***** Gramercy Bagels and Deli, 15200 Jog Road, Delray Beach, Florida 33446 (561) 496-5400.

The folks in Delray Beach, Boynton Beach and Boca Raton just got real lucky…About 2-weeks ago a “New York Style” bagel-deli joint named Gramercy Bagels opened in the Atlantic Plaza Shoppes…and I gotta tell you, based on today’s-lunch this place is going to be an absolute homerun.

At this juncture, I would suggest that you check Gramercy’s website
gramercybagels.com for menu/prices/photos.

Today, I did lunch…first off, Gramercy Bagels is 5500 square feet…for the non-carpenters out there, that’s big. When you enter the store, there is an enormous and I do mean enormous area for takeout stuff…soups, salads, sandwiches, meats-smoked fish, pastries, bagels, bialys…you name it and its probably there. There is also a dining room which seats 155. To give you some idea of what we are talking about here, the owner Andy Hopta told me that all 26 types of bagels, bialys, breads, flagels, salads, soups…are prepared in-house. Just so you know, the bagels are made the “right way”…boiled and then baked.

Anyway…if you check Gramercy’s website you will find a handful of photos which really show the joint-off. Let’s just say, that this is one of the most attractive-looking bagel-deli joints that I have been to. When you look at the takeout-cases, you’ll be like a kid in a candy store…you are going to want to try everything.

As for the old food-test…matzo ball soup (A), pastrami (B), corned beef (B+), chopped liver (A), chicken salad (B+), potato salad (A), cole slaw (A), macaroni salad (A), Israeli salad (A), cucumber salad (A), french fries (B+ only Nathan’s gets an (A), everything bagel (A), pumpernickel bagel (A), rye bread (A), raspberry ruglah (B), cinammon ruglah (B+), coffee (A). For you weisenheimers out there, I just “tasted” a-drop of everything and there were 3-of us at the table. Also note, the (A) for coffee…one of the best cups I have had in a long long long time.

Prices are neighborhood bagel-deli prices. Service, you’d never know that this joint has only been open 2-weeks…real smooth operation.

There are a ton of bagel-deli joints in South Florida. This is one of the best ones that I have eaten in.

Gramercy Bagels is open 7 days a week 7am-4pm.

Jeff – Like the revised website. Welcome to the 21st century. Been to the Gramercy Deli 6 times now and food has always been excellent. Menu is terrific. Today was my first time during peak hours (12:15 PM) and, simply put, they need more help. The bottleneck was the single hostess who could only do 1 task at a time. She gave preference to taking names instead of seating patrons. Took too long to get a table when the tables were empty when we walked in. They better revise their procedures or have more people working during lunch/dinner hour or they will get killed when the season comes. Once seated, all was excellent – food and service.

The restaurants owner, very nice, Andy. The owner’s FATHER, on the other hand, not nice at all! We watched and heard him harrasing a poor woman with a service dog, telling her he didn’t have to allow the dog in his restaurant and also told her he was the owner. The father should learn some manners and know Florida Law. We know Andy, he is a very nice young man, must have gotten that trait from his mother. The food is average, the help is average, the prices very high for the residents in the area. I don’t think we will be going there again, so many other wonderful deli’s in our area.

      • Estelle says...

The food is great, the service is wonderful and the owner’s father is a true gentleman.
I’m going there tomorrow for the delicious waldorf chicken salad wrap, yummy!!!

  2. jenna says...

    food average…way way overpriced

    • Mike says...

If Jenna thinks the food is way overpriced she probably wants a free handout and certainly hasn’t gone to other restaurants of this type in the general area!

  3. Dennis W. says...

    I enjoy Gramercy for breakfast.

  4. T. Seltzer says...

During the past few months my wife and I have eaten dinner 3 times at Gramercy. The food is good. Same goes for the service and prices. The owner Andy and his GM Steve are always around to make sure that everything goes just right.

  5. Jane Kushner says...

This has to be one of the top 5 bagel places in the Boca-Delray-Boynton area.

  6. ron e says...

    gramercy is a good bagel restaurant. i like 3 g’s better but 3 g’s doesn’t do breakfast.

    • Shelli says...

FYI, 3 G’s most definitely does breakfast…the BEST around. I think it might open at 8AM.

  7. Larry Fox says...

I think that Gramercy is one of the best bagel delis around. Clean, reasonable priced, good service and good food. What more could you ask for?

  8. nick says...

    good breakfast place

  9. David says...

Just tried some bagels and flagels. Those from Gramercy are nowhere near as good as you get at Way Beyond Bagels – less flavor & taste, too much dense dough. Disappointing!

  10. Mr. Irwin says...

Originally from the Bx. Down here over 40 years. Gramercy is an excellent bagel place. Good bagles, bialys, appetizing. It is very good for breakfast and lunch. For dinner it could be stronger. Not as good as 3 G’s which is a few minutes away.

  11. sk says...

Have eaten in loads of bagle places. This is one of the best. Clean, fair prices and good food.

  12. Don Henerman says...

One of my favorite breakfast haunts.

  17. Harriet Rofheart says...

Arrived home from a trip and we decided to try the Gramercy for dinner again. The Mushroom Barley soup was awful. Returned it for a salad which was limp. Ordered chicken dinne which was decent. Then the blueberry cobbler was served – just awful – a dish of mashed up blueberries and no crust.
My husband ordered the special which was porkchops. I have never seen pok chops like this. I uWe thought it was chicken cutlets – so flagt and very little bone

    • Janice Pinkler says...

I eat there all the time and love the cherry and apple (apple has raisins, so delish) cobbler, I haven’t tried the blueberry one yet; however, cobblers aren’t supposed to have crusts.

I usually get items from the deli, greek salad or wraps. Always delicious

    • i totally agree with janice, cobbler is not suppose have crust order pie next time, my wife made me stop there and boy what a treat that was the best cheese cake i ever ate in my life and i have been to new york a i still think about it dreaming so to speak. as i live in another state if i didn’t i’d move next door. my wife had the blueberry cobbler wanted the reciepe but i told honey you can’t bake anyway. what a great meal and the desserts where to die for i wouldpay to have one of those cheese cakes sent to my house!!!!

      • Frankie Miller says...

Did you go to McNichol Middle school, live on VanBuren and 26th Avenue. Have 7 brothers and sisters, one named David and one named Mary? I was the little girl that went to Colbert and used to leave notes on your bicycle that you parked at Colbert Elem.

  18. Harriet says...

Tried Gramercy again for dinner. It was awful. The mushroom barley was not what it used to be and I returned it for a salad. The salad was limp. I ordered chicken dinner which was OK. Then the dessert came – a blueberry cobbler – just a dish of blueberries with whip cream but no crust. Then my husband ordered one of the specials of the evening – pork chops – are you kiddng. It came flat like a chicken cutlet and burnt. Sent it back. He then ordered a Corn beef sandwich which he knew would be a safe choice. When are you going to serve dinners that are consistently good. It is always one day good the next time awful. Will not be eating dinners there again. Your breakfasts and lunches are great.

  19. karen wechsler says...

    good breakfasts and lunches.
    dinner isn’t too good.

  20. i had lunch there but as i said earlier i live out of state so on the way to the airport we stopped and i will tell what my wife wants to relocate to that area from another state those desserts could just be the final touchto convince me to leave all the snow behind and go for it. i travel to ny alot the think the are the only ones who can make acheesecake the need totry these omg what a treat. maybe we will be back sooner than later larry e

  21. KNDY says...

    I like Gramercy for Breakfast.
I think that Gramercy does a terrible job for lunch and dinner.
The problem I have is that Gramercy tries to do many NYC Kosher Style dishes. Things like chopped liver are absolute disasters. I could swear that mayo is being used.
I suspect that the owners really don’t know how to properly make these kinds of food.
When it comes to eggs they are fine but when it comes to doing ethnic food, not too good.

  22. HOWARD S. says...

Our community has used Gramercy for our catered functions since their opening. The chopped liver is really excellent as are their other offerings. KNDY sounds like a jealous competitor trying to distract. Not very nice.

    • izzy says...

i really like their food. but their liver is lousy. i’ll bet you anything that mayo is in there.

    • Ned says...

      Howard S.:
If you think that Gramercy’s liver is good, respectfully you have no idea idea what good chopped liver is all about. Their liver is HORRENDOUS. Now, their bagels are good but their liver is HORRENDOUS.

  23. SANDY J says...

Had dinner at Gramercy Monday night and it was excellent. From the basket of breads to the steak to the cheesecake dessert, everything was done really well. Not only was the food done well but the server really cared about us. Where do you see that? Our compliments to the staff for a great evening. We definately will be back.

  24. Melvin says...

    Very good breakfasts.

  27. jay jay says...

    i like this bagel joint,

  28. chewy says...

good for bkfst and lunch. dinners are a bit weak.

  29. BOBBY says...

Gramercy is a good breakfast place. Good bagels, eggs etc. When it comes to dinner, something seems to be misising with the food. Supposedly this is suppose to be a NYC kosher style deli. The food isn’t even close as to what’s suppose to be.

  30. MARILYN says...

I read the comments about Gramercy’s dinners being less of a hit then the rest of their menu. I suggest that you give it a try. We eat there often and the dinners are really good. Not only are the dinners good but the servers are really nice. The ambiance is so far above the others. You’re not eating in a plain room with tables. Try it!

    • Jane Kushner says...

      Marilyn,
      Let’s talk turkey here.
Gramercy is a very good bagel place. Its breakfasts, bagels etc are excellent. Their counter people and servers are also very good.
When it comes to dinners, this place is not good.
I’m not sure where you come from, but trust me, the cooking which is suppose to be NYC kosher-Jewish style doesn’t come close to being the real deal. How do I know, I was born and bred in Queens. Lived there for 60 years. I am Jewish and have eaten in more delis in my day than I care to remember.
There is no question in mind that the owners aren’t Jewish as their versions of OUR dishes don’t even come close.
While I am on the subject of the real McCoy, try Ruven’s which is a bit North of Gramercy. This restaurant is the real deal. The food tastes, smells and looks like real NYC kosher style food.

  31. Alan says...

    Jane:
If I had to guess, I would think these comments were written by Ruven’s themselves. Seems as if someone is nervous.
From the looks of things, you better get to Ruven’s quickly as they appear to be running out of time. I do like Gramercy as you can probably tell. It’s a great place.

    • olon says...

      good for bkfst and lunch.
dinners are not good really that simple.
      3 g’s knows the game.

  32. Arthur Levinson says...

    Jeff Eats:
Born and bred Bronx boy here. Moved to Boca 20 years ago. Was raised on real bagel stores where bagels and bialys were basically the whole game.
IMHO Sage in Hallandale has the some of the best bagels going. I also think that Gramercy’s bagels are really good.
What I like about Gramercy is that its breakfasts are good, the prices are right , the service is professional and the restaurant is spotless.
The bottomline, if your in Hallandale get your bagels at Sage. If you are in Boca-Delray-Boynton get bagels and do breakfast at Gramercy.

  33. ZDOG says...

Very good for breakfast and lunch.
Nice selection of very good bagels and bialys.

    ZDOG

  34. LK says...

    I enjoy Gramercy for breakfast.
    Dinners aren’t very good.

  35. Robin says...

I think LK should revisit Gramercy and try dinner one more time. They apparently have their season staff going with a GREAT new chef and seasoned cooks – I asked. My group ate there and the traditional offerings are really excellent. I think you would agree, their service is really the best in the area.

  36. walt says...

I went to Gramercy for the first time yesterday at the request of a friend instead of the Palm Grill which I’ve been eating at for years. Don’t understand what all the fuss is about. Found the food to be overpriced and food was very average. Service was good, but overall found it completely overrated. Palm Grill at Villa delray golf course has incredible food at half the price.

  37. ERIN says...

Gramercy is one of my favorite bagel places. Good food at good prices. That’s what you get.

    • bb says...

  39. BL says...

5 of us went to gramercy deli last night, 1/20/12 for dinner. arriving at 6:30PM, ana who was not very nice, said they were getting our table ready & would be about 5 minutes. one hour later we still were not seated. food took forever & was not right. waitress was overworked & not enough staff. we will never step foot in gramercy deli in boynton beach again.

    • Kv says...

Gramercy has never had a hostess named Ana. Plus are we to believe you were told a 5 minute wait, but you waited an hour??? Please!!!
The food is great, the service is great and you sound ridiculous!!

  49. E3 says...

    Jeff,
A lot of really mediocre food for a reasonable price.

  50. MK says...

    Had breakfast there this morning.
Got there at 9 am and it was busy with a line to get in.
Had a western omelete with a toasted evrything bagel.
The omelet had a very oily taste and the ham wasnt even cooked. The bagel was dry.
Not the best breakfast Ive had.
