Cup ‘N Saucer Restaurant, 6169 Jog Road, Lake Worth, Florida 33467 (561) 966-4997.

Just had Sunday breakfast at Cup ‘N Saucer– a “mom & pop” breakfast- lunch diner located in Lake Worth.

Based on the breakfast that Jeff Eats had…how this joint has managed to stay in business for something like 20 years is beyond me.

My order was quite simple…western omelet/hashbrowns/plain toasted bagel. The omelet was so salty that it was borderline inedible… The hasbrowns were undercooked, with the potatoes being nearly raw. The bagel tasted like a piece of whitebread. This was probably the worst breakfast that I’ve had down here in South Florida. By the way, my friend Mike who joined me for breakfast had a farmers omelete (sausage, onions, peppers, tomatoes & cheese) found his omelet to be oversalted-the hasbrowns undercooked and his english muffin to be tasteless. Just for the record, both Mike and I left something like 90% of our breakfasts untouched…22 bucks down the drown.

Look, I’m no cook…what I do know, is that over the years I’ve eaten tons of omelets and the “things” that we were served- were bad-news. I wasn’t back there when they were being cooked, but I suspect that the “cook” making these things, scrambled a few eggs and then shoveled the filings between the folded eggs. That’s not how omelets are suppose to be made. Rather than playing Julia Child and waste everyone’s time here, trust me on this one…the omelets were disgusting—same for the potatoes—same for the english muffin and bagel. I believe the rule is 3-strikes and your are O U T.

One of my favorite things, is a “leisurely” Sunday breakfast…you know what I’m talking about—when you go to a diner and just take your sweet time eating a large-breakfast. Well, this morning—Mike and I couldn’t get out of this joint fast enough.

If breakfast was any indication of what this Monday-Friday 6:30am-2pm, Saturday-Sunday 7am-3pm breakfast-lunch joint is all about…how it has stayed in business for 20 years should rank as the “Ninth Wonder Of The World.”

To be fair. The joint is clean—and service was pleasant and competent. I must also tell you, that at 10:15 am the joint was very busy. Could I be wrong here? NOPE— the food was atrocious!

You should try out Its All Greek on 441 and Clintmoore.

Hey jeff, I guess you didn’t like this joint. I’ve been there and I agree it isn’t too good. By the way they get their bagels from the same bakery that Erica’s gets theirs. You didn’t like Erica’s bagels either.

is this place worse than denny’s?

the food here is just ok. The reason its still there is there are no other options in the area. I have only had eggs over easy and homefries and they do tend to be salty but cheap. I hate to pay 6.00+ for a basic breakfast so i go here. for 3.00 i get 2 eggs homefries toast and coffee at IHOP this will cost over 6.00 and its no better

I was shopping in the Walmart Market which is in the same center. I ate breakfast. I can’t believe how bad the food was. IHOP runs circles around this dump.

      this place is terrible.
the omeletts taste like a salt mine.

How this restaurant stays in business is the $64,000 question?

  8. mike G says...

Hate to tell u guys but we feed over 6000 people a month. We have been doing it consistently for over 20 years. The reason is simple good food at good prices. Sorry if u had a bad meal, should have complained and we would have fixed it immediately. You eat out enough and your bound to have a meal not prepared properly even at IHOP and FYI our bagels come from a bagel bakery in PBC that wholesales to many other restaurants. If your going to comment please get ur facts straight. Respectfully MG

mike g, you obviously are the owner. i ate at your place about 2 years ago. first and last time for me. the breakfast i had wasn’t too good.

    • moe says...

Does the IRS know that feed over 6,000 people a month? Just wondering.

    • Silvio says...

hey mike G, that bagel factory you get bagels from should be in chapter 11. your bagels are lousy.

Don’t know what your problem is. My friends and I have been having breakfast there for years and we have never had anything too salty or undercooked. Maybe you just don’t like mom and pop restaurants.

    • IRMA S. says...

      Glenda,
I ate there once. Will never go back. The food was terrible.

We’re originally from New York City and we LOVE mom and pop restaurants as long as their food is good. Unfortunately, this mom and pop restaurant isn’t one we’ll be supporting. Come on, you really think their food is good? As I posted below, I wish I had seen this blog before we ate there. I would’ve saved my son the discomfort of going thru food poisoning. This did serve as a lesson to us, which doesn’t help me any, I either cook at home or we go to IHop or Denny’s for Brkfst the next time we have an early flight and get home starving.

I wish I had read this blog sooner I would have saved my son from getting food poisoning. Poor kid spent the entire night in the bathroom, missed a day of school that almost turned into two if not for an old family remedy. I would have also saved my family and I from a horrible experience. I tell you, I think the health inspectors overlook this place. I looked at other sites and read other reviews and I seriously think that the people who write the good reviews are family and friends of the owners. This place is horrible, we’re sticking to IHop, McDonald’s and Denny’s. Sorry but I think Denny’s is 10 times better than Cup and Saucer.

ate there one time. the food was nasty.

  11. john says...

try the rustic diner off hagen and hypoluxo south at first turnaround, we switched to that and have been there since

  12. LINDA G. says...

    I live in the area.
I ate there one time and that was enough for me.
I have never met anyone who raves about this place.
My friends know that the food is lousy.

  13. Angie says...

Ate there today. I was served hash browns that were more like raw potatoes. When I asked the waitress why they weren’t cooked better, she said “The grill is cold.” How can a grill be cold? The response: “We move stuff on and off the grill so fast, and with the back door open for airflow, the grill cools off.” Lame.

  14. lolo says...

    This place is bad news.
    Jeff, you called it.
Why anyone would voluntarily eat there is way beyond my realm of understanding.

  15. scoob says...

i worked at this joint for 4 years and i was treated like absolute shit.. food poisoning was the least of my concerns. rats and roaches crawling on the wall daily. Not to mention the waitress that would smoke out back next to a dumpster where they belonged in every 30 minutes.

  16. Miguel says...

and 8 years later they are still there and still busy.
