    Jeff,
In 2013 you did a review on a Bella Amici Pizzeria in Delray Beach. Are these the same owners?
You hated the Delray Beach restaurant which went out of business years ago, going through 2 different owners.

      Ellen G,

Just had a chance to read your “comment”…

Whole different operation! Different owners. Different Location.

      Thanks for reading.

As you know I’ve been a Jeff Eats’ reader since 2006.

I wanted to compliment you for the Bella Amici recommendation.

My wife and another couple ate there last night and the food was sensational.

My wife and I have lived in Boca Raton for 37 years and we have eaten in countless Italian joints in Florida. Bella Amici is definitely one of the best.

    Thanks,

Not much can compare to the time-honored, Margherita pizza served straight out of a wood-fired oven. From the expertly charred crust, to the delightfully tangy tomato sauce, and the luxuriously creamy mozzarella cheese – every bite is a symphony of flavor. If you’re lucky, your “pizzaiolo” may even sprinkle your pie with a handful of freshly picked basil leaves. While this is the legend of how pizza began, it has evolved to encompass a variety of styles, shapes, sauces, and toppings. That’s why we created this list.

We searched all through the US and Canada to find the best spots to savor a slice, whether you prefer thin-crust or deep-dish, red or white sauce, dozens of toppings or just a dusting of cheese. Several pizza spots, like #1-ranked Sapori Di 786 Degrees in Pasadena, California, are beloved for baking their pies in a wood-fired oven imported from Italy. Others, like Toni’s Detroit Style Pizza in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina (#9), are paying homage to the square, blue steel pans that historically held automotive parts in Motor City before becoming a vehicle for cooking crispy pizza.

Whether it’s out-of-the-ordinary, organic toppings at B+C Pizza in Laguna Niguel, California (#8); a Southwest twist on New York style pies at My Slice of the Pie Pizzeria in Phoenix, Arizona (#18); or a vegan-inspired secret that’s worth sharing at Secret Pizza Society in Portland, Oregon (#20), there’s something on this list for every pizza lover. Keep scrolling to find your new favorite local pizza spot.

Did your favorite local pizza spot make it onto our list? Let us know on Twitter, Instagram, and TikTok with #YelpTop100. We only know how good a spot is if you take the time to review it. So share your thoughts on Yelp, and maybe your favorites will be on next year’s Top Pizza Spots list!

How we did it: This is an all-time list of the Top Pizza Spots in the US, according to Yelp. We identified businesses in the pizza category, then ranked those spots using a number of factors including the total volume and ratings of reviews.

    Jeff,

My family has lived in Boca Raton for over 41 years.
We have eaten at loads of Italian restaurants in Florida and I have to tell you that Bella is right up there with the best ones.

    Great recommendation.

  6. Last night my husband and i decided to give Bella Amici a try. We live in Deerfield Beach, so the restaurant isn’t exactly in our neighborhood. Right up front, eating there was a great decision. Amazingly delicious food. We ordered a 18” cheese pizza, and shared a shrimp scampi dinner which included awesome garlic rolls and house salad. As I just said, delicious food.

  7. Lenny Gross says...

    They make delicious pizza.

  8. KLEINMAN says...

    Awesome pizza.

Most of your ‘recommendations’ have been right on the money.
For sure, you’ve had a few clunkers but all in all, great calls.
Last night my wife and I ate at Bella Amici. All I can say is that this joint’s food was outstandingly delicious. Based on its pizza decor, we never expected the food to be some of the best Italian food that we’ve had here in Florida over the past 36 years.
    Great call!

Yesterday, tried Bella. Did takeout, chicken parm, house salad, garlic rolls and a ziti side.
    DELCIOUS!

    Thanks for the great site.

    Jeff Eats,

My husband Lance and I really enjoyed meeting you and Mrs. Eats the other day at the Boys Market in Delray.

As we mentioned we have been readers for years. Love the blog and your recommendations.

Thanks for the Boy’s Italian Wedding Soup recommendation. It was delicious.

Thanks also for the Bella Amici recommendation.

We ate there last night and the food was terrific. We had the meat lasagna and chicken parm dinners. We also took home a 20 inch cheese pizza for our two kids. It was also delicious.

Thanks again and please say hello to your wife for us.

  12. Jimmy Ross says...

Last night my wife and I ate at Bella for the first time.
    Its food was outstanding.

My 3 meat lasagna was delicious. Same for the italian wedding soup and garlic rolls that came with the entree.

My wife’s baked salmon pesto with a side of ziti was terrific. Same for the house salad and garlic rolls that came with the entree.

    Great recommendation.

  13. Ned Croce says...

Took out veal parm, house salad, penne side and garlic rolls everything was delicious. The garlic rolls were some of the best I’ve ever eaten.

  14. Solie Swan says...

The Washington Post just ranked them as the #2 pizza restaurant for New York Style pizza in Florida! Well deserved too.

  15. Sammy Robeson says...

    Jeff,
Definitely one of the best joints that you have ever featured.
Great staff, phenomenal food priced right.
    Great call on this one.

  16. Rosie Marciano says...

    Jeff,
My family has lived in Delray Beach for the past 37 years. We migrated from The Bronx.

During the past 37 years we have eaten in tons and tons of red sauce joints all ove Florida.. Some were terrific, some were lousy and most were just decent.

Back in January 2023 we read that YELP had ranked Bella’s pizza as being in the 1op 100 in America. Sounded nuts to us that a little pizza joint with maybe 32 seats could be so good.

Long story short, in February 2023 we gave Bella atry and YELP was correct, DELICIOUS pizza. The real shocker was that over the next few months we found that’s BEllA’s veal parmigiana, lasagna, garlic knots, soups etc were all amazingly delicious.

Personally, we rate Bella the best red sauce joint in Florida.

In all seriousness, we would match its food up against any Italian restaurant in Florida, whether a pizza joint or a fancy dancy upscale restaurant.

Thanks for the great blog and hopefully all of your readers give BELLA a shot as they will be in for a real treat.

  17. Jeff,
    Thanks for the great .recommendation.

Ate there last night and the chicken marsala, house salad, ziti side, garlic rolls and 20” cheese pizza which we shared were all fabulous.

Bella Amici is definitely right up there with the best Italian restaurants that we have been to since moving to Delray Beach in 1994.

  18. Miriam Gottlieb says...

Since you first mentioned BA my husband and I have eaten there something like 10 times. Its food is sensational. What looks like an ordinary pizza joint, is cranking some of the best Italian food in Florida.

  19. Jan Ross says...

    Jeff Eats,

My family is brand new to the Boca-Delray area.
Heard about your site a few weeks ago and so far have tried 2 of your ‘recommendations.’
The two, The Boys Farmers Market in Delray. Amazing! And now (last night) Bella Amici in Boca Raton. Amazing!

Let’s make it three in a row. Greek?

    Thanks

      Another great call.
Last night we ate at Chris’ Taverna and the food was sensational.
Don’t want to go to the well too many times, but how about a Chinese joint like we grew up on in Queens in the 60’s?

      Thanks,

        ***** Hunan Gardens
        4900 Linton Boulevard
        Delray Beach, Florida 33445
        (561) 498-1898

Let me start by saying…HUNAN GARDENS IS A GOOD NEIGHBORHOOD CHINESE RESTAURANT…The operative word in the last sentence is, NEIGHBORHOOD, capisce?

Over the years I must have eaten in this joint at least 20 times. I can’t remember a time, when Hunan Gardens failed to pass my circa 1957 Brooklyn Jewish American Chinese Taste Test of – wonton soup-egg rolls-spare ribs-pan fried dumplings-roast pork fried rice-sweet and sour chicken-pistachio ice cream!

Gourmet stuff? I don’t think soooo! This is a good NEIGHBORHOOD Chinese joint to know about. For those who live in the Delray Beach area, Hunan Gardens is located in the “middle” of a strip shopping center located at the southeast corner of the Linton Boulevard/Military Trail intersection.

Hunan Gardens is open 7 days a week for lunch and dinner. By the way, this joint is owned/run by super-nice people.

  21. Susie Marciano says...

Last night I picked up a penne a la vodka (sauce) pizza at Bella and it was sensational.

I have been getting my nails done in the Hidden Valley Shopping Center. Over the years a number of pizza joints have come and gone in the space where Bella now is.I never really paid any attention to them, but your recent story and contests on Bella prompted me to give Bella a chance and I’m glad that I did. As I said, the pizza was delicious.

Looking forward to trying Bella’s other offerings.

  22. Definitely one of the best NY STYLE PIZZA in Florida,

  23. Marvin Benjamin says...

    Love this joint’s food.
Definitely one of the best mom & pop Italian joints in South Florida.

When you eat there, ask the owner, Mike if you can try Bella’s gelato. Amazing!

  24. Brandy W says...

    Jeff,

Tried Bella earlier this evening and the food was outrageously delicious.

My husband had the 3 meat lasagna and I had the chicken parm with a ziti side.

We both had house salads amd garlic knots.

    LOVED THE JOINT!

  25. Mark Cintron says...

    Jeff,
My wife and I have been reading Jeff Eats for years.

We love your write ups and take on various things.

Last night, we finally had a chance to checkout your Bella pick and I must tell you that this is definitely one of your best recommendations ever.

Nothing fancy going on here decor wise.

We shared a 20 inch penne ala vodka pizza that was absolutely amazing. We also shared an eggplant entree with mixed vegetables, a house salad, garlic knots snd chocolate gelato which were outstanding. The bill which also included 2 sodas, with a $10 tip was 50 bucks.

    Keep up the great work.

    Mark Cintron

  26. Mark Rizzo says...

    Your story got me there.

I wanted to tell you that I live on SW 16th Street in Boca Raton. Not exactly close to where Bella Amici is located.

Long story short, this past Monday night I pickedup 2 18 inch pizzas/ One was cheese and the other was pepperoni and they were amazing.
Personally, I think that these pizzas were the best NY Style Pizzas that my family has had in Florida in the 17 years that we have lived in Florida.

Like you, my wife and I were born and bred in Brooklyn. Personally, I’d match Bella Amici’s pizza up against the best pizzas that we had in NYC over 51 years.

    Great recommendation.

  27. Alice Carter says...

Last night my husband and I ate dinner at Bella. It was our first time, and our dinner was terrific.

For sure, this is a generic looking pizza joint.

We had 2 sunset dinners. I had the meat lasagna and he had the chicken parm. Delicious house salads, pasta sides, beverages and gelato.

This is definitely;y one of the best mom & pop Florida Italian joints that we have been to since moving from Livingston NJ to Boca Raton in 2011.

  28. Beatrice Stein says...

Took out a 20 inch penne ala vodka pizza and it was sensational.

  29. Brenda W says...

    Jeff,
This pizza joint is turning out gourmet level food.
My husband and I loved the joint/

  30. Harry Wright says...

    Jeff,
    Great find.
Little hole in the wall with great food.
    Thanks,
