Real simple story,

This hole in the wall- deli has been in the exact same spot since 1974. If you want delicious-humongous-reasonably priced sandwiches, you now know where to go!

By the way, Jeff Eats mentioned the Large Turkey Off The Frame Sandwich-just to get your attention…everything is good at this joint!

Jeff, very surprised that you’d recommend a place using National Deli Meats. This stuff is garbage. The only place really doing it right down here is Zinger’s. And Blue Willy’s, albeit not a deli. I know you’ve praised both of these before…these are delicious sandwiches – not that National Deli Meats garbage.

      They all use National.
What matters is how they doctor it up.
      Pickle Barrel does it right.

Been eating there for over 20 years. Sandwiches are amazing. Sounds like you got a bit of bias going on with National Deli.
If National Deli is garbage as you say then how can you say Zinger’s is terrific? It uses National Deli according to you.

Zinger’s does NOT use National Deli Meats. Neither does Boca West, Blue Willy’s, or Katz’s (NY). National is the cheap stuff used by places like Pickle Barrel, Ruben’s, 3G’s, Flakowitz, etc. No bias here…just a true NY deli lover living in Florida.

I suggest you read “Save The Deli” by David Sax to get an idea of what I’m talking about: http://www.savethedeli.com

      True,
      Get a life.
      Almost all use National.
They stand in line to get in 3GS and Flakowitz.
      Pickles’ food is delicious.

Get a life? Very mature!!! We’re on a food blog.

“Almost all use National”…..yes, and that doesn’t make it good. It’s the Boar’s Head equivalent of Jewish deli meats…you know what to expect in terms of mediocre, consistent meats. Maybe for turkey it’s fine, but when we’re talking about a hot juicy corned beef or pastrami, this stuff just doesn’t cut it for me. And trust me, I know deli. Very well. Only a few bright spots stand out in the deli scene these days that serve up the good stuff.

“They stood in line to get 3G’s and Flakowitz”…..those crowds don’t know if they’re coming or going. These places are a short drive from their retirement communities and offer up 2-for-1 lunch specials. It’s cheap, they don’t have to travel, and it’s consistent for what it is. But in the world of a foodie (which is what JeffEats is about), they’re hardly nothing to write home about. The soups and knishs are good…and that’s where the fun ends. Except of course, for the comedic Seinfeld-like scenes one can observe waiting for a table.
