***** Rock N Roll Ribs, 4651 State Road 7, Coral Springs, Florida 33073 (954) 345-7429.

Rock N Roll Ribs is a “bbq joint”…it opened about 3 months ago…one of its co-owners is Nicko McBrain, the legendary drummer of the metal-band Iron Maiden…by the way, Nicko lives in Boca Raton. So, you now know— how “it” probably got the name Rock N Roll Ribs. The joint, has videos of bands playing, records on the wall, hanging guitars and a drum set as its decor. Rock N Roll Ribs is located in a shopping center on State Road 7…I think there are more empty stores than going businesses. Personally, I think that the spot stinks, but hey, it ain’t my dime! The joint isn’t all that big, maybe 80 seats. From what I understand, although Nicko is one of the owners and hangs out there- when he is in “town” (he wasn’t there, last night), it is run by “Moby” Rick Baum who according to the joint’s “pr” has an extensive background in developing/opening/running restaurants—the guy also plays guitar in Nicko’s (other band) McBrain Damage… What I can tell you, based on last night’s meal, this guy Moby Rick knows his bbq.

At this stage of the concert, check www.rocknrollribs.org for menu/prices/photos.

Now let’s talk food…tried- baby back ribs, bbq chicken, pork sandwich, cheese burger, french fries, garlic toast—this is some of the best bbq that I have had “down here” in South Florida. This joint’s bbq is not heavy-smokey, but rather “sweet” grilled stuff, that is right on the money.

On the pricing front—very reasonable…a full rack of baby back ribs with garlic toast and 2 sides goes for $15.95…a 1/2 chicken with garlic toast and 2 sides $12.95.

On the service side—very pleasant and efficient waitstaff.

Like I said before, 80 seats, looks better than a Hard Rock Cafe, real good food, real good prices, real good service, lousy location. Hey! Nicko and Rick, you got a great concept here…I just hope that people “find” you.

One final thought, you might like to check www.ironmaiden.com and www.myspace.com/mcbraindamge and read about Nicko and Rick’s music and bandmates. Just so you know, Nicko-is considered by many, to be one of the top rock drummers of all-time.

I really enjoyed Rock N Roll Ribs.

The joint is open 7-days a week 11am-10pm.

Outrageously good babybacks and chicken. Cool looking place and that drum kit looks great, wish I knew how to play.

  2. A tossup between PA BBQ and Rock N Roll, tried both based on your recommedations. Both are very good. Loved the look of PA Boca location same goes for Rock’s. Both really good bbq.

Hey Jeff, got a good story for you.
About two week ago I was traveling south on 441 on my way to look at new volkswagons at Gunther Volkswagon. My wife just happened to notice Rock N Roll as we drove. Catchy name and you can see it from 441. After doing business at Gunther we decided to stop and take food out from Rock N Roll. Fall off the bone ribs, delicious French fries, and terrific onion rings. I highly recommend.
You are right about the lousy location although we did see it from the main road. It is not in the best shopping center and the area is kind of quiet for a bbq restaurant.
Hopefully they will catch on because the food was excellent.

Nicko McBrain is one of the greatest rock drummers to ever pick up sticks. I’d love to meet him. Do you know when he will be at Rock N Roll Ribs?

  5. KD says...

What a great place. Never would have heard about it. Went last night for dinner with some friends. This place has amazingly good bbq and I love the long haired manager with the short sleeves muscle shirt with arms covered in tatoos. This place is bbq and rock n roll combined. Small but comfortable. Don’t miss this one.

Use to cut Nicko’s hair. Haven’t seen him in a few years. Great guy, lovely wife. Phenomenal drummer. Hadn’t heard about this ribs venture. Will definitely give it a shot.

  7. Don S. says...

I am a big fan of Mississippi Sweet in Boca. I think that their ribs are outrageously good and there sweet potato chips incredible.
Last night I tried Rock N Roll and its ribs are as good if not better. Also loved its French fries.
I am not that big on Park Avenue. Its ok but these two are better.
The real sleeper in the ribs dept. is Johnnie Brown’s in Delray. Excellent.

i think that 80% of the people who were in this restaurant when my wife and i were there were hoping to meet niko mcbrain. he wasnt there. they look like rockers from the 70s. on the food it is pretty good. the ribs were just right. the garlic toast was real good. the chicken was bland. the burger was very good same for the ff.
we’ll be back and wouldnt mind seeing niko.

  9. Carl S. says...

The bbq ribs are fair. The bbq chicken is crap. You are better off going to Shorty’s in the same area. Super beef ribs, mac & cheese, corn, french fries. The pork ribs are okay but nothing special.

  10. RFK says...

The best bbq in Boca-Coral Springs area is Park Avenue. Great meaty ribs and chicken. Huge portions. Cheap prices.
I tried Rock N Roll not too good. Chicken was dry. Ribs nothing special.

This place is killer. The ribs are definitely better than PA. I ‘ve been to Shorty’s a few times and thought it was crap. At RnRR We tried baby backs and spares. Bloody delicious. The baked beans were the best I’ve EVER had, and I’ve eaten alot of BBQ beans, … excuse me. Don’t waste your time with anything else except this and Tom Jenkins. I like Georgia Pig but they char the ribs too much. Lay off the charing and I’ll drive to Davie more often for the 12 dollar rib plate.

  13. johnny d says...

i enjoyed rock n roll, but the food is better at pa ribs, shorty’s is also better.

  14. jg says...

ate at lucille’s bbq in boca. st loius ribs were really good, corn nibblets had no flavor, french fries really good.

  15. KR says...

Park Avenue BBQ runs circles around this place. Try PA for really good bbq.

  16. Gary Goldberg says...

    Good bbq joint.

  17. Mr. Beef Ribs says...

jeff, i gave up eating pork ribs about a year ago. other than shorty’s i haven’t found a rib restaurant that serves beef ribs. shorty’s aren’t good. do you have any suggestions where i can get bbq beef ribs that are real good?

  18. JeffEats says...

Mr. Beef Ribs: Just had a chance to read your post.

Every so often, Copper Canyon in Boca Raton has a “beef ribs” special. They are really good.

I would call Copper Canyon to make sure that it has beef ribs on the day that you plan to go. Like I said before, the beef ribs are a special and aren’t on the menu every day.

    Thanks for reading…

bbq chick and ribs were excellent.

  25. Meg & Richard says...

Did not have a good experiance. Will give them another try.The ribs were severly burnt and the brisket was dry and cut too thick.

  26. robertw says...

I had the ribs twice on takeout and thought they were pretty good. Ribs are one of those subjective things. Some people like them a certain way and if the place doesnt do that they dont like it. I used to like Tony Roma’s which is pretty much gone in this area.

  27. chewy says...

First time eating there this pm.
Wife’s BBQ chicken was delicious. Same for my babyacks.
Corn fair same for ff, mixed vegetables and cole slaw were good. Priced for about $32 we had two good meals. By the way the Texas toast was just fair.
