Fran’s Chicken Haven (Boca Raton)

Posted on December 20th, 2006 · American Boca Raton Fast Food

*****  Fran’s Chicken Haven, 1925 North Federal Highway, Boca Raton, Florida, (561) 395-0781.

Fran’s makes some of the best fried chicken that you have ever tasted. This joint has been around something like 40 years and is an absolute hole in the wall. Basically a take-out joint, there are a few tables and a counter for those who want to “dine in.” FRIED is the word here…shrimp, corn, french fries, onion rings. Everything is absolutely delicious.

Don’t tell your cardiologist about this joint.

Fran’s is open 7 days a week for lunch and dinner.

Pickedup chicken from Fran’s. You are right, outrageously good fried chicken.

Fran’s has been around for years. I think that the business is now in the hands of its third owner. I use to be a regular when Fran ran the store. I was also a customer of the second owner but not as much as when Fran ran it. I recently tried the new owner. The chicken was the same, but the guy was out of gravy, didn fry corn any more, didnt give me rolls with my chicken. So, I think I see a business that is close to its end, because the LOVE ain’t there anymore.

Tried this joint. Skinny small chicken wings. Place needs a bath and a paint job too. Getting back to the food… just ok. Slightly overpriced to sit at the counter and watch wings being fried in hot oil.. just a joint.

Fran’s has a new owner. It’s closed for renovations. When Fran owned Fran’s it was great. The next two owners fu@ked the place up. The food has benn going downhill for years. We’ll see if the new owner can bring back the food and glory .

Jeff, not counting the original Fran, I think the store is now into its third owner.
Its now a kosher place closed on Friday nights and Saturday.
The menu is changed for dietary reasons.
Havent been there yet but solely based on the closing days and the fact that the area that Fran’s is in has virtually no “kosher” Jews I give this owner no chance whatsoever of making a go of the business no matter how good the food is.
See if im right and see if it lasts more than 1 year.
