***** Chinese Roast Pork On Garlic Bread.

Who here remembers Herbie's International in Canarsie -which made the most incredible- Chinese Roast Pork On Garlic Bread sandwich in the 1960s-1970s?

Well if you do, or want to find out what Jeff Eats is blabbering about- get yourself over to Gilbert's 17th Street Grill, 1821 Cordova Road, Fort Lauderdale, Florida 33316, (954) 768-8990.-because its got a Chinese roast pork on garlic bread sandwich that is off the chart.

Check menu/prices at gilberts17thstgrill.com.

The joint is open Monday-Saturday 11am-9pm, closed on a Sunday.

Glad -I was able to introduce or re-introduce you -to a sandwich that is fabulous. Don't forget, to top that roast pork with a good shot of Chinese Duck Sauce.

Southport Raw Bar also has a great roast pork sandwich on garlic bread. Nothing to this day can beat the roast pork sandwiches we use to get in South Fallsburg.

Bless you and your husband Lee.
To this day, I’ve been in search for a place to reminisce about that sandwich.
The best I’ve found so far is Danny’s in Wurtsboro.

Years ago there was a spot in South Fallsburg in the Jewish Alps that stayed open all night on the weekends. A bunch of us from a campground in Greenfield Park (bet you’ve never heard of that tiny burg) would load into cars at 1AM and chow down on roast port on garlic bread. What wonderful memories!!!

  8. Maxine says...
