    Jeff,

    About Me
    Updated: December 31, 2014:

My name is Jeff. I was born (1949) and bred in Brooklyn, New York. Since 1991, I have lived full-time in South Florida and have eaten in so many restaurants (down here), that I now consider myself to be a FOOD EXPERT. To give you some idea as to how many South Florida restaurants I’ve been to, as of December, 31, 2014, 441 Italian joints alone, have had the pleasure of ringing up my American Express card. Suffice it to say, over the past 23 years, I’ve had some great meals and my fair share of TUMS.

Just so you know, I don’t go for the fancy sit-down joints that want you to wear pants and a jacket, but rather places where a pair of shorts, an old tee shirt and a pair of sneakers is considered formal-wear. I don’t know one sauce from another. I also don’t know, or really care, how “dishes” are prepared. What I do know, is when something tastes delicious and I can’t get enough of it. By the way, I don’t believe in a MULTIPLE STARS RATING SYSTEM. If a restaurant’s food is “decent” I throw the joint ***** (5 Stars). How food critics come up with 2 instead of 3, or 3 1/2 instead of 4 is beyond me. Too many nonsensical games being played in the reviewing-arena.

As this site develops, I will tell you about some of my all-time favorites and introduce you to new and exciting joints as I find them. By the way, the restaurants that I mention don’t know me and I don’t know them. I will tell you about joints that you should eat in and only bash joints that really deserve it. I call them, exactly as I see them–or should I say eat them? Just so you know, there are only so many meals in any given day and South Florida is “big”- so every now and then, I will rely on a trusted-associate to do the eating for me-and I’ll report the findings to you. In addition, when I’m playing Clarke Griswold I’ll tell you about joints located outside of Florida. For those of you who might be wondering, the Jeff Eats’ site has an “Other” category- that’s where non-South Florida joints will be listed. In addition, the “Search Box” will allow you to type in any jurisdiction that you’d like and with some luck-get you a list for that area.

Give some of my picks a try and let me know if you agree with my culinary calls. I would also “love” to hear about your favorite joints. I have provided YOU with a way to comment about my posts, so feel free to include your own picks etc. I’m a pretty open-minded guy, so I’ll let you “really” speak your mind, if that’s what you want to do. By the way, Jeff Eats (by re-writing and/or routing your comments through its IP Address) will make sure that “strangers” aren’t able to obtain your e-mail address/IP address.

From time to time, I will also direct you to other “sites” which I think have some pretty good JOINT recommendations. My goal is to find the best joints-if someone else finds them first, I see no reason why he or she shouldn’t get full credit.

From time to time, I may also tell you about publiclly traded stocks that are restaurant/food/entertainment related. Please do your own DUE DILIGENCE on the situations that I discuss. If you follow one of my “picks” and make money, don’t forget that we are partners and if you lose money, I don’t know who the Hell you are.

In addition, I may also discuss “stuff” that has absolutely NOTHING TO DO WITH FOOD and even direct you to other websites which I find interesting.

Just for the record, at one time or another I was- General Partner of a partnership that owned/operated 29 Hardee’s Restaurants; the CEO of a Florida based Discovery Zone franchise; the CEO of a Florida based Johnny Rockets’ franchise; and a columnist/tv reporter for The Pennystock News. I was also rated by Rodeo Magazine, as the #1 rodeo-clown in the United States in 1977-79 (just kidding).

For those of you who might care, I am a graduate of Ithaca College (1970), Brooklyn Law School (1973) and a member of the bars of New York, New Jersey and Florida. I am also admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of the United States of America. Since 1971 I have represented clients in the entertainment industry and have promoted/produced numerous concerts. Not to be a name dropper, but the talent that I have worked with includes (in no particular order) artists such as Buddy Rich, The Chantels, Flip Wilson, William F. Buckley, Long John Nebel, The Chad Mitchell Trio, Rosie & The Originals, The Five Satins, Jay & The Americans, The Rascals, Ramones, The Grass Roots, The Shirelles, Johnny Maestro & The Brooklyn Bridge, Otis Day & The Knights, Joey Dee & The Starliters, Katrina & The Waves and The Platters. With this background in mind, don’t be surprised to see reviews, news and comments about bands, shows, comedians and other entertainment stuff here at Jeff Eats.

Finally, you maybe wondering how JeffEats-the website “came to be” in the first place. Real simple, back in 2006 Son Jeff Eats surprised me telling me that he had purchased the domain name JeffEats.com and had hired/paid a web designer to build a JeffEats’ site. So, if you don’t like something “here” go and bitch to Son Jeff Eats as he’s the owner and I’m just a writer-around here.

Let’s see how this SITE works-out, as we can fine-tune it as we go.

It’s now time to start stuffing our faces, make some money and listen to some cool bands!!
