Winn Dixie Does Kosher!

***** Winn Dixie Does Kosher!

Long story short,

The other day- one of Mrs. Jeff Eats’ friends- Andrea S. who keeps a kosher-home…was raving about how terrific the “kosher” food at Winn Dixie, 7024 Beracasa Way, Boca Raton was! Her rave-included that the bakery and the prepared foods were amazing.

Last night Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats picked-up a KOSHER WINN DIXIE WHOLE FRIED CHICKEN for $9.99 and a KOSHER WINN DIXIE WHOLE ROASTED CHICKEN for $6.95-and I gotta tell you both were absolutely delicious.

In walking around this particular Winn Dixie store…Jeff Eats noticed that in addition to an entire counter for kosher meats/prepared foods- there were literally “tons” of kosher bakery/grocery items all over the store.

Now nothing for nothing, in addition to the 2-chickens, Jeff Eats also bought a full rack of- cooked bbq St. Louis pork spare ribs for $11.99-and I gotta tell you, like the roast and fried chickens the ribs were delicious-tender, with a really nice sweet sauce.

Now you know and I know, that in recent years Winn Dixie literally got its ass kicked big time by Publix…I won’t even mention what Publix did to Albertson’s. With all of this in mind, Jeff Eats is “thinking” that Winn Dixie with this “kosher-thing”-in certain “neighborhoods” could actually develop into a pretty strong niche player. For sure, Winn Dixie will never-ever regain its former-Florida supermarket major league status- but it could develop into-for a guy like Jeff Eats-to being more than just an after-run supermarket-that I and Mrs. Jeff Eats frequent only when we are desperate.

Just so you know, those chickens and ribs-alone, will get Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats back to this- Winn Dixie for round-2!…and yes, I know that those ribs come from a pig.

You forgot to mention that the kosher kitchen is closed on Saturday so NO KOSHER FRIED CHICKEN is made.
I’ve had the fried chicken and it’s delicious.

Jeff, How do you live with yourself eating those bbq pork ribs?

I have been in the Boca Winn Dixie.
Even though it was remodeled it still looks old and run down to me.
    I’ll stick with Publix.

They totally remodeled the Hallandale store the one east of US1 and they did an amazing job. Their hot food case is fantastic. The have a prime rib and brisket that is a home run. Every day about 4:30 in the afternoon the sell a baguette right out of the oven and it’s like being in Paris. I couldn’t believe it but what an improvement.

I’ve had the bbq ribs. They are very good.
They are very similar to Costco’s bbq ribs but cost 1/3 less.

Winn Dixie is doing a great job on the prepared food front.

Until very recently I hadn’t shopped in Winn Dixie for years. It is no match for Publix.
A few weeks ago I heard about the KOSHER part of the Winn Dixie in Boca Raton and how good the prepared food was. I tried the roast chicken and I also tried the fried chicken and both were excellent. Publix’s non kosher fried and roast chicken are no match for these 2 birds. Costco is also no match on its roast chicken. I still do almost all of my supermarket shopping in Publix but when I am in the Winn Dixie’s center I do pick up these chickens there.

  7. Lena H says...

Winn Dixie’s non kosher roast chicken is also very good.

  8. Being kosher there aren’t too many supermarkets to shop in Boca Raton. TThis one has delicious prepared food and very reasonable prices.
