“They had a hard time convincing me it wasn’t me. It’s uncanny.”
– BILLY JOEL in the New York Times

Mike DelGuidice, one of Long Island’s most celebrated performers. After 18 years of playing Billy Joel’s music in his band Big Shot, Mike DelGuidice now lives a dream come true. In October of 2013, Billy Joel heard Mike sing, and personally hired Mike to join his band. Mike’s encyclopedic knowledge of the Billy Joel catalog made him a perfect fit as background vocalist and guitarist for BILLY JOEL. And now you can see Mike on tour with Billy Joel all over the US & world in major arenas and stadiums including every month at the iconic Madison Square Garden.

Mike is a brilliant vocalist and composer and a master of several instruments including bass guitar, guitar, piano and drums.

He is the author of two albums “My Street” and “Miller Place” and several of his new songs are currently under favored consideration for film soundtracks, including Mike’s song, “Ordinary Guy” which is the theme song for the Keven James sitcom, “Kevin Can Wait”.
Mike now juggles his busy schedule with his band Big Shot along with weekly shows around the USA and abroad with Billy Joel.

$20 Billion In Unused Gift Cards

* 20 Billion In Unused Gift Cards.

As the late Arte Johnson use to say-”Very Interesting”…

$20B in unused cards a ‘gift’ to businesses
By Gregory Bresiger
March 7, 2020 | 10:53pm New York Post

Millions of Americans pay billions of dollars for nothing.

They subsidize some of the biggest companies in America by buying gift cards that are never cashed in, and getting store credits that go unused. Others wait so long that an inactivity charge reduces card value.

The outstanding collective gift card/store credit balance is $20 billion, according to a new survey by Bankrate.com. That’s about $167 for every adult American.

“I have to admit these amounts are amazing. People are just getting these cards and then forgetting about them,” said Bankrate card industry analyst Ted Rossman, adding that some corporations have “billions of dollars in unused value.”

The Bankrate study found that 22 percent of respondents say their unused credits range in value from $50 to $99; 21 percent between $100 and $199; 14 percent between $200 and $499; and 5 percent $500 or more.

Millennials tend to have the highest amount of unused credits — about $234 — compared with Baby Boomers ($151), Generation Xers ($128) and Generation Zers, ($103). And those with an annual income of $80,000 or more are the most likely to have unused value, the study said.

“According to the 2009 Card Act,” the study said, “an issuer can charge a monthly inactivity fee pulled from your card’s balance on gift cards that have gone unused for a year or more. You do, though, have five years from activation until your gift card can legally expire.”

There are ways to stop subsidizing big companies besides just using your credit. Rossman said sites such as Cardpool.com will buy the unused value on cards for about 60 cents on the dollar.

***** Myron’s Delicatessen, 1800 SW 3rd Street, Pompano Beach, Florida 33069 (800) 843-4753.

Last night I played some poker at the Isle Casino & Racing at Pompano Park. After losing only 22 bucks (just in case my wife is reading this) I and a couple of friends had a “bite” at Myron’s Deli which is located in the casino-facility.

Myron’s is a New York City Kosher Style Deli…the joint is done-up to look like a deli circa 1950s. Just so you know, all of the restaurants at the Isle are owned/operated by the Isle of Capri Casino…take a look at its website at www.isleofcapricasino.com for a list of restaurants/hours/and other details.

Last night, Myron’s passed the pastrami, corned beef, brisket test. The sandwiches were nice sized. The meats were as good as those served in your favorite neighborhood bagel joint. As for prices, $3-$4 more than what the local joints get…Hey! come on, the casino is like a movie theatre or an amusement park, you are what they call a “captive audience,” so you pay more, it’s just that simple. Have you seen what it costs to “feed” a family of 4 at a Heat or Marlins’ game?

You now know about a joint where you can get a nice deli sandwich, soup, knish…assuming Lady Luck hasn’t entirely wiped you out.

Myron’s is open Sunday-Thursday 11am-1am and Friday-Saturday 11am-3am.
