Mandarin Gourmet Donut Shoppe (Miami)

***** Mandarin Gourmet Donut Shoppe, Post Office Box 56-1165, Miami, Florida 33256 (305) 323-4999.

Unless- you have been living on the planet Pluto for the past year or so…you know–that GOURMET CUPCAKE STORES have been popping up like crazy all over South Florida.

That said…I like cupcakes, but I LOVE and I do mean LOVE…DONUTS.

Mandarin Gourmet Donut Shoppe is a GOURMET DONUT “maker.” There is no retail-store (rumor has it-that a Miami retail location is in the works for late 2010) but you can order and get donuts delivered (1 dozen minimum order) in Miami-Dade County, 7-days a week, 8am-noon. Menu/prices—www.mandaringourmetdonutshoppe.com.

Let me put it to you this way…I’ll bet you a nickel, that once you eat one of this joint’s donuts…you’ll have a huge problem getting future morning fixes from Dunkin’ Donuts or Krispy Kreme. I recently did a-gourmet glaze ($1.55), dark chocolate custard ($1.99), white chocolate dip ($1.55) and I gotta tell you…absolutely amazing.

Now…the donuts ain’t exactly cheap, but then again, you only live once.

By the way, Jerry’s Famous Deli and the Epricure Gourmet Market (both located in Miami Beach) “retail” some of Mandarin’s donuts…so, if you can’t handle the delivery-game or a dozen is too big of an order…you’ve got another way to go.

if fancy donuts catch on, dunkin donuts will start to make them and that will wipe out the small stores. if cupcakes are really here to stay, dunkin will also start to sell them just like they did years ago with bagels.

  3. jeff, ordering donuts over the phone? what a small business this is. i seriously doubt that too many people pick up the phone and give mandarin a call. if they dont get a store front real fast, i suspect that their days will be numbered. from what i can tell this is basically a mom and pop operation so i seriously doubt that any real money is behind this business. maybe thats why a promised retail store has yet to materalize.

Thanks Jeff, for bringing these amazing donuts to light. Based on your recommendation we ordered and have continued to order religiously 2wice a month for our bi-monthly office meetings. Always fresh and always on time. Without a doubt the best donuts I have ever had.

By the way, spread the word to Freddy Frumpkin and all others their retail shop opened as promised in Oct. 2010 and recently relocated to their new home Palmetto Bay. Not only serving their delicious donuts, cupcakes and coffee, but also offering an array of gourmet soups, salads, sandwiches, etc…

Definitely worth the trip, you won’t be disappointed!!
