Yogurtland (Coral Springs, Pembroke Pines, Winter Park)

When it rains, I guess it pours…one cupcake joint opens, another cupcake joint opens…and another and another and another…one self-serve yogurt joint opens, another self-serve yogurt joint opens—

Yogurtland is a “self serve” yogurt chain. Check www.yogurt-land.com for flavors/locations…for right now–for our purposes, there is a Yogurtland in Coral Springs, another in Pembroke Pines, another in Winter Park…but rest assured, in the coming months, many-more Yogurtlands will be rolled out.

I tried the Yogurtland in Coral Springs 3- Saturdays ago. I got there about 3pm and there must have been 30-35 people in the store getting yogurt. There were also 10-15 sitting outside eating yogurt…I “watched” the store for over 30 minutes and the folks just kept coming in…The way it works, you get a big cup—fill it with any combination of yogurt flavors (there are 16 daily rotating ones) and toppings—fruit, candy, nuts…get the cup weighed and pay 30 cents an ounce.

I am not a yogurt-fan…that said, I tried, vanilla, chocolate, strawberry and this-yogurt was one of the best that I have had. I will tell you, I also liked the “look” of the store…which you can check at Yogurtland’s website.

Personally, I think that this self-serve yogurt stuff will prove to be a huge fad…when this particular “game of musical chairs” ends- who knows, but I’ll bet you a green-tea yogurt, that it will eventually end.

Anyway…in the meantime, the bet here is that in the not to distant future, a self-serve yogurt joint will be coming to your neighborhood…you do remember video stores, don’t you? Same idea.

If yogurt is your game, I think that you will really enjoy Yogurtland. This chain which currently has spots in 8-states has the formula worked out real good.

Yogurtland is open 7-days a week 11am-11pm.

I’m a fan of your blog and I’m subscribed to you so it’s how I came across this post. I do agree these yogurt places are popping up like wildfire and I wish there were more! I love paying by the ounce because I usually eat a small amount and it comes out cheap.

I don’t agree with how you compared it to a video store, though.

When there’s a “NetYogurt” that delivers yogurt to my home for a monthly subscription of $8, then that would be a fair comparison. Or when I can download yogurt to my computer and print it out so I can eat it. I doubt that’ll happen any time soon!

hey jeff, i own a retail business which is a few bays down from the yogurtland in coral springs. i just wanted to tell you that from day since it opened it has literally been packed with people. the line seemingly never ends. for right now its a goldmine. i also wanted to mention that it makes no sense to have the topping bar right next to the register. it really slows down the line. maybe the yogurtland guys know better than i do, but if it was away from the register people could move and pay more quickly. you are right the yogurt is delicious. the selection is great. those big cups really let people spend a ton of money because they fill them up like crazy without realizing how much they really are putting in those cups.

Clearly as always Jeff knows his stuff. I have not been to Yogurtland, but went into a similar place in Vegas. There have been so many of these fad ideas over the years. Once the area is flooded the fad ends. As mentioned here it can also get pricey. Remember Stone Cold Creamery used to have lines a mile long. Most of the frozen yogurt places closed a number of yrs ago. That is why Baskin Robbins are combined with Dunkin Donuts. And they offer all sorts of product and drinks. In fact the best time to sell that business is when things go totally bonkers saleswise. Some goofball will pay through the nose because of the excitement over huge sales.

Been to Yogurtland in Pembroke, but personally I didn’t think it was nearly as good as Menchies (both are on Pines Blvd). The latter is almost always packed, looks nice, and I think just has better tasting frozen-yogurt.

AR, you are on absolute crack if you think Yogurt land is anywhere NEAR pinkberry.

Still good! I have not had any issues with big crowds. I do see people taking lots of FREE taste samples on occassion though. Pricing more than fair.

I have tried quite a few and find Yogurtland the best and the cheapest. Especially loved the Hello Kitty promotion.

I also like that they have different sugar free flavors.

Tried the new boca loc tonight after eating at Nick’s pizz which is in same center. Good favors and at 34 cents an ounce a fair price.

  15. NBG says...

Forget about the yogurt. I just had the strawberry lemon sorbet in the Boca store by Town Center it was delicious. Could have eaten a quart right there in the store. By the way I paid 39 cents an ounce so it looks like from 6/2 they raised the price by 5 cents an ounce.
