Zinger’s Delicatessen (Boca Raton)
***** Zinger’s Delicatessen, 7132 Beracasa Way, Boca Raton, Florida 33433, (561) 826-7323.
If, delicious- New York Kosher Style Deli is your game—you absolutely, positively have to give Zinger’s Delicatessen in Boca Raton a try.
For you fressers out there…Zinger’s in a “former” life, was Pastrami Queen (see 9/12/08 writeup)…to make a long story short, family “matters” resulted in Pastrami Queen closing in late 2010. This past Tuesday, Zinger’s opened for business—for our purposes, SAME OWNER!–NEW “NYC” DECOR!–SAME TERRIFIC FOOD!
Last night I ate dinner at Zinger’s.
Zinger’s is located in the exact-spot where Pastrami Queen was. Gary Zinger who owned Pastrami Queen is Zinger’s owner. The restaurant’s layout hasn’t changed, but the decor has…let’s just say, that stainless steel walls/ceiling and art-deco signage rival the best-deli decor here and in NYC. The joint has 3-flat screen tvs and a takeout counter that will make you want to quit Weight Watchers.
Let’s talk food…
To be perfectly honest with you, I seriously doubt that there is a better New York Kosher Style Deli down here in South Florida. I’ll even go so-far as to say, Zinger’s Delicatessen can easily hold its own with legendary players like NYC’s- Carneige, Stage, 2nd Avenue and Katz’s delis…if you aren’t a native Nooo Yoorker, please feel free to insert your hometown favorite delis’ names.
Just so you know, I was a Pastrami Queen “regular”…so, it was absolutely impossible to eat-at Zinger’s, shall we say incognito. The meal was “on the arm” with Gary Zinger literally having me “try” everything in the joint. Take it for what it’s worth, the pastrami, corned beef, brisket, turkey off the bone are as good as it gets. The joint also makes- delicious, potato pancakes-chopped liver-tuna salad-chicken salad-matzoh ball soup-smashed French fries-Italian beef sub.
Just so we are straight…don’t want you to think that I’m a Zinger’s shill—I’ve eaten better potato knishes—like the ones I, my father and brother Andy use to get in 1958 from the pushcart stationed right outside of Fortunoff on Livonia Avenue in Brooklyn while waiting for my mother to finish shopping.
Trust me on this…Zinger’s is a homerun.
Like I said before, I tried a load of stuff. I will tell you, that the sandwiches being delivered to the tables were nice-sized… I didn’t see one group leave without a doggy bag… and no one bitched to Gary about the service/prices.
Zinger’s website is www.zingersdelicom. The site is currently under construction, so give it some-time to get up and running.
Zinger’s does breakfast, lunch and dinner…The joint is open 7 days a week 7am-10pm.
My husband and I love a good deli. Originally from Brooklyn and now down here 20 years. For sure we have a load of good bagel places but the real deli was hard to find. There are really only three that we have found. Zinger’s, Ben’s and Pomperdale. They are all good but Zinger’s is the best. We have eaten there tons of times and the food is consistently good. No doubt in our minds the best pastrami going.
Best deli s Florida.
I seriously doubt that you will find a better NY Kosher Style Deli in Florida.
Zinger’s food is so good.
Jeff
Their deli meats are terrific.
They make fabulous tuna and chicken salads. Chopped liver delicious.
Knishes are also excellent.
Just ate there for first time.
Had chicken in the pot.
Wife had brisket on rye.
Excellent.
I know Gary Zinger from his days as the owner of Pastrami King in Queens. His food was great back then and his food at Zingers is just as good.
If you want real NY deli food you must try Zingers.
Pastrami is the best.
I love their tuna salad.
Best around.
Jeff,
I have been looking for a great NY Style Deli since I moved to Delray Beach in 2004 from Bayside NY. Until yesterday, I’d found some good bagel restaurants but not a really good deli. For the record, I’ve eaten in Ben’s Kosher Deli, Pomperdale, Pastrami Club, good but not even close to being great.
Last night I ate in Zinger’s. Its pastrami, chopped liver, corned beef, matzo ball soup are as good as the best I had back in NY.
Picked up food yesterday afternoon and there was a huge line for takeout.
Zinger’s has developed a huge following with those who know delicious NY deli food .
Nobody has pastrami as good.
Jeff,
This has to be one of your best finds.
This is real a NYC deli.
I’ve lived in Florida for 27 years and Zinger’s is the first deli that is as good as the delis I grew up on in Queens.
A group of us had lunch there today. First timers.
Pastrami, brisket, and corned beef sandwiches. FF and potato knishes.
As good as the best delis in NYC and that’s no lie.
All of us have been in Florida for around 3 years and we use to eat at Ben’s. No more.
Fabulous mish mosh soup.
My husband and I tried Zinger’s for the first time this past Wednesday. We ordered, corned beef on rye, pastrami on rye, potato knish and order of French fries. Without doubt the best deli in Florida. The food was outrageously delicious.
Love their roast chicken.
Had pastrami on rye. Had potato knish. Had 2 cans of Doctor Brown’s Ginger Ale. Had a flashback to Sid & George’s Deli in Canarsie 1971. Love Zinger’s.
JEFF –
Are you ready for more CHINKS Christmas bantering this year?
The car is packed – Shipping from New Jersey tomorrow – Can’t wait for dinner at Zingers on New Years Day –
Happy stuff to you and your family –
CHARLES
Terrific tuna salad and matzah ball soup.
Best NY kosher style deli in Florida.
Jeff,
Stumbled onto site looking for NY delis in south Florida. Visiting from New Orleans.
Ate lunch at Zinger’s and their pastrami and corned beef are to die for. Also loved their french fries.
Next up for us is your Granger’s pick in Delray Beach. Sounds like a really good no frills joint.
BF and I just ate there.
Pastrami, brisket, ff, potato knish, Dr. Brown Cream Soda all were just like our Pastrami King days in Queens. Loved it.
Jeff Eats, Zinger’s is an absolute no brainer. There is nothing even close to it when it comes to NY Style Deli. I have been eating there since it started out as Pastrami Queen and the subsequent name change. The food is the best around. I can’t believe that many rate Ben’s or some of the bagel delis in the area at the same level. I guess that’s what makes for horse races, but if you can ride Secretariat you ride Secretariat. Well that’s what I do.
The other day I had brisket sandwiched between 2 potato pancakes. Heavenly!
Zinger’s food is great.
The food here is spectacular. Best NY Kosher Style Deli in a Florida. If you haven’t eaten there you have no idea as to what you are missing.
Best pastrami, period.
Visiting from Manhattan.
Read about Zinger’s here.
Had pastrami better than the terrific pastrami I usually get at the 2nd Avenue Deli. Zinger’s tuna and chopped liver were also delicious.
Next outing is Nino’s which I also read about in Jeffeats.com.
Very informative site.
I like Zinger’s I love Ben’s.
Best deli in South Florida.
Food is fantastic.
A group of us tried Zinger’s based on your rave reviews.
The 6 of us really loved the food and service.
Great call.
We will all definitely be back.
Jeff,
Visiting relatives in Boca. We are from Sarasota. Read about Zinger’s here. Had dinner and their pastrami and corned beef are the best that I’ve had since moving to Florida from Jersey City 14 years ago.
Had a pastrami on rye with a potato knish and Dr. Brown Cream Soda and could have sworn I was at Sid & George’s Deli in Canarsie in 1967. Loved the food.
Zinger’s food is as good as the food served by the best NY Delis. I’d match its pastrami and corned beef against the best out there.
They have some of the best french fries I’ve ever eaten.
Have to agree with you, some of the ff I’ve ever had.
Hands down the best NY Kosher Style Deli in south Florida. Just that simple.
Had a pastrami on rye with ff last night that was amazing.
Best deli in Boca and for that matter s. Florida.
My husband and I moved to Boca 6 weeks ago. Came across Jeff Eats about 3 weeks ago and last night’s dinner at Zinger’s was our first test of your picks.
Based on the terrific food we are now going to be regular readers.
Zingers was terrific just as you wrote it would be.
Love Zinger’s chopped liver.
They make delicious tuna salad, chicken salad, and chopped liver. This is my go to joint for this food.
Right on tuna and chicken salads. Not my favorite for chopped liver. I think the liver is too lumpy.
My sister in law had Zinger’s turkey, brisket and other items for Roshana this evening and the food was delicious. I haven’t been to the deli itself and its now on my must try list.
They have the best pastrami and their ff are amazing. As good as the best NYC delis.
Amazing pastrami. Same for French fries. Love this joint.
They make amazing brisket.
New to Jeff Eats.
Tried Zingers.
Pastrami and FF were best I’ve had in years.
Their food is simply amazing.
Best NY Kosher Style Deli that I’ve eaten in Florida and ive lived here in Boca Raton for 32 years.
Jeff,
Wife had a Reuben and I had a corned beef, both sandwiches could have been better. The French fries were terrific. This was our first time there, we’ll give it another shot.
Just tried.
Pastrami on rye and potato knish were as good as the stuff I loved as a kid growing up in Brooklyn in the 60s.
Today, first time eating there today and the pastrami club and brisket on rye my wife and I split plus a potato knish and french fries were delicious.
Best corned beef and pastrami in s Florida.
