Hey Jeff,
This past Summer my husband and I moved from Chicago to Valencia Falls in Delray Beach. This is our first Florida Passover and we are planning to have ten friends to our home for the first seder.
I was wondering if you could recommend where in the area can I order really delicious kosher/kosher style chopped liver, matzo ball soup, brisket and turkey.
Thanks in advance for your help.

This one is a no-brainer. All of the joints listed below, will do you proud.

Zinger’s Delicatessen (Boca Raton, Reviewed-8/18/11).
Ruven’s (Delray Beach, Reviewed-2/20/11).
Ben’s Of Boca (Boca Raton, Reviewed 3/8/08).
Poppie’s Restaurant & Deli (Delray Beach, Reviewed 7/11/08).

Over the years, Mrs. Jeff Eats has “catered in” from all 4-and to my knowledge -not even one guest bitched about the food.

Good luck and happy holiday!

Jeff, In my experience, Poppies doesn’t belong on the list.

      Shelly,
Look at how Jeff listed the names. Seemingly there is no rhyme or reason. Definitely not in alphabetical order. Definitely not in geographical order. Definitely not by Review date. My bet says that Jeff in his own way is telling you who is 1-2-3-4 to get food from.

Jeff, am I reading too much into this?

Just had a chance to read your comments.

To answer your question, no you aren’t reading too much into the list’s order.

        Thanks for reading…

My point was there should be no # 4

In any way as they say in the old country (Brooklyn or Bronx) A zeesena Pesach!

    Jeff,
I have gotten food from all four listed.
Hands down Zinger’s is the best. Ruven’s is a close second. Ben’s is okay and Poppie’s is okay but Zinger’s first and then Ruven’s is the way to go.
I will tell you that the Boys Market makes really good chopped liver so there is another place where she can get part of what she will need.

  3. Last year we had food from Zinger’s and it was fabulous. Doing the same this year. They make the best turkey and brisket.
I have also gotten food from Ruven’s and the turkey was delicious.
Have to agree with Shelly H in that Poppie’s isn’t all that good. Years ago it was terrific but in recent years its really gone down hill. On Ben’s I have found it to be hit and miss so I just don’t bother with them any more. One year I had turkey from Ben’s and it was disgusting.

  4. Last year I had the holiday done by Flakowitz in Boynton and everything came out just right. So there’s another option.

3G’s in Delray is another good option.

    Jeff,
Not to mention any names but yesterday I was in a shopping center and past a bagel store that had its takeout Passover menu in the window. This crappy bagel deli was charging more than what Zinger’s who I ordered from was getting for basically the same thing. Amazing what people will buy when they don’t know any better.

Just had turkey and brisket from Zinger’s. Delicious.

I would add Glicks to that list.

    This year,
Got turkey and brisket from Zinger’s.
    Delicious!

Poppies use to be excellent, in past 3 years second rate.
