A recent email…

Jeff,

My name is __________ and I am the president of ___________HOA located in Delray Beach.

At a recent BOD meeting, it was voted that we should schedule a themed music event for all residents. The event will be held outdoors on a Saturday night (in either January or February) at our community pool. We don’t have a social director and have never planned such a large event in our history.

The BOD would like to hire a Motown band for 3 hours.

I was wondering if you might be able to recommend a good band for the event?

Food for the event will be handled by an outside caterer and we are expecting close to 300 to attend.

Our budget for the band is $________.

Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Based on your location and budget…take a very close look at The Motowners based in South Florida (blackswanspecialevents.com).

The Motowners play doo wop, disco- and do tributes to Motown acts such as The Temptations, The Supremes, Smokey Robinson, The Four Tops and Michael Jackson. Jeff Eats has seen the group a number of times and it puts on a good show and is extremely professional. Just so you know, The Motowners have both a live band show as well as a track show-with the track show costing less than the live band-either way-both are well in the budget that you mentioned. In addition, there are different 5-10 performer configurations that you can choose from. Personally, I think that the male vocalist unit is the strongest.

Finally, if this group is of interest to you, I would suggest that you go see them “live” before making a final decision.

Good luck with your event.

Jeff, the group is performing a free track show at Meatball Room in Boca tomorrow night. I saw them a few weeks ago at gamaroff’s in Hallandale Beach and they are excellent.

Saw the female part of group tonight they used tracks.
    Just fair.
A ton of flat and off key singing.
But hey what the heck, They aren’t The Supremes and the show was free.

Caught the show at Meatball Room last night. Good show and the pizza was delicious. Not an empty seat inside or outside.

Saw The Motowners at Meatball Room.
They put on a good show.
The men are much stronger singers than the women are.
Meatball room had a full crowd last night.
A group of six of us went and the food and service was very good. We shared appetizers and pizzas and everyone had a great time.
Meatball Room is doing a terrific job putting on these type of shows. Very professionally done with good solid food and service.

  5. I’ve seen a The Motowners a couple of times. The women aren’t very good. They aren’t the best singers and really butcher some songs . On the other hand the men singers are very good and do a nice job on the hit record covers. So this group in my opinion is a mixed bag.

My wife and I went to see the group at Meatball Room. The male vocalists are very good the female vocalists are very weak. We enjoyed the food and the show.

We were just standing watching the show. We left after the 3rd female song. They were terrible.

  8. Jeff,
This past Saturday night a group of us went to Meatball Room for dinner. This was our first time eating there as we had heard mixed comments about the food and service. First up, all 6 of us enjoyed the food and service. We had a number of appetizers and a few pizzas and entrees. All was good and based on the food and service we would definitely come back.
Meatball Room had a free Motown show which was outside. We ate inside so only caught parts of the entertainment. The female’s were extremely weak. They aren’t very good. I’m no music expert but they were often singing off key and have very little power in their voices. The male vocalists were very good and did a nice job on the covers.
All and all a very pleasant evening and we look forward to Meatball’s next show offering.
