Iconic New York City bagel shop H&H Bagels has announced it has agreements in place for 25 new restaurants across the country. Currently operating five locations in New York City, H&H Bagels is now expanding outside of the tri-state area for the first time, opening new company-owned and franchised locations in Florida, California, Washington, DC, Virginia, Illinois and Connecticut. A company-owned location will also open at the newly remodeled Penn Station in New York City later this year.

“We’re excited to bring our legendary New York City bagels to cities across the country as part of our expansion plan,” says Jay Rushin, chief executive officer of H&H Bagels. “With each new company-owned and franchise location, we are looking forward to welcoming new customers to the H&H family, while working with like-minded entrepreneurs who are eager to bring an iconic brand and an authentic New York City bagel to cities all across the country.”

H&H Bagels locations under development include:

Los Angeles, California (5-unit franchise development agreement)
Tampa, Florida (5-unit franchise development agreement)
Washington, DC, Northern Virginia, Norfolk/Virginia Beach, Virginia (10-unit franchise development agreement)
Boca Raton, Florida (franchise)
West Palm Beach, Florida (company-owned)
Stamford, Connecticut (franchise)
Chicago, Illinois (company-owned)
Penn Station, New York, New York (company-owned)
The first H&H Bagel franchise location will be in Boca Raton, Florida which is expected to open in the third quarter of 2023. Additionally, the first company-owned locations outside of New York City will be in West Palm Beach, Florida at NORA, the redevelopment of West Palm Beach’s warehouse district and in Chicago, Illinois in Fulton Market. H&H Bagels’ sixth New York City location is expected to open in the fourth quarter of 2023 in the newly renovated Penn Station.

To support national expansion, H&H Bagels is opening a 20,000-square-foot bakery facility in Woodside, Queens. This new facility will provide the brand’s bagels worldwide, utilizing the original recipe and the same artisanal water bagel method that the company has used for over 50 years.

Prospective franchisees can receive more information on the franchise program and H&H Bagels’ new store locations online. (hhbagelsfranchising.com)

Trust Jeff Eats on this one, Walmart’s- Freshness Guaranteed Everything Bagels are as good if not better than most of the everything bagels being made (costing almost twice as much) by most of Florida’s bagel joints!

***** Freshness Guaranteed Everything Bagels.

I don’t know about you guys- but when I’m thinking everything bagels, the name Walmart doesn’t exactly pop into my mind!

That said, yesterday morning I came across “this” package of (Walmart house-brand) Freshness Guaranteed Everything Bagels (6 count- $2.97) in the bakery department of- the Walmart Supercenter, 16205 South Military Trail, Delray Beach, Florida 33484, (561) 495-8127- and figured for $2.97 I’d take a shot!

Long story short, not bad, not bad at all! Thus far, Jeff Eats has eaten one toasted and one right out of the bag- and I gotta tell you guys- both schmeared with Philadelphia Original Whipped Cream Cheese (Walmart-$4.48, 12oz) definitely got the job done!

You guys can check walmart.com for store locations/info.

National Hamburger Day

^^^^^ National Hamburger Day.

Just in case you guys forgot, today is National Hamburger Day!

There are some real nice- deals, discounts and freebies out there!

From nationaltoday.com:

Every May 28, National Hamburger Day celebrates America’s most iconic food. Americans eat over 50 billion burgers a year, so it’s only fitting we set aside a whole day for these special sandwiches. Originating in Hamburg, Germany, the hamburger as we know it was developed in Seymour, Wisconsin, a town still famous for its hamburger heroics.

WHEN IS NATIONAL HAMBURGER DAY 2023?

The beloved hamburger gets its own day on National Hamburger Day on May 28.

HISTORY OF NATIONAL HAMBURGER DAY

Ah yes, the hamburger. A baked bun, beef patty, mustard, ketchup, onion, pickles, with optional cheese. Convenient, cheap, and delicious, the world-famous burger has a storied and uncertain history. No one is quite sure about the origins of the hamburger, other than that it is eponymously named for the town of Hamburg in Germany.

People have been eating cooked meat on bread for centuries, but the association with Hamburg seems to stem from a 1758 recipe for a dish called the “Hamburg Sausage.” Others think the name originates from a cruise company known as the Hamburg America Line, which served its passengers similar sandwiches in the Mid-1800s. To this day, there is little agreement over who actually created the iconic food.

Numerous deli and diner owners across the United States claim that their joint is responsible for inventing the burger. However, there seems to be some consensus amongst historians that the food as we know it today truly gained popularity at the 1904 World’s Fair in St. Louis, an event that also gave us the ice-cream cone. However it happened, the hamburger has grown to be one of the world’s most widely consumed food items, found on menus from Texas to Thailand. They can be had for a dollar apiece or made from gourmet ingredients that cost hundreds. However you decide to chow down, this day is for you. Fire up the grill, gather round your friends, and cook up some delicious burgers.
