* McDonald’s Dumps Heinz————WTF!!!!!
* McDonald’s Dumps Heinz———————-WTF!!!!!
Did you guys catch this recent United Press International article?…
I don’t know about you guys, but in Jeff Eats’ book Heinz Ketchup is the “only way to go”…I don’t know about you, but the thought of Hunt’s Tomato Ketchup or some no name-brand ketchup on my burgers/fries doesn’t sit too well with me.
Read the article… personally Jeff Eats thinks that the folks running McDonald’s should be ashamed of themselves…looks to me like they couldn’t give a rat’s ass about guys like Jeff Eats and I’m assuming guys like you!

“OAK BROOK, Ill., Oct. 26 (UPI) — U.S. fast food giant McDonald’s said the ketchup it buys just got personal, saying it would quit doing business with H.J. Heinz because of a managerial change.
“As a result of recent management changes at Heinz, we have decided to transition our business to other suppliers over time,” McDonald’s said in a statement.
The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported Friday that McDonald’s is cutting ties with Heinz because former Burger King Worldwide Chief Executive Officer Bernardo Hees was just picked to run what is arguably the world’s most famous ketchup company.
Hees is a partner in 3G Capital which, along with Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway, purchased Heinz this year. Hees, meanwhile, remains the vice chairman of the board at Burger King, the Wall Street Journal reported.
Heinz said it would not comment on a customer’s business decisions, but the company had been pushing to regain some of the McDonald’s business, which first suffered a setback in the early 1970s, when a tomato shortage forced McDonald’s to find new suppliers, the Post-Gazette reported.
McDonald’s has 34,000 outlets, but in the United States Heinz has only been supplying two of its markets, Pittsburgh and Minneapolis, the newspaper said.”
Great find.
Absolutely absurd.
Love those Heinz takeout packets. Usually load up on them when I’m at fast food restaurants. Have them in the house.
Sorry to hear McDonald’s is no longer a possible source for me.
Sid,
What else do you glam from restaurants?
sugar packs.
Equal packs.
mayo packs.
mustard packs.
Hunt’s use to be Hunt’s Catsup. Then it changed its name to Hunt’s Tomato Ketchup. It is horrible tasting. I was raised on Heinz. McDonald’s is a dumb operation.
Jeff —
According to the article, unless you’ve been schlepping to Pittsburgh or Minneapolis for your Mickey D’s fix, you ain’t been getting Heinz ketchup for your fries anyway! What’s the beef?
I think Jeff’s beef is that McDonald’s should be having Heinz in all of its stores.
Call it a crazy thing, but a few weeks ago I got a handful of MacDoanld’s burgers which I normally don’t do and thought the taste was off. Now I know it was the ketchup.
It wasn’t the ketchup. They don’t use Heinz nationwide prior to this change
Sounds dumb to me.
Heinz is the premier brand.
(CAG) Conagra Foods owns Hunts and should be inline to supple McDonald’s; unless McDonald’s makes their own ketchup. Warren Buffet just bought Heinz and stands to lose the most. You can still get Heinz in those cool travel packages at Chick Fil A for free! If you travel to Europe they charge around 0.25 per packet of ketchup! ……Smile
Didn’t know this. Don’t really eat at Mickey D’s.
The whole thing sounds idiotic.
I was raised on Heinz and I’m 63.
Way back when my mother brought home Hunt’s Catsup. It was just once and she never did that again.
I’ve had other ketchups but nothing is as good as Heinz.
MCD shame shame shame on you.
I heard Hunts taste better with Pink Slime.
stop talking about your wife that way
Does it really matter what kind of ketchup you put on burgers made out of cow cheeks and pink slime?
The ketchup story is a non event. The reason–Mcdonalds DOES NOT serve Heinz Ketchup NATIONWIDE. They have not used the stuff for many many years. The story itself was pure hype. The only place where they used Heinz was in Pittsburgh which is the home of Heinz. John Kerry has plenty of the the red stuff since his wife is an heir to the Heinz family billions.
Look here to confirm what I say.
The impact of the change may be tasted more overseas. In the U.S., McDonald’s uses Heinz products only in Pittsburgh and Minneapolis restaurants.
