Riverside Market Cafe (Fort Lauderdale)

***** Riverside Market Cafe, 608 Southwest 12th Avenue, Fort Lauderdale, Florida 33312, (954) 358-8333.

Got an absolutely dynamite joint for you…Riverside Market Cafe. Best way to describe Riverside…a convenience store that was converted into a “cafe” that serves breakfast stuff, subs, sandwiches, flatbread pizzas, salads and daily meat-seafood-chicken “specials.” The joint’s walls are lined with upright refrigerators (just like those used in convenience stores) and are filled with something like 250 different types of bottled beer and a huge number of specialty sodas.

Now let’s talk food. A recent outing had me doing…flatbread 12″ pizza ($12), Italian seafood salad ($8), 12″ turkey sub ($9). Trust me on this one, the food is really good.

Check www.theriversidemarket.com for menu/prices.

So…we got a real casual–relatively inexpensive- breakfast-lunch-dinner joint, that beer and soda drinkers alike, will love.

Riverside Market Cafe is open Saturday-Thursday 8am-9pm and Friday 8am-10pm.

I’m gonna have to disagree with you on this one. I found the food average and overpriced. I paid $12 for a salad and a turkey reuben. I will hand it to them though, they have a solid beer selection. Unfortunately, my tab was already too high to enjoy a craft brew from their large selection.

Another positive worth mentioning: the owner (I’m guessing) is extremely friendly and personable.

    Jeff,
I have been reading and surfing your food blogs and I have come to realization that you and I have very similar tastes in food, easy, dive-like spots that serve the best tasting food.

A spot I’ve been going to for about 2 years now is called the Steak Shop in Lighthouse Point. Its just west of Federal Hghwy on Sample road, in a yellow building across from the TacoBell on the North side of Sample.

This is a hole-in-the-wall if there ever was one, and for that reason their food is second to none. They have all, specializing in cheesesteaks and gyros, but their wings, shrimp, clam and fish baskets along with their other hot subs and very eclectic menu make this cash-only joint amazing.

Check this place out, it will be worth the trip!

      Thanks for the “tip.”

I’ll check the Steak Shop out and report back.

      Thanks for reading…

    Jeff,
    I love this joint.
Some of the best chicken wings you’ve ever had.
Riverside opened something like 15 years ago and it has the same food priced today as it did when it first opened.

    Love this joint.
