Tempura House serves both Japanese and Chinese food.
Now, let me tell you a little story.
Every year, Spanish River High School which is located in Boca Raton, holds an auction to raise funds for various school activities. Members of the PTO (Parents-Teachers-Organization) literally spend months “going” to various merchants in the “area” requesting merchandise and services as donations for the AUCTION. I recently learned “first hand,” about one student’s mother who (last year) “went” to Tempura House (which by the way, is frequented by many families who have children at Spanish River High School) seeking a “gift certificate” and was told by the “same man” on 3 different occasions that, “She should come back when the owner was in.” Let’s make this story “short. Suffice it to say, the mother never got a gift certificate and the “same man” was in fact Tempura’s owner.
Now I ask you: Do you really want to eat in this joint? I know that I don’t.
End of story.
I have a story of my own! Went there with a friend and the kids for lunch on a Saturday. We sat at the hibachi table and were handed dinner menus. I asked if they served lunch on Saturday and teh waitress said yes and gave us lunch menus. We ordered lunch. The waitress comes back and said “The chef does not want to prepare you lunch”. I thought I heard wrong or misunderstood so I asked if they do not serve lunch on Saturdays? She said they do but the chef makes a 10% tip on the food so he doesn not want to cook us the lunch portion. She then asked if we wanted to speak to a manager. Being that I did not want any spit or worse in my food I said no and we all left. even the people who were sitting at the table with us left. I called that night and the Manager seemed more upset that the waitress told us than that we weren’t served food. He called me back and said “I’m sorry”, that was it. This is about the third bad experience we have had there and it also gets bad health reports so even though it is convenient I will never go back there!
Tempura House is a ripoff joint. Food poisoning twice. And on three separate occasions sent half the delivery order and then argued that it was sent and that we were lying.
They are pathetic. Great Chinese businessman by the look of it. not.
Don’t waste your time or money. We know lots of fols who to there and have told them all our story and guess what? They have similar if not worse stories of being robbed or ripped off.
I have never eaten there but know from experience that a top tempura chef is a difficult find…..expensive also…..try one in NYC the next time you are there…..Anyone who has tempura and wants to know what it should taste like should never order it outside of a high class Japanese restaurant…..

hibachi is nothing special but nice and clean decor, worth going for hibachi but for real sushi, i goto japango, the one in regency court in boca is where i go.
I like Tempura House. It’s the only place in Boca that is clean and serves Chinese food.

HORRIBLE!
when they delivered my order they forgot the fried rice AND the california roll. I called them asking for them to deliver it and they refused because they said my order was TOO CONFUSING for the girl who was packing the food! I then asked for a refund for the two items and they still refused! After all that I became rude and the woman on the phone said she has no problem with never taking another order from my home again. You messed up my order, refused to deliver it and to top it all off NOT refund me! This place is insane! HORRIBLE SERVICE! NEVER HAVE SEEN ANYTHING LIKE THIS IN MY LIFE!
The food is lousy.
