Just received e-mail…

Jeff,
Maybe you can help me out, last week my wife and I missed The Long Run-Eagles Tribute when they played Mizner Park in Boca Raton. The rain weather forecast scared us off from going to the see the show at the Mizner Park Amphitheater.
I know that you really follow Florida’s music scene and know great places to see cover/tribute bands.
Do you know where and when The Long Run is working next in the Miami/Broward/Palm Beach area? We’d love to see them as their You Tube videos are amazing!
Thank you very much for all that you do.

    Jeff,
The guy’s wife probably has to also dress him.šŸ˜‹

By the way, The Long Run puts on a great show and Galuppi’s is a really good venue for cover/tribute bands. Good food and a real nice outdoor area for the bands.

Last night, I had an absolutely terrific time at a joint named Galuppiā€™s in Pompano Beach. Just so you know, Galuppiā€™s which calls itself ā€œGaluppiā€™s Restaurant, Patio Bar & Banquetsā€ is actually located on the public Pompano Beach Golf Courseā€¦ the view from its out-door patio of the course is absolutely amazing.

Galuppiā€™s is basically a restaurant/catering facility. There is a small indoor restaurant that has a large sit-at-bar, 4 booths and maybe a half-dozen hi-topsā€¦outside, there is another sit-at-bar and loads of tablesā€¦there is also a banquet room attached to the restaurant that can be used for private parties or for restaurant customers. Now, to put this whole layout in perspectiveā€¦go to Galuppiā€™s website at http://www.galuppis.com where you will find actual pictures of what I have been blabbing about, along with menu/prices/and other details.

Last night, Galuppiā€™s which does lunch and dinner 7 days a week and brunch on Sunday had The Beatlesā€™ tribute band ā€œAnthologyā€ performing from 8pm-midnight. Suffice it to say, this joint was absolutely packedā€¦ the restaurant-the banquet room-the outside bar/patioā€¦the band was on a small stage on the patio and Iā€™ll bet you that from 8:30pm-10:30 pm (time I was there) there were at least 500-600 people maybe even more, eatingā€¦drinkingā€¦dancing. I am telling you, it was an absolutely great ā€œparty.ā€ By the way, there was no cover charge or minimumā€¦so for the price of a meal or a drinkā€¦or for that matter, just walking inā€¦got you into this ā€œconcert.ā€

Just a quick note, ā€œAnthologyā€ was terrific. They were dressed in replicas of The Beatleā€™s Shea Stadium army-uniforms and had the requisite Beatle haircutsā€¦they did some great covers of The Beatlesā€™ hits. The group is extremely personable and their interaction with the crowd had the joint really jumping. Their faux British accents which came and went all evening long, added to the funā€¦and yes, they even have a left-handed bass player. You can check ā€œAnthologyā€ out at http://www.myspace.com/fab4anthology. I guarantee that based on last nightā€™s action, Galuppiā€™s owners will have ā€œAnthologyā€ back for another gig in the very near future.

I already gave you this jointā€™s websiteā€¦take a look at its menu. There are plenty of appetizers, salads, burgers, sandwiches, entrees and desserts to keep everyone busyā€¦By the way, the prices are very reasonable and last night our waitress Bobbi-Lynn was absolutely terrific despite the fact that the joint was absolutely packed (and I do mean packed). Last night I had babyback ribs, I also sampled the crab-cakes, snapper francaise and steak kabobs. The food is decent. Personally I would put it about ā€œ1-notchā€ above the stuff you get in your typical neighborhood sports bar. Just so you know, Galuppiā€™s also has tons of flat screen tv sets inside and outsideā€¦Last night every set was tuned to the Olympic Games, so if ā€œThe Beatlesā€ werenā€™t your game, you could scream for the American swimmers.

One thing that I found interestingā€¦the banquet room has sound-proof glass. Amazingly, while eating in the room, you couldnā€™t hear the out-door crowd or the band at all.

Galuppiā€™s is open for lunch and dinner 7 days a week and for brunch on Sunday. According to its website, the joint has all kinds of entertainment and ā€œspecialsā€ā€¦so If you want to try Galuppiā€™s, I would suggest that you ā€œcall aheadā€ to find out ā€œwhatā€™s on tapā€ (pun intended).
