ANDREW DICE CLAY is proud to be one of America’s most controversial and outrageous comics in history. In 1990 he became the first comedian to sell out Madison Square Garden two nights in a row. That same year he played the lead role in the comedy-mystery film ‘The Adventures of Ford Fairlane’ and has starred in numerous classic 80’s films such as ‘Pretty In Pink’, ‘Casual Sex’ and many more.
Over the last few years, Clay’s role in Woody Allen’s ‘Blue Jasmine’ got critical praise for his role alongside Cate Blanchett and Alec Baldwin. He’s had recurring roles on HBO’s hit show ‘Entourage’ and Martin Scorsese’s Vinyl. His latest film ‘A Star Is Born’, written and directed by Bradley Cooper, was released last October where Dice plays Lady Gaga’s father.

LOVED LOVED LOVED…Danny’s All American Diner & Dairy Bar in Tampa.
Simple tale to tell…which by the way, Jeff Eats already told you on April 22, 2012!
Fast food burgers/hot dogs/fries/onion rings/subs-sandwiches/salads/shakes/ice cream- order/pickup at inside counter or outside window- no inside seating/a load of outside benches to eat at! All kinds of old baseball memorabilia -“decor.”
Did Jeff Eats tell you that he and Mrs. Jeff Eats LOVED LOVED LOVED- Danny’s All American Diner & Dairy Bar?- If I didn’t- we LOVED LOVED LOVED the joint! Just between you guys and Jeff Eats, if Danny’s was “close” to my Boca Raton house- regardless of what my cardiologist said, I would eat there everyday- that’s how good its food is…
Now, no bs-here, a recent Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats’ -lunch netted us some absolutely delicious flat top grilled-hamburgers/hot dogs- onion rings and French fries. Trust Jeff Eats on this one, Danny’s stuff is right up there with- the best fast food burgers/hot dogs/fries/onion rings that I’ve had in a very-very long time!
Let Jeff Eats wrap this one up for you guys…
Danny’s is an absolute must try!- the food is dynamite, the prices are reasonable, the staff is as pleasant as can be, the decor/vibe kill and Danny’s “salads” will keep- the vegans, vegetarians, party poopers and dieters in your car from busting your-balls when you pull-up to the joint!
You can check Danny’s menu/prices/info at dannysallamericandiner.com
Danny’s All American Diner & Dairy Bar is open 7 days a week 10:30am-6pm.

There is an old saying…”One picture is worth a thousand words.”—With that in mind, I need you guys to go to www.dannysallamericandiner.com—when you get there- in addition to menu/prices, you will find photos/videos which will “explain” this joint in detail. Basically, you order from a small building’s window and pickup your own food—you eat outside on picnic tables. Just so you know, Danny’s was featured on tv’s ‘Diners, Drive-ins & Dives’–that “segment” is on Danny’s site…for good or bad, thanks to Guy Fieri, Danny’s customer base is now just not limited to townies.
For you purists out there, Danny’s really isn’t a diner—actually, it’s a hole in the wall-fast food joint that does breakfast stuff, burgers, franks, sandwiches, salads, fries, ice cream, shakes.
Before we go any further, I absolutely loved Danny’s. No lying, if Danny’s was by-my house, I’d eat there at least once a week.
The other day I did lunch at Danny’s…”tried”-bacon cheeseburger, french fries, onion rings, chocolate shake. For what’s it worth, I would match Danny’s “flat-top” grilled burger/fries/onion rings/shake against the best that I’ve had down here in South Florida. There really isn’t too much more that I can say about this joint other than–its food is tremendous, its dumpy roadside building has a great retro-vibe (watch the video), its prices are reasonable and Danny- a former marine (who cooks everything) captures the essence of what American roadside food is suppose to be-and not what the McDonald’s of the world have pushed on us.
I highly recommend Danny’s All American Diner & Dairy Bar.
Danny’s is open Monday-Friday 8am-6pm, Saturday 10:30am-3pm, closed on Sunday.

***** PDQ, 2341 North Federal Highway, Pompano Beach, Florida 33062, (954) 785-6285.
Real simple story to tell…
PDQ’s chicken tenders are absolute dynamite! They come either “crispy” or “grilled.”- 25 tenders run $31.80 and 50 go for $57.50.
Just wanted you guys to know, that on New Year’s Day 2016- Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats are having a whole bunch of people over to our house…
We just placed an order for 100 crispy- and 100 grilled tenders with PDQ’s Pompano Beach joint – we also got other stuff ordered… For the “math challenged” 2 x $57.50= $115.
When Jeff Eats sees a good deal, I like to tell you guys about it!
PDQ has 23 joints in Florida. You can check locations/menu/prices/info at eatpdq.com.

***** PDQ (People Dedicated to Quality), 2015 Okeechobee Boulevard, West Palm Beach, Florida 33409, (561) 594-1906.
On April 30, 2013 Jeff Eats told you guys about PDQ a “new” fast-food/casual chicken chain–that is scheduled to open its West Palm Beach location on Sunday, May 5, 2013. The April 30, 2013 writeup is reprinted “after” today’s “thoughts.”
For the record, this afternoon Jeff Eats “ate” at a Family & Friends outing in the West Palm Beach store and I gotta tell you, this joint is going to be an absolute homerun.
Before I tell you about my “meal”—for what it’s worth, I don’t really care for the name PDQ. To me, the letters P D Q really don’t convey what this joint is all about. Nothing for nothing, but the owners of this business have created a fast food/casual hybrid…think Panera Bread and you may appreciate where I’m going with this. What they “got” is an order at/pick up at the counter fast food restaurant that looks like an upscale sports bar. I loved the look of the joint (and yes, it’s got a load of large flat screen TVs) but if you do some checking, many people use the term PDQ to mean “fast” or “right away”…that said, I think the last thing that PDQ wants is for you to think of its food as being “fast food” The store is logoed with big letters that say, “People Dedicated to Quality”–so Jeff Eats sees where the PDQ comes from (actually if we wanted to get technical here it should be PDTQ)…personally, I wouldn’t have used PDQ because to a great number of people PDQ means “other” things. Jeff Eats’ personal favorites -Pretty Damned Quick and Pennies Dimes Quarters.
Now that Jeff Eats has pontificated on the PDQ name…let’s talk food.
First let me start by saying, this 4,200 square foot free standing building is absolutely great looking…it has a drive thru and looks like something right out of the Florida Keys. There is also a huge open kitchen and you can see everything being prepared. In talking with the its founders (who by the way, created the Outback Steakhouse chain) everything is freshly made and the restaurant has no freezers. While there, Jeff Eats got a kick out of watching the staff squeeze 100s of lemons for the fresh-squeezed lemonade—For you wise-guys out there, yes! I got a kick out of watching, nothing sinister, lewd or whatever your devious minds maybe thinking!
Jeff Eats “tried” the tenders, hand cut fresh French fries, chicken Caesar salad, fried chicken sandwich, turkey breast sandwich, grilled chicken sandwich, chocolate shake, apple slices with toffee—and I’m telling you, every item and I do mean every item was delicious. For the record–the food was “on the house”…which made it “easy” to literally order almost every menu item. If I got one bitch, I thought that the fries had just a drop too much salt on them—trust me, that one little itsy bitsy “problem” is easy to cure. Just a quickie, if you take a look at Jeff Eats’ 1/19/2007 Outback Steakhouse “review” note the salt-complaint… Goes to show you, Jeff Eats and the guys running this joint are consistent, if they are anything.
Check www.eatpdq.com for menu/prices/locations/pictures.
In talking to management, there are currently 4 Tampa, 2 North Carolina, 1 Oakland Park, 1 West Palm Peach PDQs…and “for” our purposes-2013-2014 planned locations-Wellington, Boca Raton and Pompano Beach.
Let me wrap this one up this way…
Based on what I saw, ate and heard PDQ is going to develop into a major national chain. The guys behind this deal know exactly what to do and how to do it…that is if they–
Just lose the salt shaker…
*****
April 30, 2013
PDQ’s menu features lightly fried chicken tenders/sandwiches, grilled chicken and turkey breast sandwiches, salads, French fries and shakes.
Just a quick heads-up…Jeff Eats is “hearing” tremendous things about a brand new-fast food chicken chain PDQ which currently has 4 Tampa/1 Oakland Park/1 West Palm Beach/2 North Carolina locations.
Haven’t tried the joint out yet, but some buddies of mine-told Jeff Eats that PDQ (Oakland Park) makes amazingly delicious grilled chicken/fried chicken tenders/turkey/salads/fries/shakes. One caveat, three of those buddies way back when- thought that the Edsel was going to be a homerun and the fourth guy to this very day-claims that aliens abducted him in 1989.
As I mentioned 4 seconds ago, there is one location in Oakland Park…this coming Sunday-May 5th, PDQ is opening a second South Florida location in West Palm Beach.
Check www.www.eatpdq.com for menu/locations.
For what it’s worth–the chain is owned by one of the guys who created the Outback Steakhouse chain. Nothing for nothing, a few quick conversations with a handful of fast food/casual restaurant developers–had them figuring that PDQ had a real shot to develop into a major chain. The consensus was, that PDQ may appeal to a huge segment of Chik-fil-A’s customer base that is looking for a more diversified menu. Throw in 4,500 square foot stores/with drive thrus that are open on Sunday—and just maybe, PDQ has the formula to be a homerun-chain.
Bern’s Steak House, 1208 South Howard avenue, Tampa, Florida 33506, (813) 251-2421, bernssteakhouse.com.
A recent e-mail received from long time Jeff Eats’ reader, Andy Gold…
Hey Jeff,
As you know I’ve been reading you for years, blah, blah, blah.
Just curious, have you ever eaten in Bern’s Steak House in Tampa? The reason I ask, is because my wife and I are going to be visiting Tampa on some personal business the first week of March and we’ve been hearing about this legendary upscale Steak House for years and figured we’d give it a shot. It’s very hard to get a reservation, etc.
Your thoughts as always would be appreciated.
Thanks
Andy Gold
__________
Andy Gold,
As you may- or may not know, Bern’s has been around since 1956. If you check YELP and other review sites, many-many-many people swear by this joint!
Long story short, over the years I’ve eaten in the joint 3-times with the latest outing having been in January, 2020.
All I can tell you is that IMHO- Bern’s Steak House is an absolute JOKE! Its overpriced food stinks and its service is absolutely horrendous (no, make that- atrocious).
Just in case you were wondering, the reason for the 3- outings, business associates picked the joint.
As you know, food reviewing is purely a subjective call. You know the game- what I like, you may hate and vice versa.
In life there are things that can’t be explained…with that in mind, why anyone would rate Bern’s Steak House as being top-shelf is beyond my comprehension!
Thanks for being such a loyal reader…
DEFINITELY NOT A BERN’S STEAK HOUSE FAN!

Got a real good “mom & pop” American-diner joint for you…Gilbert’s 17th Street Grill.
The menu is not large…but has enough soups, salads, burgers, sandwiches, grilled items and desserts…so nobody’s gonna starve. ‘Shaq Bowl’ participants include Anthony Anderson, Tim Tebow, Olivia Culpo, Diplo, Ezekiel Elliott, Nelly and Offset.
Shaquille O’Neal — always a familiar face on the Super Bowl party scene courtesy of his wild bash Shaq’s Fun House — is heading to Tampa to mount a Sunday kick-off show, Mercari Presents The Shaq Bowl.
Broadcasting live from Tampa in a custom-built stadium, the event will feature athletes, celebrities and artists across two teams competing in challenges to win the first-ever Shaq Bowl trophy. The three-hour special kicks off at 3 p.m. ET and will stream free on Facebook and on the event’s website as well as being simulcast by LiveXLive across over 20 platforms including LiveXLive, YouTube, Twitch, TikTok, and Twitter.
“With no in-person events this year, I teamed up with Mercari to create The Shaq Bowl and connect Americans on the biggest day for sports of the year,” says O’Neal. “Featuring a ton of my celebrity friends competing in viral challenges, plus superstar musical artists all live from Tampa, prepare for the most fun and action-packed Big Game Sunday show ever.”
O’Neal will be among the few stars on the ground in Tampa this weekend as the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has dampened the typically bustling Super Bowl events scene. Hosted by former NFL stars Terrell Owens and Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson along with Sarah Walsh, the event will even have its own mid-game entertainment courtesy of The Shaq Bowl Halftime Show Presented by Pepsi Stronger Together. It will feature a performance by Migos and DJ Diesel with a surprise A-list guest.
As far as the competition portion, suiting up for Team Kansas City will be Diplo, Ezekiel Elliott, Olivia Culpo, Quavo, Steve-O and The Miz. Competing on behalf of Team Tampa Bay will be Anthony Anderson, Drew McIntyre, Nelly, Offset, Tim Tebow, and Winnie Harlow. Also featured: A race between O’Neal and artist Bryson Tiller in Papa John’s Epic Stuffed Chair, billed as “the ultimate sports-watching seat to enjoy the new Epic Stuffed Crust.”
Pepsi Stronger Together is partnering with the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation (NRAEF) to donate $100,000 in grants to help struggling restaurants. Pepsi will also rollout out “Restaurant Battles,” a showcase for four local Tampa restaurants that will see them compete for a $10,000 grant. Other sponsors include Corona, Quaker Chewy, Skillshare, Xersion, JC Penny, Bacardi, Truff, Aeropostale, Nautica, and Emsculpt Neo.
The Shaq Bowl is produced by Medium Rare, a company that previously rolled out Gronk Beach, Shaq’s Fun House, The Sports Illustrated Awards, Shaq vs Gronk, and Black Entrepreneurs Day.
