Heart Stoppers Sports Grill (Delray Beach)

Posted on January 17th, 2010 · American Delray Beach

***** Heart Stoppers Sports Grill, 1100 Linton Boulevard, Delray Beach, Florida 33444 (561) 276-2554.

Yesterday, I had lunch at Heart Stoppers a “diner” joint in Delray Beach. A great review in BurgerBeast www.burgerbeast.com turned me on to this restaurant which has been open about 1-month. By the way, NYC’s “Daily News” did an article about the joint on January 8, 2010 and I understand that NBC’s “Today Show” will be filming an in-store segment on Januray 27, 2010.

The best way to describe Heart Stoppers, is a neighborhood lunch-dinner DINER which is themed with “hospital equipment.” There are blood pressure machines, wheel chairs, bed pans, etc…The waitresses are pretty young ladies dressed as nurses wearing fishnet stockings… but, trust me on this, owner Iggy Lena is running a “wholesome” joint, as the costumes leave everything to the imagination. Let me put it to you this way, dads will enjoy the view and the little tots-will be just fine.

At this stage of the game take a look at Heart Stoppers’ website www.the hearstopper.com for menu/prices.

Heart Stoppers’ menu is loaded with appetizers, salads, sandwiches, burgers, subs, wings, desserts. Yesterday, I sampled in no particular order…sliders, french fries, onion rings, sweet potato fries, philly cheese steak sub, chicken wings, fried twinkies/oreos.

Now let’s talk turkey…I thought that the “hospital theme” was cute, but a bit on the gimmericky side …then again, it was the theme– that caught the Daily News and Today Show’s attention—Now let’s talk food. I enjoyed everything that I tried…the food is very good and reasonably priced. The fried twinkies/oreos topped with whipped cream are worth the price of admission alone. By the way, the three nurses on duty were extremely competent and from what I saw, kept the food “rolling” (hospital carts are used to deliver orders) out of the kitchen…owner, Iggy is a super host.

Just so you know, Heart Stoppers is located in-line in a large crappy-shopping center on Linton Boulevard…so you may want to set the old GPS or get driving instructions before venturing out.

Heart Stoppers is a lunch-dinner joint. It is real casual— and has a bar area (beer) with plenty of flat-screen tvs.

I really enjoyed Heart Stoppers…its menu is right up my alley—loaded with stuff that give cardiologists nightmares…then again, you only go-round once.

Heart Stoppers is open 7 days a week for lunch and dinner.

I and a few buddies tried Heart Stoppers last week. First, you are right that it is a lousy location but we still found it. You are also right that the medical theme is a tad too cute. You are also right that the food is on whole very good. We all had burgers and the meat was as fresh as could be. The burgers are right up there with 5 Guys. The onion rings were thin and have a real nice coating, they were a bit too oily but still good. The fries were crispy but not the best that I have eaten. We also had some wings that were naked with parmesan topping. The wings were delicious.

jeff eats, you did a brief mention on Heart Attack Grill on 7/30/08 http://www.heartattackgrill.com which is in chandler arizona. i have been to both heart stopper and heart attack and while heart attack is a much slicker sexier joint heart stopper has amuch larger and diversified menu. two great places with different takes on a common theme.

I give this place 2 weeks before they are sued by the Heart Attack Grill. They are an absolute knock off (minus the class) The Heart Attack Grill already shut down the Flatliner Grill in April 2009

I agree with Victor. What a complete lack of imagination! Over 350 eat for free! Wonder how they came up with that. Heart Stoppers is the same thing but with a bigger menu. I am going to open a place that serves wings and burgers and call it Shooters. Maybe have the staff dress in short shorts and call it my Idea. Does Heart Stoppers know about “trade dress laws”.

Good place for a burger and fries. The decor is cheesey and nothing special. The execution is not very good. The food was very good and that’s what really counts. The location is going to doom Heart Stoppers very bad spot and the neighborhood isn’t the best.

ate at steak and shake which is located in same center. next time out i’m going to try heart stopper although it is almost double the price. the restaurant looks silly with the medical equipment but i’m going with your recommendation.

In terms of legality and common decency Heart Stoppers is a complete outrage. Take a look at this link and judge for yourself: http://twitpic.com/yy7pd

I have been to Heart Stopper and Heart Attack Grill. Grill only has bugers and fries while Stopper has a full menu of things like wings, subs. Both make a decent enough hamburger, not as good as a 5 Guys or In-N Out but good. These are fun places to go but not too often. The novelty wears off real fast.

Thought the food was exceptionally greasy. I had onion rings and the serving plate was filled with oil. Bacon cheeseburger was good but the ff were greasy.

This is a rip off of Heart Attack Grill in Arizona. The are currently being sued for stealing the premise. Quite frankly, not that good.

I liked it. Good burgers and fries. Waitresses are easy on the old eyes.
