Argentinian Deli (Boca Raton)

***** Argentinian Deli, 501 Northeast 20th Street, Boca Raton, Florida 33431, (561) 672-9003.

Go figure!-and Jeff Eats thought that…Argentina was only-known for hiding World War II Nazi war criminals and a Broadway show about some dictator and his wife.

Well, you live and you learn-

The other day, Jeff Eats had an absolutely terrific-lunch at an Argentinian “fast food” joint- Argentinian Deli in Boca Raton. Just so you know, Argentinian Deli is part grocery store/part deli/ part fast food restaurant with a handful of tables.

Right off the bat, I gotta tell you that Argentinian Deli makes some of the best empanadas that Jeff Eats has ever eaten…The joint has 9 different “fillings”-with a $6 special that gives you 3 plus a can of soda. Jeff Eats had- ham & cheese, beef, chicken with vegetables—and like I said, I can’t recall eating better ones down here in South Florida.

Argentinian’s menu also has all kinds of breakfast stuff, appetizers, salads, sandwiches/subs, entrees, desserts.

Being the reporter that he is, in addition to those empanadas- Jeff Eats also “tried”- 6″ chicken milanesa sub ($6.99 inludes one side plus soft drink) and 10oz. vacio steak plate ($11.90 includes one side plus soft drink) and I’m telling you, like those empanadas- the food was amazingly good.

You can check www.argentiniandeli.com for menu/prices/photos.

Let me sum Argentinian Deli up for you…

Part grocery store/part deli/part fast food restaurant.

The food is dynamite and dirt-cheap.

The joint is a HOMERUN!

Argentinian Deli is open Monday-Saturday 9am-7pm, Sunday 8am-2pm.

Finally, if Argentinian’s food is indicative as to what food in Argentina is/was all-about—Jeff Eats can appreciate why those Nazis ran there!

Empanadas are the best outside of Argentina. Sandwiches are excellent and the price is right .A few stores to the East is :La Rosa Nautica. The best Peruvian restaurant in Florida. Civeche and flank steak are terrific.Same plaza also houses Roberts candy and an excellent shoe repair shop.

Argentina is well known world wide for great beef and sausages. Ever hear of chimichuri sauce?

I only found this website a couple days ago. After reading a few posts, I have to be honest, and with all due respect, my impression is that you don’t know very much about food at all.

I can’t imagine how someone who never heard of Argintinian food, doesn’t know the difference between a vegan and a vegitarian and is a self-professed lover of carnival food can pretend to be an authority on local food.

Again, I’m not trying to be mean or difficult, but you have a long, long way to go before you can call yourself an informed food lover.

      chris:

You really don’t know what you are talking about.

Jeff Eats is considered by many to be one of the most provocative food blogs in Florida.

The site is written “tongue in cheek” with loads of inside comments and sarcasm.

If you don’t think that Jeff Eats was fooling around claiming not to know about Argentinian food, then you better think again. By the way, Jeff knows how to spell Argentinian while you obviously don’t. You also don’t don’t know how to spell vegetarian.

Jeff Eats has thousands of daily readers.
Jeff Eats has judged numerous food events.
Jeff Eats has been on numerous tv and radio programs.
Jeff Eats has made loads of personal appearances at various restaurants.
Jeff Eats is quoted in newspapers, magazines and other food blogs.

AND, you don’t think that he knows what he is talking about.

      You’re a fool.

My response to you would be that millions of people love Rachele Ray. Now if you tell me that you consider her to be an important voice on the food scene, I will understand you perfectly.

    • Sid L. Turner says...

      Chris,
      get lost.
      Jeff’s the man!

    • StinkyJones says...

Hey Chris, What’s wrong with carnival food?

      • chris says...

Obviously I struck a nerve with some of you folks who seem to be real JeffEats supporters. You are more than welcome to your opinions, as am I, as is Jeff. I don’t have to agree with you and I don’t.

I have as much right to express a critical opinion as you do a positive one. I can tell you, I have read several articles on this site and if I had the inclination to do so, I could point out numerous errors, misstatements and areas of ignorance.

You can claim that this is just shtick, and if you would prefer to read a dumbed-down food blog be my guest. I would prefer to hear some thoughtful discussion on the food scene here in South Florida.

By the way, I have nothing against carnival food, or any type of food. I appreciate it all top to bottom. That being said, however if you tell me your favorite kinds of food are burgers, dogs and generally anything that is fried, while at the same time claiming ignorance of more exotic food cultures, from my standpoint you are not a person worth discussing food with.

I hope you all continue to enjoy this post and I have nothing against JeffEats specifically, other than the fact that I was hoping to find what I would consider to be a more interesting food discussion and was disappointed.

        • TURNER says...

          Chris,
You are obviously on the wrong site.
          Read Jeff Eats’ “About Me.”
This site isn’t looking for the upscale dumps that you seem to be looking for.
Take care and don’t let the door hit you in the ass on your way out.

          • chris says...

            Turner,

You are correct. After reading that I get it, and you’re right, this is neither the site nor the crowd for me.

I fully support your right to read reviews written to the lowest common denominator, only dimly aware of what you are eating or how it is made.

I wish you only the best, and that you should enjoy your deep fried Twinkies in good health.

        • Jonesey says...

chris, time for you to move on. bye!

          • Frogman says...

            Chris
            You just don’t get it.
Most people could give a rat’s ass about how their food is made. Taste is all that counts.
Let me make this real simple.
When you buy a BMW do you have to know how it was built? Nope. All that matters is how it looks and drives.
            Now you take care.
