Ice Box Cafe (Miami Beach)

Posted on November 19th, 2008 · American Breakfast Desserts Miami Beach

Ice Box Cafe, 1657 Michigan Avenue, Miami Beach, Florida 33139 (305) 538-8448.

I really don’t know if I like this joint or not.

Ice Box Cafe is what I call a YUPPIE joint, that serves brunch-lunch-dinner…Strike #1, Oprah Winfrey recommended this joint’s cakes. Strike #2, the menu has items like “Stuffed Croissant French Toast-filled with guava and cream cheese topped with butterscotch sauce $13″… Are you guys feeling me yet?

Take a look at Ice Box’s website at www.iceboxcafe.com for menu/prices/photos which should give you some idea as what this “hole-in-the-wall” joint is all about.

On this one, you guys are going to have to decide for yourself…As far as I am concerned, Ice Box is a bit-too South Beacheeee for this Brooklyn boy, but then again the cakes that it makes sure run circles around Entenmann’s stuff.

Ice Box is open 7 days a week.

I really did NOT like this place. It was WAY overpriced for what it offered, and the service SUCKED. They were slow, forgetful, and seemed put off by us. We were a group of about 10 on a mid-week night. The place was empty – you’d think they could be nice and fast, but no.

I don’t plan on going back.

  2. Hey jeffeats do you recall when Oprah recommended a book by a guy and then found out that the guy was a blatant liar and that the book was nothing but a bunch of crap? Well Oprah whose weight changes faster than a guy giving changing at a parking meter really knows crap about most things. Because this dope says that the cakes are the best in America doesn’t mean squat. I wouldn’t listen to anything she has to say. Based on her recommendation I definitely won’t step foot in this place.

Definitely not the best cakes in America.

The best cakes in America are from Antella’s.

My husband and I were craving something sweet and headed over there after seeing the “oprah review”. We actually walked blocks to get there and I talked it all up and was so disappointed.

I have had a good sweet tooth satisfied there before. There was absolutely NO ONE in the place, and the server at the counter seemed completely annoyed that we even came by to have coffee and cake. He was more concerned about setting up the tables. It took FOREVER….. to get service, I am a local so I don’t really expect that much. In order to pay the bill we had to get up and go inside. Too bad, will not be back.
