D- DAY June 6th,1944
* D- DAY June 6th,1944.
On June 6, 1944, D-Day (Operation Overlord) marked the Allied invasion of Normandy, France, during World War II. Nearly 156,000 Allied troops, including American, British, and Canadian forces, landed on five beaches (Utah, Omaha, Gold, Juno, and Sword) after a massive naval and aerial bombardment. The invasion aimed to create a second front in Europe against Nazi Germany and ultimately led to the liberation of France and a significant step towards the defeat of the German forces.
