The Original Pancake House (Boca Raton, Aventura, Miami, Delray Beach,Fort Lauderdale, Royal Palm Beach, Palm Beach Gardens, Plantation, Southwest Ranches)

***** The Original Pancake House, 7146 Beracasa Way, Boca Raton, Florida 33483 (561) 395-2303.

The Original Pancake House is a “pancake house”…think Denny’s, Perkins, IHOP and you got the picture. There are currently, 9 locations in South Florida.

Now…for the report. The Original Pancake House (I tried the Boca Raton location) runs absolute circles around Denny’s, Perkin’s and IHOP. Just so we are straight, anything and everybody runs circles around Denny’s, which “in my humble opinion” is one of the worst run–disgusting chains in all-of-America. On the other hand, Perkin’s and IHOP are decent-enough and serve reasonably priced breakfast and other stuff…

As mentioned previously…The Original Pancake House is the best of breed. Real good eggs, pancakes, waffles, soups, salads, sandwiches. If you are looking for top-notch bagels, bialys, appetizing, this chain ain’t for you. Think rural-America and you’ll do just fine here.

If you need a break (everyone does) from the bagel-deli arena…give The Original Pancake House a shot. The company’s website www.ophsf.fdn.com has menu/prices/locations.

Depending on location..all do breakfast & lunch, some do dinner.

    Jeff —

I agree that OPH has good food, but in that Beracasa Way area, I can’t break free of the gravitational pull of Pastrami Queen!

South Ocean: Just had a chance to read your post.

The Original Pancake House serves some excellent breakfasts. Like I said in my review, it’s a nice change from the bagel-deli syndrome which is wide spread down here in South Florida.

On your Pastrami Queen comment, you are right on the money. PQ is a very special restaurant. Probably the best “NY Kosher Style” joint in S. Florida. I eat there quite frequently and find the food terrific.

The shopping center which has PQ also has The Original Pancake House, not to mention Nino’s Italian Restaurant. That threesome packs quite a wallop.

    Thanks for reading…

Jeff, the other day i ate at the new loc on glades. it replaced the one that your wrote about. the food is very good but a word to the wise once you start to add things to an omlette you could end up with one costing $17 like i did. so be careful and just stick with items listed.

Ate at the one in Aventura once. Keep meaning to go back. Breakfasty, solid meal, excellent quality, MONSTER portions, bit pricey, but you get so much, you can split a meal. Overall, pretty good.
