Zinger’s Delicatessen (Boca Raton)
***** Zinger’s Delicatessen, 7132 Beracasa Way, Boca Raton, Florida 33433, (561) 826-7323.
If, delicious- New York Kosher Style Deli is your game—you absolutely, positively have to give Zinger’s Delicatessen in Boca Raton a try.
For you fressers out there…Zinger’s in a “former” life, was Pastrami Queen (see 9/12/08 writeup)…to make a long story short, family “matters” resulted in Pastrami Queen closing in late 2010. This past Tuesday, Zinger’s opened for business—for our purposes, SAME OWNER!–NEW “NYC” DECOR!–SAME TERRIFIC FOOD!
Last night I ate dinner at Zinger’s.
Zinger’s is located in the exact-spot where Pastrami Queen was. Gary Zinger who owned Pastrami Queen is Zinger’s owner. The restaurant’s layout hasn’t changed, but the decor has…let’s just say, that stainless steel walls/ceiling and art-deco signage rival the best-deli decor here and in NYC. The joint has 3-flat screen tvs and a takeout counter that will make you want to quit Weight Watchers.
Let’s talk food…
To be perfectly honest with you, I seriously doubt that there is a better New York Kosher Style Deli down here in South Florida. I’ll even go so-far as to say, Zinger’s Delicatessen can easily hold its own with legendary players like NYC’s- Carneige, Stage, 2nd Avenue and Katz’s delis…if you aren’t a native Nooo Yoorker, please feel free to insert your hometown favorite delis’ names.
Just so you know, I was a Pastrami Queen “regular”…so, it was absolutely impossible to eat-at Zinger’s, shall we say incognito. The meal was “on the arm” with Gary Zinger literally having me “try” everything in the joint. Take it for what it’s worth, the pastrami, corned beef, brisket, turkey off the bone are as good as it gets. The joint also makes- delicious, potato pancakes-chopped liver-tuna salad-chicken salad-matzoh ball soup-smashed French fries-Italian beef sub.
Just so we are straight…don’t want you to think that I’m a Zinger’s shill—I’ve eaten better potato knishes—like the ones I, my father and brother Andy use to get in 1958 from the pushcart stationed right outside of Fortunoff on Livonia Avenue in Brooklyn while waiting for my mother to finish shopping.
Trust me on this…Zinger’s is a homerun.
Like I said before, I tried a load of stuff. I will tell you, that the sandwiches being delivered to the tables were nice-sized… I didn’t see one group leave without a doggy bag… and no one bitched to Gary about the service/prices.
Zinger’s website is www.zingersdelicom. The site is currently under construction, so give it some-time to get up and running.
Zinger’s does breakfast, lunch and dinner…The joint is open 7 days a week 7am-10pm.
Tried Zinger’s yesterday for lunch.
The pastrami on rye was the best Ive had in 31 years living in Florida. The French fries were also delicious.
My golfing buddy loved his corned beef on rye and the potato knish he ordered.
The sandwiches were nice and thick and the rye just right.
Zinger’s tuna and chicken salads are delicious. same for their chopped liver.
I also love their pastrami, corned beef and brisket.
This is my go to deli.
Once you eat Zinger’s pastrami you won’t go anywhere else. Just that simple!!!!!!!!!!
Have to agree with you.
Their pastrami is the best around.
jeff, as good as anything in nyc
really that simple
no bs
Their soups and knishes are delicious.
Believe me when I tell you that Zinger’s is the best NY Style Deli in Florida.
Love Zinger’s pastrami, brisket and corned beef. Find its potato knishes a drop too salty for my taste. All in all Zinger’s is my favorite Florida deli with Ben’s a distant second.
Jeff
For those who don’t know Gary Zinger who owns Boca’s Zinger’s use to own the legendary Pastrami King in Kew Gardens NY. And I do mean legendary, Now anyone who thinks that Gary forgot how to make great pastrami and other deli food because he moved to Florida should have his or her head examined. Zinger’s food is exactly the same as what Pastrami King use to serve back in Queens.
If you went REAL DELI, all you got to o is go to Zinger’s.
I assure you that you won’t be disappointed.
By far and away the best deli in s fl.
Have to agree. The food is very good.
Zinger’s tuna salad is awesome. same for its chicken salad.
They have amazing pastrami.
Ate there tonight. Packed at 7pm. This deli is by far and away the best NY Kosher Style Deli in S Florida.
Born and bred in the Bx. came down to Deerfield 11 years ago. In my book the best delis are Zinger’s, Ben’s and Pomperdale.
To All:
THIS IS THE BEST NEW YORK KOSHER STYLE DELI IN SOUTH FLORIDA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
There isn’t much more to say.
Have to agree with you, definitely the best deli in s. Fla.
To:
Folks Who Have Never Eaten In Zingers
I have lived in Boca Raton for over 25 years. I was born in the Bronx in 1947 and lived there until moving to Florida.
I have eaten in delis all over NY and s Florida and there is no doubt in my mind that Zinger’s food is as good if not better than all of them.
Just try Zinger’s corned beef, pastrami or brisket on rye with an order of french fries or a potato knish and you New Yorkers will swear that you are back home in your favorite NYC kosher/style deli.
Thank you,
RFG
They have amazing knishes.
Jeff,
Hands down, no ifs or buts, Zinger’s is the best deli.
Have to agree, best deli.
Can’t beat their pastrami.
Zinger’s tuna salad is amazing.
To all snowbirds,
Once you eat here you’ll forget all about your favorite back home deli.
I remember Gary from his Pastrami King days. Best pastrami going,
If you haven’t eaten in Zinger’s, get over there. No ifs or buts, best deli in S. Florida.
Best ny style deli in fl. period.
No one here has a clue of what they are talking about. The best Pastrami is made only on Thursdays and you need to get there before 2pm or your out of luck is at Blue Willies BBQ now in Pompano. Zingers doesn’t come close, any of the New York Deli’s don’t come close and before any of you say anything stop stuffing your faces and have the best. Then we will talk!!!
so, if we want the best its only available on thursdays. so, mon, tues, wed, fri, sat and sunday we’ll go to zinger’s. so there, everyone is happy.
The point is once you try Blue Willies Pastrami you won’t want to eat Zingers Pastrami ever again.
You are a NUT.
Zinger’s pastrami is amazing.
Blue’s maybe good, but you can only get it on one day and have to get it by 2pm.
That means, all the other days you have to go pastramiless.
And if Blue’s was so good, he wouldnt only make it one day and he wouldnt be working out of a trailer.
Dream on!
i agree with dee.
I ate blue’s and I still want to eat zinger’s. So what do you have to say?
I say you don’t have a clue of what great pastrami is!!! zingers like every other deli in town just steams their pastrami that is already cooked and in a bag. Blue makes his from scratch and smokes it for hours can’t compare the method or taste. Only other place that doesn’t use pre cooked that I know of is Katz’s in NYC they make their own but they don’t smoke it so taste is a little different.
What u can’t read? Don’t talk till you try it!!! Then you’ll be dreaming about Blue Willies too
Blue willie is in a brick and mortar since August
Just had Zinger’s Thanksgiving turkey and it was fabulous. Took out from there and all of the sides were also delicious.
Best deli. Period.
Jeff,
My wife and I have eaten in Zinger’s probably 20 times.
Without any doubt this is the best deli in Florida.
Everything we have had has been delicious.
We are originally from Brooklyn and know good deli.
We highly recommend Zinger’s to all who love a great pastrami, corned beef, brisket sandwich.
Zinger’s is as good as you said it was.
Thanks
Ate at Zinger’s this past Saturday night for the first time. Fabulous corned beef and pastrami and ff. As good as any deli in NY.
My favorite deli in Fl.
Jeff,
Like you I’m originally from NY. I also attended Brooklyn Law School class of 72. For years I litigated cases in the 5 boros and LI. Whenever I was in Queens Supreme Court I would eat in or takeout from Pastrami King which was right across the street from the courthouse. Some of the best pastrami and corned beef going. Moved to Miami in 93 and Boca in 2012 and didnt know until 2 weeks ago about Zinger’s or that Gary Zinger was the owner of Pastrami King way back when. Since then I’ve eaten there twice and the pastrami is exactly how I remember it from my NY days. Any one who writes to you and tells you that Zinger’s food isn’t terrific is either a competitor or doesn’t know the first thing about NY style deli food. Love the site and once again for the headsup on Zinger’s.
had dinner there tonight. jammed. food was delicious. best deli around.
Zinger’s is terrific.
I am originally from Montreal and Zinger’s pastrami is as good as anything from back there.
Jeff,
Hands down the best NYC Kosher Style Deli in Florida.
My wife and I have eaten there a number of times and we always comment on how good everything was.
This is an absolute must try.
Best deli in Fl.
No bs.
Jeff,
Ate there last week for the first time. My wife and I have to tell you that the food was fabulous. We lived in Queens for over 50 years before moving to Boca Raton this past Summer. No doubt about it but Zinger’s food is as good as the best delis in NYC.
Jeff
Use to practice law in NYC. Ate many a lunch at Pastrami King. Gary Zinger owned PK. Same great food at Zinger’s.
Jeff,
My wife and I enjoyed meeting you and your wife last week at the Festival Flea Market. As I mentioned, we live in Fort Lauderdale and hadn’t heard about Zinger’s until you mentioned it. Just wanted you to know that we ate there last night and it is as good as you said it was. The pastrami and corned beef sandwiches we had were as good as any that we had back in Queens years ago and the fresh cut French fries were outrageously delicious and the portion was big enough to feed 2-3. Once again nice meeting you and we now look forward to reading Jeff Eats on a steady basis.
Jeff
Based on your glowing comments my wife and I and another couple tried Zinger’s this evening. The four of us loved the food.
Love their brisket.
Best deli in s Florida.
Try it just one time and you’ll be hooked.
Jeff
By far and away best ny kosher style deli in s florida. My husband and I try and eat there at least twice a month. Food is as good as the best NYC delis. Anyone who tells you differently really doesn’t know what top deli food is all about. The big problem with many in Florida is that they confuse quantity over quality.
Jeff
love their food.
really all there is to say.
I think Too Jays and 3G’s are better.
Your nuts.
Ate there thus evening for the first time. Pastrami is amazing.
Jeff
Best NY Kosher Style Deli in Florida.
Pastrami is to die for.
French Fries delicious.
A must try.
By far and away the best NY Kosher Style Deli in Florida.
heard about Zinger’s about a week ago and my husband and I got there last night for dinner.
Very simple order, brisket on onion roll, pastrami on rye, ff, 2 Dr. Brown Cream Sodas.
Food was fabulous.
Can’t think of a better deli in Florida.
Best deli.
Love their corned beef;
Jeff
They make the best pastrami in Florida.
Have to agree with you that the pastrami is delicious.
Jeff Eats, YOU DA MAN!!!!!
We met a few months ago and you told me about Zinger’s. Finally followed up and ate lunch there this past Monday. The pastrami on rye and potato knish I had, had me believing I was back in Brooklyn in 1981 eating at Sid & George’s.
Best deli in Florida.
Nobody comes even close to Zingers.
