  • GRAPES & SYRIAN REFUGEES.

If someone handed you a bunch of grapes and said, “Here’s a bunch of grapes, I’m not sure, but a couple of the grapes may be poisonous”- would you eat any of the grapes?

I didn’t think so!

The President of the United States should start reading food blogs.

    Brilliantly stated.

  2. Anthony Franza says...

    I got an idea.
Let’s let the Syrian Refugees in.
Then tell Obama that we are going to leave him in an arena with them, without any Secret Service protection. Betcha a billion dollars he wouldn’t go for the idea.

  3. TURNER says...

    IRAN NUCLEAR.
    SYRIAN REFUGEES
    EXECUTIVE ORDER ON IMMIGRATION.

If people can’t see that this Obama character has a demented view on what’s good for America, you are a fool.

  4. Seymour says...

Weird how I heard none of this when thousands of Iraqi refugees were allowed into America back in 2007. I guess it depends whose offering the “grapes” to you, right, Jeff?

    Funny how that works sometimes.

    • KLEINMAN says...

      2 wrongs don’t make a right.

    • Seymour:

My father died in the World Trade Center.

      Go f-yourself.

People like you are dying to tempt the hand of fate.

      Why ask for trouble?

      SEY,
Guess your in the minority on this one.

Why even consider taking in people in light of current developments all over the world?

Turning on President Barack Obama and other Democratic leaders, a significant chunk of the House Democratic caucus sided with Republicans in an effort to effectively stifle the flow of Syrian refugees into the US.

On Thursday, 47 House Democrats voted in favor of a bill authored by Rep. Mike McCaul (R-Texas). The bill passed, 289-137, giving it just enough to overcome a threatened veto from President Barack Obama.

The legislation bars Iraqi and Syrian refugees from being admitted to the US until the FBI director and the Director of National Intelligence certify to Congress that each refugee does not pose a national-security threat.

The bill’s passage comes less than a week after the Paris terror attacks, which left 129 dead and hundreds more injured. One of the suspected attackers was found with a refugee passport, though its authenticity has not been confirmed.

Following the attacks, more than 30 governors and a number of mayors came out against Obama’s plan to resettle up to 10,000 Syrian refugees over the next fiscal year.

The Obama administration lobbied Democrats hard on Thursday, to no avail. In a closed-door meeting, White House Chief of Staff Denis McDonough and Secretary of Homeland Security Jeh Johnson tried to convince skeptical Democrats.

But a Democratic source familiar with the meeting told Business Insider that many Democrats came away from the presentation more in favor of the GOP-led bill. The White House’s presentation was heavily focused on process, and Democrats feared it would not translate into credible arguments they could make to skeptical constituents.

Indeed, several Democratic sources told Business Insider on Thursday that House Democrats feared the poor optics of voting against a bill strengthening barriers for refugee resettlement specifically from Iraq and Syria. A Bloomberg Politics survey released Wednesday found that 53% of Americans favored barring any Syrian refugees from entering the US.

Americans should be banded together in this horrible scary time of our lives. Why make this fear worse by letting Syrians into our hallowed grounds.

  6. SidRidesABike says...

Absolutely no reason to tempt the hand of fate.
Times are way too dangerous to let people in.
    Obama is such a fool.

      Different era.
Back then only the dumb JAPS were killing themselves.
There is no need whatsoever to let 10,000 potential terrorists into this country.
Send them back and house them in a safe zone.
No one is saying to kill anybody but we can’t take a chance.
Obviously almost the majority of Americans see it our way.

    • Mr. USA Soldier says...

I’d bet you anything and guarantee you that there wasn’t 1 terrorist among those Jews. Can you say for 100% that there isn’t 1 terrorist among those 10,000? Better safe than sorry my brave friend. Thank God we got some Governors and Congress folks who aren’t as stupid as Obama is and apparently you are.

    • larryfine says...

      mark,
Your comparison has to be one of the dumbest going.

You are talking about a group of Jews who some 75 years were trying to escape Nazis. Back then, there were no terrorists other than some Japanese pilots running around blowing themselves up. For sure they blew up others, but never blew themselves up.

Today, you have terrorists who blow you up and themselves up all in one foul swoop.

Now why in the world should the United States take even one chance that one of those 10,000 Syrians is looking to blow him/or herself up?

      There is no reason.

    • Lowell Katz says...

In this day and age we can’t be too careful.
It’s just too bad on these refugees but nobody every said life was fair.

    • Jacob G says...

      Hey Mark,

      You got to be kidding.

900 1940s Jews and 10,000 that’s right 10,000 Syrians coming from a hotbed of terrorism doesn’t even belong in the same sentence.

      • mark says...

It was bigotry then and its bigotry now

        • ZED says...

Not bigotry , just good common sense in the case of 10,000 people who haven’t been fully vetted.

          • mark says...

They will be vetted better than the European Muslim that just needs to by an airline ticket to get here. If you were ISIS would you try to sneak in with refuges knowing it will take months if not years to get refuge status and you might not get anyone in or would you send guys like those who attacked Paris European citizens? its called common sense.

    Jeff,
Got to say, you sure know how to stir things up.
That’s why this is the best food/entertainment blog going.

By the way, I wouldn’t eat any of the grapes.

  9. Jeff,
    You explained the situation perfectly.
    Love the blog.

  10. Jeff,
    Absolutely brilliant.
    You easily explained the situation.

  11. LODI says...

    Jeff,
Jerry Lewis on 12/17/15 said exactly what you said.

Entertainer and Muscular Dystrophy ambassador Jerry Lewis blasted President Barack Obama’s understanding of the Islamic State (ISIS), praised GOP presidential front-runner Donald Trump, saying the United States should not allow in Syrian refugees in an interview aired on Eternal Word Television Network.

Trump has called for a moratorium on Muslims entering the United States until the government can be assured terrorists aren’t getting in. Other Republicans have criticized him singling out Muslims, but have said Syrian refugees shouldn’t be accepted over fears ISIS members are embedded among them.

Lewis agreed, telling Raymond Arroyo, host of EWTN’s “World Over,” the “refugees should stay where the hell they are.”

“No one has worked harder for the human condition than I have, but they’re not part of the human condition,” Lewis said. “If 11 guys in the group of 10,000 are ISIS, how can I take the chance? I don’t want to lose another Frenchman or another Englishman. That bothers me.”

Obama has said the United States will accept 10,000 Syrian refugees fleeing their war-torn country where ISIS is headquartered.

Obama doesn’t truly understand the threat of ISIS, Lewis said.

“He was never prepared for it, and what I’m watching in him is uncertainty,” he said. “And you can’t have uncertainty in a leader.”

Lewis suggested a military solution in concert with America’s allies in Europe.

“Why don’t we have Germany and Italy and Great Britain, why don’t have all of them, including Spain, doing something?” he said. “Get all of your military together, bring that military to our military and wipe them out.”

ISIS is “asking to be stopped, and we’re not stopping them,” Lewis said. “We’re just reporting what they’re doing. It’s ridiculous.”

About 47 minutes into the interview Lewis said he thinks Trump is “great” and would bring something new to the Oval Office.

“He’s a showman and we’ve never had a showman in the president’s chair,” Lewis said.
