. My husband and I love 50s & 60s girl group music. We are gigantic Shirelles & Crystals’ fans. There aren’t any really top notch girl tribute acts working in south Florida. The Florida Poptarts may find a huge market for their act if they can deliver a first class show. We’ll be there Sunday night.

  8. Bought 2 table seats.
Really looking forward to seeing this group.
By the way, my bf and I have been to the Arts Garage a number of times and it’s a really good place to see shows. Very intimate and every seat is good. I also love that you can bring your own food and beverages.

Other than The Rythum Chicks who are average at best, I can’t think of any girl groups in s Florida covering the 50s & 60s.
Really looking forward to seeing The Poptarts. I love the music of the girl groups of that era.

    Jeff,
The Arts Garage sounds like a perfect venue for Johnny Contardo one of my all time favorite singers.

    ***** Johnny Contardo *****

Now, I may be going out on a limb here… But one of the most underrated singers in Rock N Roll history has to be Johnny Contardo who was the lead singer of Sha Na Na from 1971 to 1983. Now many of you guys may think Jeff Eats has lost it, but as a huge fan of 50s & 60’s Rock N Roll music, Johnny’s singing prowess has to be rated right up there with that of Roy Orbison, Frankie Valli and other greats of that era. If you do some “You Tube” checking, you will find that although Jon “Bowzer” Bauman was known as Sha Na Na’s leader, it was Contardo’s tenor/falsetto leads that made the group a huge television, recording and concert act.

You can check Johnny Contardo’s website http://www.jonnycontardo.com for audio/video/personal information.

In November 2011, the Woodfield Country Club in Boca Raton invited the semi-retired Los Angeles based Contardo to perform at the Club backed by local party band The Fabulons. Just so you know, I saw that 1-hour performance and suffice it to say Contardo absolutely killed it.

The reason that I am now mentioning this “old” story…I just learned that Huntington Lakes (condo community) in Delray Beach has signed Johnny Contardo to perform there on Saturday, October 20, 2012. I have no other details…

Like I said before, the Woodfield Country Club “brought” Contardo to Florida…apparently, Huntington Lakes is now doing the same thing. From what I can tell, Contardo isn’t on a circuit tour of South Florida.

All I know, is that in this day and age, it is getting harder and harder to “see” the true legends and greats of Rock N Roll.

If this type of thing is your bag, check with Huntington Lakes http://www.huntingtonlakes.com and see if you can get to see Johnny Contardo in this very rare public appearance.

I saw Contardo a year or so ago on a theme cruise. He’s aged since his Sha days. His voice is still pretty decent but nowhere what it was years ago.
