Got a real good “mom & pop” red sauce Italian joint for you…Tavola Pizza in Port Saint Lucie.

Real simple menu–handful of appetizers, salads, wraps, subs calzones/strombolis, pizzas, desserts.

When you check www.tavolapizza.com you’ll notice no pastas/entrees.

Jeff Eats recently gave Tavola a shot and I gotta tell you that they make a delicious New York Style pizza (real-nice sweet sauce/thin crust)-a large 16″ runs 12 bucks.

With the pizza out of the way, let me tell you about Tavola’s garlic knots…AMAZING–trust Jeff Eats here, the garlic knots (listed as an appetizer) rolled with fresh mozzarella/parmesan/garlic) are as I said 1- second ago, AMAZING…I have never eaten garlic knots so delicious in my life, and trust me, Jeff Eats has eaten his fair share of garlic knots. The knots go for $.75 a piece–6 for $4.

Jeff Eats also “forced” himself to try Tavola’s meatball parmigiana sub ($9)–on its menu Tavola calls the sandwich a grinder-so don’tcha get confused by the verbiage. Like the pizza and garlic knots- the sub (I mean grinder) was delicious- freshly baked roll/pizza sauce/very tasty meatballs.

Jeff Eats loved Tavola Pizza.

One final thought, “a” Tavola Pizza near a college/university would be a money printing press. I can only imagine the damage I would have done to myself back in my Ithaca College days.

Got an absolutely dynamite coal fired pizza joint for you guys to checkout, Ah-Beetz New Haven Pizza in Delray Beach.

Real simple tale to tell, last week Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats “discovered” (1 eat-in/ 1- takeout) Ah-Beetz New Haven Pizza (which opened something like 3 months ago) and its food totally- blew us away! The no-frills joint has 2- tables (for 4) inside and a handful of tables outside. Reasonably priced pizzas/ calzones/ salads/ wings menu.

Now, you guys know, or should know by know- that this food reviewing “gig” is purely a subjective call…what I like, you may hate and vice versa!

With that in mind, I gotta tell you that the coal oven-pizzas/ calzone/ chicken wings, salads that we ordered- rank right-up there with the best that we’ve eaten here in Florida!

Trust Jeff Eats when I tell you, Ah-Beetz New Haven Pizza is an absolute must try joint!

* Humor!

A health center with a pool and exercise room opened in a small town. A week later, the Mayor’s Office received a letter from one of the center’s neighbors complaining that the center and especially its changing rooms were an affront to public decency!

The letter in part read, “I can’t look out of my windows without getting an eye full of naked women, such depravity, think of the children.”

A police officer was dispatched to the complaining man’s house to investigate. Absolutely nothing could be seen from his windows as the windows of the changing rooms were not just frosted, but painted black leaving maybe a couple of inches on top. When the officer pointed this out the man indignantly replied “just climb the bookcase and hold on to the ceiling fan.”

Got a good bagel joint for you guys…Broadway Bagels in Plantation which has been around for something like 33 years.

Jeff Eats and a couple of buddies recently ate breakfast there- and I gotta tell you that Broadway Bagels’ deli omelette ($7.99-corned beef/pastrami/Swiss cheese), blueberry pancakes ($6.99) and corned beef hash ($7.99) were all-right on the money! Throw in REAL GOOD sesame, everything and onion bagels- and Jeff Eats would definitely do a second-visit! Just so we are straight with each other, Broadway Bagels isn’t curing cancer or nothing here- the food is good-with its bagels (made the right way- hand rolled/ boiled/ baked) being the real “keeper” of this tale!-so if you go- don’t forget THE BAGELS!

Got a real good Italian joint for you guys to checkout, Patrizia’s of N.Y.C. in Deerfield Beach.

Simple tale to tell, last week Jeff Eats, Mrs. Jeff Eats and two other couples ate dinner at Patrizia’s and the joint’s food and service killed! Indoor table and booth seating/ outdoor table seating/full indoor liquor bar, open kitchen, private party room for 50, reasonably priced full-boat menu of appetizers/ salads/ pastas/ entrees/ wood fired pizzas/ desserts, happy hour, live DJ music, open Monday-Thursday 4pm-10pm/ Friday-Saturday 4pm-11pm/ Sunday noon-9pm.

Just so you guys know, if your car’s GPS goes-nuts on you, Patrizia’s of N.Y.C. in addition to Deerfield Beach has joints in New York City, Long Island, New Jersey, Aruba and Fort Lauderdale (3300 NE 32nd Street, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33308,(954-777-6880).

A blonde, wanting to earn some money, decided to hire herself out as a handyman-type and started canvassing a wealthy neighborhood.

She went to the front door of the first house and asked the owner if he had any jobs for her to do. “Well, you can paint my porch. How much will you charge?”

The blonde said “How about 50 dollars?”

The man agreed and told her that the paint and other materials that she might need were in the garage. The man’s wife, inside the house, heard the conversation and said to her husband, “Does she realize that the porch goes all the way around the house?” The man replied, “She should, she was standing on it.”

A short time later, the blonde came to the door to collect her money.

“You’re finished already?” he asked.

“Yes,” the blonde answered, “and I had paint left over, so I gave it two coats.”

Impressed, the man reached in his pocket for the $50.

“And by the way,” the blonde added, “it’s not a Porch, it’s a Ferrari.”
