Rappy’s & Junior’s Restaurant (Boca Raton)

* Rappy’s & Junior’s Restaurant.

A recent e-mail received by Jeff Eats…

Jeff,

Long time reader and long time Boca Raton resident.

Just curious as to why you haven’t yet reviewed either Rappy’s or Junior’s Restaurant both New York Kosher Style Delis which recently opened in Boca Raton?

Both joints seem absolutely perfect for Jeff Eats’ thoughts.

Thanks for the great blog site,

TURNER

______________

TURNER,

Both Rappy’s and Junior’s are on Jeff Eats’ radar- eventually I’ll get to them!

To be perfectly honest with you, both Rappy’s and Junior’s had “friends & family” and other pre-opening “tasting” events- none of which Jeff Eats was invited to attend!

Trust me when I tell you, I really don’t need Rappy’s or for that matter Junior’s free-offerings to “eat”- that said, I do consider it a bit of an insult- to Jeff Eats (and all of you-readers) for us not to have had the opportunity to “get” the story at first-light! By the way, Jeff Eats has “looked” at both restaurants and I gotta tell you, I was very impressed with Rappy’s build-out/location- an absolutely gorgeous store…as for Junior’s, sorry to say it looks-like your “run of the mill” Florida bagel joint/lousy location (with a separate liquor bar thrown in for good measure)!

Like I said 2-seconds ago, Jeff Eats will eventually get to both Rappy’s and Junior’s- and good or bad “tell” Jeff Eats’ readers the real Skinny!

Thanks for reading…

    Jeff,
Both are overpriced joints serving lousy food.

I ate in both last week and couldn’t believe how my wife and I wasted our money.

The above is probably why they didn’t want you there. They didn’t want your thousands of readers to know.

  2. ksr says...

    Rappy’s average food. Way overpriced.

  3. Anthony Franza says...

    Junior’s sucked.
If it didn’t have the big REP it would be out of business by now.

  4. Steven G says...

    Jeff,
My wife and I ate in Junior’s and it was mediocre at best.

  5. Arnold Gold says...

    Jeff,
Based on its food, prices and horrendous parking, if Junior’s wasn’t a huge tourist draw name the restaurant would be getting ready to file for BK.

  6. Murray Strauss says...

    Rappys = Expensive.

Seriously it’s a FL deli with NYC price and nothing to back it up.

  7. Don G says...

It’s a toss up as to which one is worse.
I had high hopes for both. Didn’t play out that way.

  8. Kevin M says...

    Jeff,
    Rappy’s overpriced mediocre food.
    Junior’s same story.

  9. Andy D says...

Junior’s pastrami on a roll was delicious as were it’s ff.

  10. Cheryl S says...

    Both were lousy.
My husband and I ate at Rappy’s last night and at Junior’s last week and were very disappointed with both restaurants.

Jeff, You didn’t miss a thing.

We won’t be going back to either one.

  11. Greg T says...

    Jeff,
I ate at Rappy’s last night and really enjoyed everything.

  12. Grossman says...

I live 2 minutes away from Rappy’s. Haven’t tried it yet, but the restaurant is really great looking. So far Ive heard mixed things about the food and across the board complaints that prices are way too high from my neighbors.

  13. XCDE says...

Why in the world would two new deli restaurants not make it their business to get Jeff Eats in there to try the food pre-opening? Talk about dumb marketing people.

I’m in marketing and these Family & Friends deals are a huge waste of time. Basically just a bunch of freeloaders come to eat. Unlike a guy like Jeff Eats who actually can help a new restaurant because of a huge readership these Family & Friends clowns can’t influence a soul.

Just in case Junior’s or Rappy’s PR People are reading this, there are very few blog sites in Florida that are involved in restaurants and entertainment that have more power/influence than jeffeats.com. How do I know this, over the years the response to Jeff’s columns to various corporate headquarters for clients Ive handled has been enormous.

    • XCDE,
You hit the nail on the head. There is only a very small handful of sites in Florida that have any impact on a new restaurant or show in Florida and Jeff Eats is one of them.
Most of the blogs in Florida are written by kids who have no idea as to what this “business” is all about.
Also interesting to note, most of of the PR firms involved in this area are also a waste of time, they have no pull whatsoever.

Good luck to Rappy’s and Junior’s.

  14. Gary Goldberg says...

    Jeff,
No offense, just read reviews for both on YELP and the reviews are mixed with a bias on the negative side for both.

  15. Ezra W says...

Jeff, I ate in both joints this past week. The food at both sucked. That’s why they didn’t invite you to eat there. They don’t want people to know before hand what crap they are serving. Zinger’s and Ben’s both in Boca run circles around Rappy’s and Junior’s.

  16. Deli Expert says...

    Overpriced sheeeet in both restaurants.

    Service was A-OK.

As I said previously, Overpriced sheeeet in both restaurants.

  17. I tried both.
    Overpriced just passable food.

  18. David W says...

    Jeff,
Ate at Rappy’s last night with my wife. 2 sandwiches (pastrami and corned beef), 2 French fries, cheese blitzes. Everything was delicious. Very nice looking restaurant and good service. Prices a drop on the high side, but nothing to get too pissed at.

Why in the world Jeff Eats the premier food blog wasn’t asked to various pre-opening events is beyond comprehension.

  19. Mr. Cohen says...

    The parking for Junior’s sucks.

  20. Larry Fine says...

    Jeff
Have to agree with you Rappy’s is in a great location while Junior’s in Mizner Park is a really bad spot.

  21. Deliman says...

    Tried both.
Ben’s and Zinger’s both in Boca put them to shame.

  22. Jeff,
Stopped by the new center where Rappy’s is located and checked Rappy’s menu. They must be nuts trying to charge prices that were listed. Definitely not running to eat there. By the way, very nice looking restaurant with both inside and outdoor patio seating.

  23. Barbara W says...

I ate in Rappy’s and loved the food. A drop on the expensive side.

  24. Allie G says...

Rappy’s great looking joint, mediocre food, outrageously high prices and average service.
Once was a enough for me.

  25. Nat Edwards says...

Rappy’s got a great location and is a great looking restaurant.

    Junior’s is just the opposite.

0n the food front both restaurants are serving up just average food at super high prices.

  26. Gregory says...

    Junior’s

Wow! What a disappointment! Just as bad as the other faux deli here in Florida Toojays. How could this place survive in NYC where Carnegie and Katz’s and others are the real deal?
Corned beef and pastrami were indistinguishable one from the other here. They look alike and have no flavor either. The rye bread was like Wonder Bread. Potato salad was like rocks with Miracle Whip, cole slaw not worthy of the name.
Maybe the cheese cake will keep them alive
Service was excellent. Cheerful and efficient. Maybe FAU students.
    Never going there again

  27. Ed A says...

    Jeff Eats,

    I haven’t gotten over to Junior’s yet.

I tried Rappy’s today for lunch.

Pastrami on rye was good. I had the oversized Sandwich which ran $20 which was a bit steep.

I also had french fries which were good.

Very nice looking decor with inside/outside bar and seating.

  28. BWS says...

    Jeff,
As I mentioned to you at breakfast this morning both restaurants were lousy.

Looking forward to your reviews on both.

  29. Steven Robinson says...

Both were nothing special foodwise and overpriced.

  30. Carl F says...

    Jeff,
Two dumber than dumb marketing departments.

The best food blog in Florida absent from preopening events, stupid beyond belief.

  31. Al V says...

    Jeff,
    I tried both.
    Food not good.

  32. Jules From Boca says...

Just ate in Rappy’s. They should rename the joint Crappy’s.

Somebody better get a hold on this joint and get the lousy food straightened out.

  33. Jay Cramer says...

    Jeff,
The only difference between Rappy’s and Junior’s and the Titanic is that the Titanic had a band.

  34. Danny T says...

    Rappy’s whitefish salad is delicious.

  35. Cool Aid Kid says...

    Jeff,
Anyone who writes and tells you that either Junior’s or Rappy’s is a top notch Deli has no idea what a top notch Deli is all about. These 2 restaurants aren’t even close.

  36. Of the two, Rappy’s is better. But neither one is as good as Ben’s or Zinger’s both in Boca Raton as well.

  37. Jeff,
Had a ton of family in for the holidays. We tried both Rappy’s and Junior’s. Both were just fair and way overpriced. Not one of us was impressed. I live in Boca Raton and was really looking forward to trying them.

  38. Ray C says...

    Jeff,
You want the real deal in Boca you go to Ben’s or Zinger’s not Junior’s and Rappy’s.

I recently had a hamburger at Junior’s and corned beef at Rappy’s and both were absolutely nothing special.

As I just mentioned, Ben’s or Zinger’s they are the real deal.

  39. Louis S says...

    Jeff,
    Here’s why you weren’t invited to Junior’s…

Yesterday for lunch I was expecting to bite into the best corned beef sandwich ever, and I was surprisingly dissapointed. Although the meat was piled high, it was extremely dry with no taste whatsoever. My wife’s roast beef sandwich was also piled high with a similar dry tasteless meat. Overall, the prices are above average, service is mediocre, and food is nothing to write home about.

  40. frankw says...

The pastrami sandwich at Rappy’s was way overpriced, hard and dry. The potato pancakes however were perfect.
The pastrami sandwich at Juniors was less expensive and excellent The fried calamari was the best I ever had.

    • frankw says...

Had the potato pancakes at Juniors. Inedible.

  41. Andy Landon says...

    I live in Boca Raton.
    I tried both Rappy’s and Junior’s.
Both are average at best. Nothing terrible but nothing so special that I would be running back so fast. Based on the local competition both have high prices.

In my opinion Zinger’s in Boca Raton and Ben’s in Boca Raton both legit NY Kosher Style Delis run circles around both Rappy’s and Junior’s. Way better food and more reasonable prices.

  42. Allan Horowitz says...

    Jeff,
Both restaurants are great looking. Rappy’s is definitely in a better location. Junior’s is basically a tourist destination.

My wife and I ate at Rappy’s last night. Rather than going into detail, our meals were decent enough, service was good and the prices were on the high side.

Will we be steady Rappy’s customers? Nope! There is better food at much better prices in Boca Raton.

We have not tried Junior’s yet.
Mizner Park has lousy parking and we really don’t enjoy having to park in a free garage which has parking spots literally designed for midget cars.

Both restaurants have well known management teams behind them. For their sakes I really hope both figure out the formula that will work in Boca Raton.

  43. Cindy Q says...

Both were fair. Nothing terrible but surely nothing that would have my husband and me running back for a second round.

  44. Krause says...

    Rappy’s sucked.
Junior’s also sucked but not as much as Rappy’s sucked.

3G’s runs circles around both of them.

  45. Deliman says...

Corned beef on rye at Rappy’s pure garbage. Dry with no flavor.

    Same Sandwich at Junior’s delicious.

  46. David D says...

Rappy’s matzo ball soup sucked as did its turkey on rye. Won’t be back.

Junior’s is up next for a try.

  47. Lou K says...

Last night at Rappy’s had a roast beef on rye with French fries and both were delicious.

  48. Michael Stevens says...

Junior’s was okay last night. Both my wife and I enjoyed our food she had cheeseburger w/ff and I had corned beef on rye with ff.

  49. Bug eye says...

    Rappy’s pure garbage.
This is not a New York deli.
Should be ashamed to even say such a thing.
It’s nothing and any person who say’s
it’s good does not know. “Jack”

  50. Paul V says...

    Jeff,
Tried both. These joints are only for non NY tourists who don’t know any better because the food sucked.
