Nick’s New Haven-Style Pizzeria & Bar (Boca Raton)

Posted on July 31st, 2011 · Boca Raton Italian Pizza Subs/Salads

***** Nick’s New Haven-Style Pizzeria & Bar, 2240 Northwest 19th Street, Boca Raton Florida 33431, (561) 368-2900.

Here’s a heads-up for you guys…Tomorrow, Monday–August 1, 2011 at 11am, Nick’s New Haven-Style Pizzeria & Bar is going to open-for-business in Boca Raton. Now, I may-be sticking my neck out here—but I am predicting, that this coal-fired pizza joint is going to be an absolute homerun. Pray tell, Jeff…what makes you go out on such a limb? Well- The guys who own Nicks, had a mini-version of the Boca joint- Nick’s New Haven Style Apizza in Lake Worth (for 2-years)…and the pizza, sandwiches, pastas were absolutely amazing-delicious. The bet here, is that this new-semi-upscale 170 seater, repeats and even “betters” the owners’ first outing.

At this juncture, some of you guys might be asking yourselves, what the hell is “New Haven” pizza? Really don’t got- time to go into tremendous detail…but, “plain” pizza usually consists of crust, tomato sauce and mozzarella cheese…New Haven pizza consists of crust, tomato sauce and oregano and maybe some romano cheese—notice there ain’t-no mozzarella on the pie. For the ambitious out there, do a GOOGLE and you’ll get the full story.

I’m gonna check Nick’s out and I’ll let you know, if my “call” was right on the money or
was wishful thinking.

If you get “there” before I do, let me know what you think.

I walked pass Nick’s last night. Didn’t eat there as I was heading to Hooter’s which is in the same center.
The restaurant looks great. Really cool looking bar, two coal ovens, woody looking furniture. Not huge but big enough to give it a semi-chain look.
I grabbed a menu and noticed that it has loads of pizza, wraps, sandwiches etc, but no wings. The question, how come no wings? Either its because Hooters lease doesnt let them have it or these guys are trying to differentiate themselves from the anthony’s of the world.
I am definitely going to give Nick’s a try and will let you know what I think.

Haven’t tried Nick’s yet but it sounds interesting.
On the coal fired pizza business, Anthony’s is all over the place. I find its pizza lousy. I enjoy its wings and salads.
I use to love Carolina’s in Delray but it closed.
I like Corelino’s in Lake Worth, but other than the pizza and wings the rest of the food is lousy.
I am going to try Nick’s.

I haven’t had a better pizza than Tucci’s. I ate at the Nick’s in Lake Worth before it closed and it was very good. I hope those guys do well in Boca because that is a beautiful build out and it had to be a huge investment.

was there tonight, pizza is delcious. also loved the pistachio gelato.

    great soundtrack of oldies.

was also there tonight with 2 friends – had the clams ‘casino’ white pizza (clams, bacon, peppers, garlic) lemon on the side – fabulous crust – amazing toppings cooked just right – as a former Italian restaurant owner – thought they hit the mark – although saying their pizza is done well was a bit contrived – they don’t need to reference Anthony’s well done slogan.
since this was day 3 – service was a bit spotty but helpful and the managers really worked the floor
    hope they make it!

Was visiting relatives in Boca, and since I am originally from New Haven we decided to eat at Nicks.
Pizza was great! just like the origianal pizza we used to get on Wooster St. My favorite is White pie with bacon & onion. Loved the atmosphere. For a restaurant that has only been open for 3 days service was good, but Like a new hair stlye or new home there needs to be some tweeking.
Am recommending to all my friends that they also visit Nicks

What hours are you open for business? I am originally from New Haven and look forward to being there Tuesday afternoon before the crowds with my mother! That is, if you will be open of course.

while visiting and shopping in Boca, our group tried the recently opened Nick’s New Haven Style Pizza. I am from Conn, and well acquainted with what Wooster St.pizza has to offer, and Nick’s is the best I’ve tasted in a long time. we tried the salads and gelatos,
everything was great – good food, good mood,
    good luck Nicks

Just ate at Nicks with wife and son last night. I thought the pizza was awesome – had meatball and mushroom combo. Much better than Anthony’s… We also tried the Risotto Balls, which my son enjoyed. I will definitely be going back!!!!

excellent pizza (and i’m from connecticut — the home of great pizza). good service but more importantly, great abeets. was there in august and will be back in january.

  15. Susan says...

We are both New Haven natives and these pizzas do not in any way compare to the originals. Shame for saying they do. They were dry-cardboard crusted, boring, not cooked well enough, way too much garlic on the white clam, less is more please, nuance of garlic, the sweet clams should shine. We had two different pizzas, both were pedestrian at best, not wonderful. Please take a trip to New Haven and taste what NH “abeets” is all about.
