***** Zinger’s Delicatessen, 7132 Beracasa Way, Boca Raton, Florida 33433, (561) 826-7323.

If, delicious- New York Kosher Style Deli is your game—you absolutely, positively have to give Zinger’s Delicatessen in Boca Raton a try.

For you fressers out there…Zinger’s in a “former” life, was Pastrami Queen (see 9/12/08 writeup)…to make a long story short, family “matters” resulted in Pastrami Queen closing in late 2010. This past Tuesday, Zinger’s opened for business—for our purposes, SAME OWNER!–NEW “NYC” DECOR!–SAME TERRIFIC FOOD!

Last night I ate dinner at Zinger’s.

Zinger’s is located in the exact-spot where Pastrami Queen was. Gary Zinger who owned Pastrami Queen is Zinger’s owner. The restaurant’s layout hasn’t changed, but the decor has…let’s just say, that stainless steel walls/ceiling and art-deco signage rival the best-deli decor here and in NYC. The joint has 3-flat screen tvs and a takeout counter that will make you want to quit Weight Watchers.

Let’s talk food…

To be perfectly honest with you, I seriously doubt that there is a better New York Kosher Style Deli down here in South Florida. I’ll even go so-far as to say, Zinger’s Delicatessen can easily hold its own with legendary players like NYC’s- Carneige, Stage, 2nd Avenue and Katz’s delis…if you aren’t a native Nooo Yoorker, please feel free to insert your hometown favorite delis’ names.

Just so you know, I was a Pastrami Queen “regular”…so, it was absolutely impossible to eat-at Zinger’s, shall we say incognito. The meal was “on the arm” with Gary Zinger literally having me “try” everything in the joint. Take it for what it’s worth, the pastrami, corned beef, brisket, turkey off the bone are as good as it gets. The joint also makes- delicious, potato pancakes-chopped liver-tuna salad-chicken salad-matzoh ball soup-smashed French fries-Italian beef sub.

Just so we are straight…don’t want you to think that I’m a Zinger’s shill—I’ve eaten better potato knishes—like the ones I, my father and brother Andy use to get in 1958 from the pushcart stationed right outside of Fortunoff on Livonia Avenue in Brooklyn while waiting for my mother to finish shopping.

Trust me on this…Zinger’s is a homerun.

Like I said before, I tried a load of stuff. I will tell you, that the sandwiches being delivered to the tables were nice-sized… I didn’t see one group leave without a doggy bag… and no one bitched to Gary about the service/prices.

Zinger’s website is www.zingersdelicom. The site is currently under construction, so give it some-time to get up and running.

Zinger’s does breakfast, lunch and dinner…The joint is open 7 days a week 7am-10pm.

I thought that Ben’s had the best deli in Boca. Wrong!!!!
    Zinger’s is my new joint.
    Outrageously delicious pastrami and brisket.
    FF off the chart..

try this one, it is really top notch.

I have in my 72 yrs eaten hundreds of Pastrami sandwhiches at the Carnegie in NY, Max & Bennies in Chicago, Rascal hse & later in Boca[ closed now. in N Miami etc. & many here in . I would rate this one definitely in the top which very few are. My only criticism is a bit too much garlic for my taste buds. BUT I was a bit disappointed in the size for $9.99. A bit skimmpier than most here in S Florida. Another 2 ounces may do the trick. Had great soup & KISHKE also .

  3. frank w says...

Agree with the best of the positive comments. Perhaps the best pastrami sandwich I ever had anywhere. The bread was also excellent. Much better than the Pastrami King rye unless someone can tell me thyat I am wrong and it’s the same rye as before.

By far and away the best NYC style deli in S. Fl.
I seriously doubt that anyone else has better pastrami, brisket, corned beef, roast turkey.

  8. OKOK says...

    Jeff:
How anyone can even debate that Zinger’s isn’t a great deli is beyond me.
I had a brisket with ff the other day and it was outrageously delicious.

    HI JEFF,

I WAS ALSO RAISED IN BROOKLYN. I HAD A FRIEND & RELATIVE WHO HAD KOSHER DELIS, AS A KID I HUNG OUT IN BOTH STORES. IF I KNOW NOTHING ELSE I KNOW GOOD DELI.
I ALSO KNEW & HAD LUNCH WITH MILT PARKER THE OWNER OF THE CARNIGIE DELI IN N.Y. A COUPLE OF MONTHS BEFORE HE DIED. YOU COMPARED HIS PASTRAMI TO ZINGERS. YOU ARE 100% RIGHT IT IS JUST AS GOOD, BUT A LITTLE DIFFERENT. THE CARNIGIE DELI PASTRAMI HAS A SMOKE FLAVOR.
MY WIFE LIKES ZINGERS PASTRAMI BETTER, GARY ZINGER KNOWS HIS DELI BUSINESS.

MILT PARKER (RIP) & I WERE TALKING ABOUT DELI’S DOWN HERE. HE LIVED NEAR ME HERE FOR THE WINTER MONTHS.

WHEN RETIRING 11 YEARS AGO WE MOVED HERE. FOR 20 YEARS BEFORE WE WERE SNOW FLAKES. WE RETIRED YOUNG.

I HAVE THE GREATEST RESPECT FOR YOU AS 99% OF THE TIME YOU ARE RIGHT ON THE MONEY.NO BODY EVEN ME IS 100%, HA HA

YOU ARE 100% ON THE MONEY WITH PETES BELLA SIERA, WITH NINOS, WITH THE PASTRAMI QUEEN WHICH IS NOW ZINGERS (I USED TO EAT FROM TIME TO TIME IN THE PASTRAMI KING IN QUEENS) MANY MANY YEARS AGO. FLAKEOWITZ, THREE G’S ETC.

I BEG TO DIFFER WITH YOU ON ONE & THAT IS THE NEW LOX AROUND THE CLOCK NOW EDLEBAUMS,
THE CHICKEN SOUP WAS THE BEST. THE LATKAS WERE SUPER. THE DELI MEATS WERE A HOROR. HE USES NATIONAL & OTHER HORRIBLE PACKAGED MEATS THAT ARE FULL OF WATER & POOR QUALITY. I WENT IN THERE SOON AFTER IT OPENED. THE OWNER AGREED WITH ME & SAID HE WAS GOING TO GET A BETTER PASTRAMI & HE WAS WAITING FOR A MACHINE TO CHURN HIS OWN CORNED BEEFS. IT WAS SO BAD WE NEVER WENT BACK. IT DOES NOT COME NEAR ZINGERS, OR EVEN BENS WHICH FOR MY MOENY IS SECOND TO ZINGERS. I CAN’T UNDERSTAND BEN’S CHICKEN SOUP. IT IS PURE DISH WATER. WHEN RON COMES DOWN I WILL TALK TO HIM ABOUT IT. I SAY IT EVERY YEAR, BUT I BACK OUT AS HE IS SUCH A GOOD GUY I DO NOT WANT TO HURT HIM. I NEVER HAVE CHICKEN SOUP THERE, I GO TO ZINGERS NOW MANY TIMES TO BEN’S ONCE. I TRAVEL FROM WEST BOYNTON TO ZINGERS & IT IS WORTH IT. I KNOW RON THE OWNER OF BENS. AFTER MY FRIEND WENT OUT OF BUSINESS HE WORKED FOR RON IN LONG ISLAND.

EDLEMAN KNEW I WAS 100% RIGHT.
HE IS ALSO A BAGLE SHOP OPERATOR & NOT A REAL DELI MAN.

I NEVER WENT BACK, WHY SHOULD I WHEN THERE ARE MUCH BETTER PLACES.

I WILL NEVER FORGET A SALESMAN COMING INTO MY FRIEND WITH A PACKAGED CORNED BEEF FULL OF WATER. IT WAS A LOT OF YEARS AGO. MY FRIEND SAID IF I SERVE THIS TO MY CUSTOMERS I WILL BE OUT OF BUSINESS. THAT IS THE SAME CRAP MOST OF THE PLACES & ESPECIALLY BAGEL PLACES SERVE DOWN HERE

DID YOU EVER SEE THE DELI & ESPECIALLY THE BRISKET SERVED IN STRATHMORE BAGEL ?? FEH

I COULD NOT GET A GOOD BAGEL HERE FOR 30 YEARS WHEN I MOVED HERE I IMPORTED THEM FROM N.Y. I STILL GO BACK 2X A YEAR. NOW I DO NOT HAVE TO IMPORT THEM AS BROOKLYN WATER BAGEL FOR MY MONEY & OTHERS IS THE BEST BAGEL DOWN HERE. IT IS THE RIGHT WEIGHT & THEY USE THE RIGHT FLOUR ETC. I DO NOT BELIEVE THE WATER STORY. THE BAGEL IS SUPER & AS GOOD AS THE BEST N.Y. BAGEL.GARY ZINGER AGREES WITH ME & MANY OTHERS DO.

YOU ARE A SUPER CRITIC & 99% ON THE MONEY… ZAGET IS FULL OF CRAP AS WE HAVE GOTTEN STUCK IN ZAGET RATED PLACES.NOW WE SEE A ZAGET SIGN IF WE DO NOT KNOW WE DO NOT GO IN. THERE IS ANOTHER CRITIC HERE WHO’S NAME I WILL NOT MENTION WHO DOES NOT KNOW WHAT HE IS EATING OR TALKING ABOUT.

YOU ARE THE BEST. WHAT ELSE WOULD I EXPECT A JEWISH BOY BORN & BREED IN BROOKLYN LIKE MYSELF. YOU WOULD NOT WANT TO SEE BROOKLYN NOW. FORGET ABOUT IT.
WE LEFT BROOKLYN 40 YEARS AGO WENT TO S.I. THEN TO NEW JERSEY & NOW WE ARE HERE.

AGAIN THANKS FOR YOUR GREAT COLUMS WHICH I LOVE BECAUSE YOU ARE 99% CORRECT. I DO NOT READ ANY OTHER CRITIC EXCEPT YOU.

HAVE A HAPPY & HEALTHY THANKSGIVING & KEEP UP THE SUPER WORK

    VERY TRULY YOURS
    STEVE

  12. steve rose says...

Just came from eating super at zingers. two words describes the entire experience. SUPER & OUTRAGEOUS…. there is no other deli in south florida that comes close .Jeff Eats is 100 correct when he compares it to the world famous Carnigie Deli in N.Y.C. Gary Zinger is an old timer who knows his business inside out, & serves only the finest quality food. He cares for & watches his business like no other today. It is & is run like an old time brooklyn MaMA & PaPA Jewish deli.

Gary takes everything personally like you were eating in his house. he makes sure you are satisfied & there is nothing there no to be 100% satisfied with.

my mother (rip) thought that she made the best potato pancake. she did & i did until i had one at zingers it was just as good as what we made.

whatever jeff eats says you can go by as he is a super critic. he really knows his stuff.
i do not believe in any other critic except jeff eats. His description of Zingers was 100% correct.
Big deal Zagat along with all the other critics down here are full of crap for my money. we have gotten stuck in a couple of zagat rated places & the other critics for my money do not come near jeff eats. jeff eats knows what he is eating & what he is talking about. i do not even bother to read any other critic except jeff eats. never ever did we go to a place that he did not describe right on the money.

We travel from West Boynton 2X a week to eat in
Zingers. It is well worth the time, effort & money.
We pass many Delis along the way & the second best does not come close to Gary Zinger.

  13. gail says...

JUST CAME FROM EATING AT ZINGERS. I THOUGHT MY GRANDMOTHER MADE SUPER MATZO BALLS & SHE DID. ZINGERS ARE BETTER & THE VERY BEST I HAVE EVER TASTED. . LIGHT, VERY TASTY & THE BEST I HAVE EVER HAD & I HAVE HAD MANY MATZO BALL SOUPS IN MY DAYS.
THEN I HAD SOMETHING I NEVER EVER ORDERED IN A DELI BEFORE, A HAMBURGER. IT WAS A SUPER TASTY BURGER. CAN’T WAIT TO HAVE IT AGAIN.
WE KNOW ALREADY THAT THE DELI MEATS AT ZINGERS ARE THE VERY BEST, NOW I CAN ADD THAT THE MATZO BALL SOUP & BURGERS ARE ALSO THE VERY BEST.
GARY ZINGER IS AN OLD TIME DELI OPERATOR WHO REALLY KNOWS HIS BUSINESS INSIDE OUT. THE FOOD & SERVICE PROVES IT.
I HAVE NEVER EATEN ANYTHING THERE THAT WAS NOT SUPER. PEOPLE SAY THAT IT IS THE BEST DELI IN BOCA. I SAY IT IS BY FAR THE BEST IN SOUTH FLORIDA. IT IS ALSO AS GOOD OR BETTER THAN ANY OF THE NEW YORK DELIS INCLUDING THE CARNEGIE. WITH THE GREAT FOOD & SUPER VALUE AT ZINGERS IT DOES NOT PAY FOR ME TO EVEN START MY GRILL, OR MAKE MATZO BALL SOUP.

  14. ron d says...

best deli i’ve been to in florida.

  15. SELTZ says...

try their tuna wrap, outrageously good.

  16. David Schulman says...

Jeff is right on as are the old timers .Zinger’s is heaven for pastrami lovers. After my bi-weekly blood platelet donation,my treat is a Zinger pastrami. After downing that sandwich,my blood platelet count goes off the scale and I am actually ready for another donation. All of you deli lovers: keep coming back to Zinger’s.let’s make sure this place keeps going. We owe it to mankind and civilization as we know it to keep this place open .

  17. NAT says...

DOES ANYONE KNOW WHERE YOU CAN GET
THOSE OLD FASHION ROUND KNISH . WAS 1 RESTAURANT IN WILLIAMSBURG ON SOUTH 1 STREET ?

  18. F. Cooper says...

I know good deli and Zinger’s pastrami is some of the best that I have ever eaten.

  19. Lisa G. says...

    Zinger’s is outrageously good.
This is the best deli I’ve eaten in since moving from Queens, NY some 15 years ago to Boca.

  20. MAX says...

Zinger’s food is right up there with the best in Florida. The only other deli on the same level in the area is the Pomperdale Deli. These two are the best that I’ve been to. They are as good as the famous NYC ones like Stage, Katz, Second Avenue and Carneige. I’d match the food of Zinger’s and Pomperdale in a blind taste test against the others.

  21. LAURA says...

Ate there this evening, best pastrami i’ve had in fl. great ff and potato pancakes.

  22. hank c says...

i seriously doubt that there is a better ny kosher style deli like zinger’s anywhere in s fla.

    • jane kimmel says...

hank c, so right, best deli around.

  23. arnie cohen says...

there are only 2 delis in s fl that even come close to being like real nyc deli. they are zinger’s and pomperdale. ben’s in boca is hit and miss while the 2 i just mentioned are always consistently good.

  24. Johnny C. says...

Zinger’s Deli is top of the line.
I was born and raised in the Bronx and have eaten in more kosher/kosher style delis than you can shake a stick at.
    Zinger’s food is outrageously good.
It isn’t a schlock bagel store like almost all of the places down here are.
The only deli that is on the same level is Pomperdale’s.
Someone also mentioned Ben’s which in my opinion is hit and miss.
If you want really delicous NYC Kosher style deli get over to Zinger’s.
    You will not be disappointed.

  25. ED STEIN says...

Definitely best NYC KOSHER STYLE DELI in South Florida.
    No ifs and buts.

  26. Danny says...

For all those looking for great deli, you must try zinger’s in boca. This restaurant makes some of the best kosher style food that I have ever eaten. Last night I had a pastrami on rye, French fries and a bowl of matzoh ball soup. Every item was delicious. Other times have had corned beef, brisket, chopped liver, turkey and every item was just right. Zinger’s is the best I,ve had and I’ve been in Florida for over 20 years. I was originally from Brooklyn and think that I know gret deli when I eat it.

  27. KLJ says...

    Jeff:
Zinger’s meats are delicious. Same for the soups.
One of the best items they have is their chicken salad.
By far and away the best deli in Boca.

  28. Larry Kaufman says...

ZINGER’S is the best deli that I have been to in Florida.
I have lived in Pompano Beach for over 20 years. Before that I loved 45 years in the Bronx.
I have eaten in Katz, Carneige, 2nd Avenue, Stage not to mention countless neighborhood delis and Zinger’s is as good if not better than all of them.
I know that there will be some who don’t believe me on how good Zinger’s is.
My suggestion is to try this deli out and decide for yourself.

  29. poppo says...

    try thier cabbage soup. delicious.

  30. KIMMY says...

Went to a Super Bowl house party. Food came from Zinger’s. Some of the best pastrami, corned beef, roast beef I’ve had in avery very long time.

  31. Joe Kaufman says...

    Best deli in Fla

    • Chuck says...

      Got to agree with you.
Zinger’s food is heads and shoulders above the rest.
This is a real deli not some crappy bagel place.

  32. Dr. Bender says...

Was there the other night. Very busy. A lot of tables were using a Buy One Get One coupon .
I had a pastrami on rye with ff.
My wife had a turkey on rye with a kasha knish.
Two delicious sandwiches, terrif fries and knish.
If you haven’t been there and like NY Style Deli, you got to go to Zinger’s.
The food is as good as the delis in NYC.

  33. GB says...

    Jeff:
Zinger’s is an outstandingly good deli.

  34. Norman H. says...

This is hands down the best NY Kosher style deli in South Florida.
If you don’t believe I challenge you to just try it once and you’ll see!
They make a kreplach soup that is amazing.
    Their pastrami is so good!

  35. willow says...

    i like 3gs better

  36. Ms says...

    Chopped liver is best going.

  37. Judy F says...

Jeff, it’s because of you that my husband and I are in Zinger’s once a week. The food and I do mean everything is delicious.

    • great idea says...

jeff, they have been running a buy one get one coupon, great way of getting people to know about the store, been there twice and the food is excellent,

  38. Leon J says...

Not impressed. Food is okay but not great. Tables are too close to each other and when busy the restaurant isn’t enjoyable to eat in. While talking deli, Ben’s isn’t much better food wise.

    • deliman22 says...

try taking a HAPPY MEAL HOME, AND SIT AT YOUR OWN TABLE.

    • Hank R. says...

      Leon J,
If you think that the food is “okay but not great” you obviously don’t know a dam thing about deli food. Zinger’s food is sensational. As for the close seating, you also obviously know nothing about how NYC delis of the past 50 years have been constructed. Zinger’s got the goods and the look of the real deal.

  39. CS says...

By far and away the best deli in S Florida.

    • Ronald2012 says...

      agree 1000% percent.
had a 2 for 1 coupon which i used yesterday.
      delicious pastrami and chopped liver.

  40. samson says...

Zinger’s is a great deli. It’s as good as any deli that I ever ate in NYC.
Try this restaurant and you’ll see that so called delis like 3 G’s, Flakowitz, Gramercy are not even in the same league.

  41. Paul says...

My intention Sunday was to try the Long Island Deli, After reading the reviews ( mostly negative), we (my wife and son) decided to try Zingers. There is NOT ONE good thing I could say about this deli. The service was terrible after the waitress said I will be right back, we waited so long I finally asked another waitress to take our order. The french fries had to be sent back dripping in oil, home fries were so burnt I could not get a fork in them (sent back) the omelets were terrible, the rye toast was burnt. I must have been there on a bad day because this place really SUCKS!!!

  42. Ron Wechsler says...

My wife and I ate at Zinger’s last night. We had heard about Zinger’s before but this was our first try. Unquestionably one of the best pastrami sandwiches that I’ve eaten. My wife loved her corned beef on rye and we both thought that the French fries which we learned from our waitress were fresh cut every day were just perfect. We were born and raised in the Brooklyn and Zinger’s fondly reminded us of the great food that we use to eat years ago at Grabstein’s Deli. We will definitely be back and recommend that others try Zinger’s. Oh, one other thing, our sandwiches were so stuffed, that we actually left with 1/2 pastrami and 1/2 corned beef in a doggy bag.

  43. stan says...

Went to zingers for the first time yesterday.
walked in and was very cold.
ordered motzah brie with onions burnt.
It was horrible and to top that off they charged me extra to burn the oinions.
too many other good deli places to go.

  44. mr. kramer says...

    Best deli going.
Don’t believe the negative comments, they have to be nuts or competitors.

  45. GD says...

Zinger’s was jammed. Ate there with my husband and another couple. The pastrami and brisket sandwiches were delicious as was the potato pancake and French fries that we had. The matza ball soup was also delicious. The sandwiches were piled high and the service was just fine. For ten bucks a sandwich its really was a bargain as we left with a nice size doggy bag. Definitely too much food for one outing.

  46. David says...

Tried Zingers last night. Was honored to see Jeff Eats there himself, in person – a privilege! We enjoyed modified mish mosh soup, chicken in a pot, salads, brisket sandwich and an almond-based sweet dessert item. This was all traditional home-cooking of the honest and dependable variety – so, not haute cuisine but good stuff at a fair price. Recommended

  47. Loni D. says...

    Really enjoyed Zinger’s last night.
Know of the family from Queens when they had Pastrami Queen which is a legendary deli.
First time at Zinger’s and it is as good as the Queens’ store.
    Sensational pastrami and corned beef.
So glad to see that Florida is finally getting some of the top guys from NY to open here.

  48. Nate says...

I ate there once with 6 guys for lunch and it was great. Loved the pastrami, soup, and can’t wait to go back.
Reminded me of the good old days in Brooklyn going to Pastrami King and in Queens opposite the court house.

  49. Linda S says...

I make great chicken soup and Zinger’s makes better soup than I do.

  50. Brenda D says...

As far as I’m concerned Zinger’s is the only real NY Style Deli in Florida,,,
