Orient Kitchen (Boca Raton)

Posted on March 10th, 2014 · Boca Raton Chinese

Orient Kitchen, 3013 Yamato Road, Boca Raton, Florida 33496, (561) 241-9933.

Two of the worst south Florida-Chinese restaurants that Jeff Eats has gotten food from are Orient Palace, 3013 Yamato Road in Boca Raton (reviewed: 7/6/08) and 5 Spice Asian Street Market (reviewed: 12/12/09), 1200 Yamato Road in Boca Raton. If you want, you can can check the reviews for yourself.

Anyway…

About a year ago, Orient Palace (which was a takeout) closed–and shortly thereafter re-opened with a “face-lift” and a new name -Orient Kitchen. Not sure on this, but I’m also assuming-new ownership for Orient Kitchen.

Anyway…

This evening -Jeff Eats got around to trying Orient Kitchen taking out…wonton soup, egg rolls, roast pork fried rice, pepper steak, sweet & sour chicken, bbq ribs…and I gotta tell you, every “dish” was lousy. As you know, it’s kinda hard to describe “lousy”–so let’s just say, that this joint’s stuff wouldn’t-even taste good if eaten cold the next morning!

In preparing this story, I reviewed Orient Kitchen’s website www.orientkitchenboca.com for various info–and lo-and behold, the site invited me-to “also” visit the owners’ other restaurant-5 Spice Asian Market.

Don’t say Jeff Eats didn’t worn you!

Gluttons for punishment, Orient Kitchen is open Monday-Friday 11am-9:30pm, Saturday noon-9:30pm, Sunday 4pm-9:30pm.

Jeff, I live in the Woodfield Country Club which is right next door to the shopping center where Orient Palace takeout was and where Orient Kitchen is currently. Over the years I got food from Palace a number of times. The food was just fair but the location was very close and easy. The other day I just picked up some wonton soup from Kitchen and it wasn’t very good. Personally, I’d rather get the takeout from either Bamboo Wok or Gary Woo’s which aren’t too far away. On that Spice Market, I ate there years ago and one time was enough. The food was really bad.

Strange thing is that the Orient Palace that used to be on Federal was quite good. Like now closed Gary Woo on Federal and Gary Woo Express Surprised that 5 Spice and Orient Kitchen are still open.

Orient Kitchen’s food isn’t great. It’s standard Chinese takeout. My wife and I live two minutes from its shopping center so its a very convenient location for us. Like its predecessor Orient Palace its food gets the job done when you are in a hurry to pickup something. As you have mentioned Bamboo Wok in Boca is a terrific takeout. That’s the joint we hit when we have time to drive over there to pick it up.

    Ok but nothing special.

I live in Broken Sound Country Club which is about 3 minutes away from this takeout. I had not been in there since the remodel/new owner until last night. My order was wonton soup, egg rolls, spare ribs, sweet & sour chicken. MEDIOCRE AT BEST. The food was barely passable. I love Chinese food and I find most takeouts in the area to be pretty good. For some reason the food was tasteless to me and had a stale feel to it.

    Jeff,
They make some of the best BBQ ribs I’ve eaten in Florida. They are as good if not better than the ones I grew up on in Brooklyn from 1951-1997. Try them they really are delicious.

    Jeff,
I live 2 minutes from this takeout. I pickup from them maybe once a week. Their food is decent. The one item that is absolutely terrific are it’s Bbq ribs.

    Jeff,
    Give the joint another try.
I live 5 minutes away and for the past year or so takeout at least once a week from there and the food is really good.

    Best ribs in South Florida.
Over the past 30 years Ive eaten in tons of Chinese joints here in south Florida. I am telling you that Orient Kitchen makes the best ribs of any joint Ive been in.

    Tried for first time yesterday.
Just got 2 quarts of wonton soup.
Decent enough but nothing to run back for.

  21. Vinnie B says...

    Lousy food.
    Nice owners, but lousy food.

  22. Frank Guiliano says...

The food was tasteless.i told the lady and she just ignored me.wont return there again.

  23. Jack Cohen says...

Tried for the first time, wonton soup was way too salty. General Tso’s Chicken was bland and literally tasteless. Bbq ribs were decent but nothing special same for the roast pork fried rice.

Conclusion, just another run of the mill Chinese takeout.
