Hurricane Grill & Wings (Boca Raton, Coral Springs, Miami, Plantation, Coconut Creek, Palm Beach Gardens, Royal Palm Beach, Juno Beach, Port Saint Lucie, Sunrise, Vero Beach, Fort Pierce, Orlando) )
***** Hurricane Grill & Wings, 22191 Powerline Road, Boca Raton, Florida 33433 (561) 395-3306.
Before I get started, do me a favor and–check my June 6, 2008– Hurricane Grill & Wings (Deerfield Beach) writeup. Go ahead, I’ll wait!
Okay…the Deerfield Beach location closed awhile ago—and this past Monday (today is Wednesday), a brand new Hurricane Grill & Wings opened on Powerline Road in the spot which formerly housed The Draft House.
Now that we are-all current…this evening I “did” dinner at the new Hurricane Grill & Wings. Let me make this real simple…this new location is absolutely terrific. The joint, which can probably handle 250 people- has indoor and outdoor patio seating, 2-full bars (one in and one out), flat screen tvs galore, a great faux-Key West look, delicious food, attentive waitstaff, super reasonable prices.
This joint is a HOMERUN.
This evening I “sampled”… hurricane chicken salad ($9.99–mixed greens, grilled chicken, diced tomatoes, red onions, cheddar cheese, chopped bacon, other stuff)-it was big enough for 2 to share—1/2 lb bacon cheeseburger & french fries ($8.99)—non-breaded chicken wings (15 wings + sweet potato fries + cole slaw- $12.99)—breaded boneless wings (10 wings + kettle chips + onion rings-$8.99)…like I said before, the food was delicious. Just so we are straight, I didn’t eat “all” of this stuff by my lonesome-and- honey mustard, garlic & parmesan, teriyaki, raspberry were the toppings of choice.
Just for the record, if I counted (from the menu) correctly there are 32 different chicken wing flavor sauces. Hurricane Grill also “allows” you to create your own flavor, if playing Tom Terrific is your game.
Hurricane Grill & Wings is-not and I repeat is-not… just a wings joint. Its menu also has plenty of appetizers, salads, burgers, sandwiches, entrees.
If you have been paying attention, you know that I have been talking about the Hurricane Grill which just opened on Powerline Road in Boca Raton. For the record, Hurricane currently has 31 locations…if you check www.hurricanewings.com you might find a “location” closer to your home or office and menu details.
Hurricane Grill is open Sunday-Thursday 11am-11pm and Friday-Saturday 11am-2am.
jeff,
i tried the new hurricane last night. you are right this particular spot could be a homerun. the wings were great and the place looks great.
it will get a ton of business from boca pointe cc and really puts the boca ale house on glades to shame.
THIS IS ONE OF BEST CHICKEN WINGS RESTAURANTS IN FLORIDA. THEY ALSO HAVE AN AMAZING STORE RIGHT OUTSIDE OF PHOENIX.
HAVEN’T BEEN TO THE NEW STORE BUT WILL GIVE IT A TRY THIS WEEKEND.
YOU CAN’T BEAT THE WINGS,SALADS,BURGERS.
The Deerfield store was a terrible location. It was too close to Shorty’s on Powerline/Hillsboro.
It was a small store and was a franchise location.
The store that you wrote about is a Company owned store. It looks like a ton of money was put into this location but the Company should have a winner with it.
I am a big fan of Hurricane. They really make terrific wings and the parmesan garlic fries are sensational.
I ate there last night and I thought it was just OK. My daughter really liked her chicken wings but when I tasted her fries I didn’t think they had any flavor. My wife had a burger and she thought it was OK but not nearly as good as the burgers at Lindburgers. I had their grilled mahi mahi and it was nothing special and I expected the kettle chips I ordered to be warm but I guess they don’t serve them that way. They should do well with the drinking crowd but we don’t drink
I was a regular customer at the old Deerfield location and a friend of the owners they are great people who moved back home with there entire family to Ohio were they have several businesses and restaurants and are about to open some Hurricane Wings there.
i used a $5 off coupon last night.
i really enjoyed the new decor as as you say very easy going key west.
help was very nice.
gm came over to table and asked if everything was a-ok.
i had the parmesan fries and a burger. my girlfriend had the boneless wings in a honey mustard sauce. she liked them and i also did.
this restaurant will do very well in the center that it is in.
it is much better than the old draft house.
we will be back.
Finally a decent restaurant for the 40-60+ crowd. Now you Lynn and FAU kids stick to you Ale Houses and Duffy’s and let us old folks enjoy ourselves. Thanks.
use to eat in deerfield hurricane. nice folks owned it. this new location must be 10x the size. really super looking. going to be a big winner and take business from duffys and boca ale hse.
Nice find here.
Tried it last night and found it to be heads and shoulders above most wing places.
Really liked the outdoor patio and bar area.
Should do very well in its Boca Neighborhood.
Excellent wings. Good service. Very reasonable prices. Lots of help. Good addition to the strip center.
good neighborhood wing joint.
great call here. real good bar and wings.
jeff, good find here. really liked the outdoor bar. wings were delicious.
My wife and I had dinner at Hurricane this evening. When we got there around 7:30pm the restaurant was very busy both inside and outside. We were in the mood for a casual bite and the 20 wings and chicken salad was the perfect meal. We shared and there was more than enough for both of us and we also took a doggy bag home. This was our first time at Hurricane and the parmesan & garlic and raspberry wings were excellent. Same for the salad.
The Draft House which use to be in this spot was no match for Hurricane.
real good wings.
great sweet potato fries.
just a suggestion but you should try canoli kitchen’s wings they are great. actually they are better than hurricanes. canoli kitchen is located in same center as hurricane.
Excellent wings. Good service. Very reasonable prices. Lots of help. Good addition to the strip center.
Gave Hurricane a shot the other night. Ate inside and really enjoyed the wings (raspberry sauce, garlic parm, honey mustard), the cold beer and parm french fries. Reasonable prices, good service, nice Key West motif.
jeff, picked up food. got home and the whole order was wrong. wings were good but when i order raspberry and parmaesan wings i don’t want to eat some super hot bbq sauce wings. hurricane better get its act together real fast.
forget the wings for a minute. burgers are delicious. same goes for parmesan fries.
Jeff Eats, dinner the other night at Hurricane in Boca. Good wings, cold beer, nice Key West deocr. Vast improvement over The Draft House that use to be there.
I live near the near Buffalo Wings on Lyons Road. I have eaten there and the wings are good. I work near Hurricane in Boca and tried their wings yesterday. Hurricane was much better.
I ate there with my husband .. If your into fat thats the place to go. All the bartenders were Fat.. The place was dead waited 5 mins to get a drink that the bartender did not know how to make.. Was never told about any rewards cards. Had to pay .75 extra for dressing .. did not get blue cheese on my blue chesse salad……The manager was nowhere to be found..Will not be going back ..
i really cant believe that writer AJ didnt like this new boca spot. i have eaten there 4 times and the wings, salads and bugers were all excellent. same goes for the service.
Last night my wife and I ate at Hurricane in Boca Raton. It was our first time.
Great looking casula restaurant done in a Key West look.
We shared honey mustard wings and parmesan garlic wings. We also shared a huge chicken salad that was only $10.
The food was excellent. The honey mustard wings were some of the best that I’ve ever had.
The waitress was terrific and was around the table with plenty of soda refills. Same goes for the manager Glenn who stopped by twice dring the meal to see how we were doing.
This is one of the better wing restaurants that we have been to.
stopped by new boca store last night around 8:30pm. not very busy. had some teriyaki wings, fries and kettle chips. delicious.
tried hw tonite. very good,
jeff, i live and work in boca raton. hurricane is a great addition to the area. the food is very good and very fairly priced. the new location is also a great looking restaurant.
IF THE MGT IS READING: The out door seating STINKS. Your hi tops are terrible. They are flimsy and very very very uncomfortable. PLEASE GET SOME REAL TABLES AND CHAIRS OUT THERE.
Thanks,
JJ
Excellent wings.
I go to the one in Parkland.
I live in Mission Bay in Boca. A Hurricane is opening in the Mission Bay Shopping Center. Great spot.
tonite in boca hurricane at 7:30pm. restaurant was very busy with loads of families.
really enjoyed the parmesan wings, ff.
love the parmesan wings.
same for parmesan ff.
Delish wings and salads.
I have ordered and picked up food 7 times over the last 3 months from the HW in Boca on Powerline. Each time, the order was ready when I arrived and nothing was screwedup. Love the food and the great service.
food is ok.. run of the mill sysco quality. i managed one for a short period of time and was not impressed
ok wings lousy onion rings
The wings are fair. same goes for the rest of the food.
We really enjoy the store in Coconut Creek. Great wings, salads, burgers all priced right.
Tried the new Mission Bay store in Boca.
Food was good.
delicious wings.
This evening my wife called and placed a pickup order at the Mission Bay store in Boca Raton. When I got there, I gave her name to a young lady at the front counter and I was told that there was no order The girl behind the counter asked me and actually questioned me as to whether or not I was in the right store. Having been born in 1949 I like to believe that I know what I am doing, but did call my wife who confirmed that she had called the Mission Bay store. Finally, I had the girl open up one of two takeout order bags sitting on the counter and low and behold there was our order. I asked the manager about this and he said that my wife’s name should have been on the sales slip. While talking to the manager the girl who had told me that I may not be in the right store, gave another customer a wink, you know the kind that says, “this guy is a pain in the ass.”
I will never ever go in that store.
Hurricane’s management better start running their stores the right way or they will die a retailer’s death.
Hurricane Wings food is OK but nothing special.
mission bay store wings ok but nothing great
powerline store in boca, good wings and salad. wings could be bigger and meatier, but they are tasty.
ordered wings and a salad over the phone.
pickedup the food and presented rewards card. young lady who ran the bill, didnt enter the card the right way and just handed it back to me. when confronted she said that she hadnt really entered it. owner came over, told him what happen and he gave me a $15 gift certificate.
got food in card, decided to check order before leaving parking lot and found salad was missing. went back into store to get food.
what a terribly run store this is.
this is the one on palmetto/powerline in boca.
never going there again.
FYI…Plantation/Sunrise store is no more.
Good wings and salads.
By the way their computer system still stinks.
Check your loyalty account.
Closed on Powerline.
love their teriyaki wings.
Their wings aren’t top quality.
First time at this chain. Ate in Boca on 441. Loved the wings, salad and starter beef sliders.
