Lil’ Ole Caboose (Deerfield Beach)
***** Lil’ Ole Caboose, 204 South Powerline Road, Deerfield Beach, Florida (954) 428-1597.
Let me start by saying, that my wife won’t set foot in this joint…that said, I absolutely love this fast-food burger joint which has been around something like 25 years. You can either eat inside or on a few outdoor tables. Shaped like a caboose, this joint is as close to White Castle Burgers as you will find anywhere in South Florida. Lil’ also has great french fries similar to the ones that Nathan’s sells.
If White Castle Burgers and Nathan’s Famous French Fries set your heart a flutter, then this joint is absolutely positively for you.
Lil’ Ole Caboose is open 7 days a week for lunch and dinner.
OK, so I’m a displaced New Yorker, and my tongue has five little bumps on it that correspond to the little holes in a White Castle burger. I long for that taste and the gastric distress that follows shortly afterwards, so when Jeff says that a joint just 15 minutes down Jog (nee Powerline) serves not only White Castle taste alikes but fries close to those Nathan’s famous fries of my youth, I have to make the pilgrimage.
I did just that today, and darned if he wasn’t telling the truth! I took out my order so that I could share with my wife who stayed home, but everything traveled well and we shared a great lunch. Now that I know how to satisfy that slider urge, I know that I will be a frequent patron of that Lil Ole Caboose.
Thanks again Jeff – great recommendation!
Hello again Jeff –
I’ve become a fairly regular visitor to this little haven since my first visit last November. John, whom I assume is the owner, is a friendly guy who keeps the burgers steaming and the fries frying. I’ve brought many visitors along with me, including my wife and my mother-in-law, to sample the fare, and everyone has enjoyed themselves. We can’t imagine why your wife won’t step foot in the place – it’s not the Ritz, but I’ve seen much worse. I’ve become addicted to their burgers and fries and their diet birch beer, and it’s wrecking havoc on my attempt at some sort of healthy diet. Still, it’s worth it!
Bill from Delray Beach: Just had a chance to read your post. I’m with you on this one.
Take a look at my writeup on Arnold’s Royal Castle. If you can handle the drive, the sliders are terrific. If I had to rate Caboose vs. Royal, Royal wins hands-down.
Thanks for reading…
i live in seattle wash. and when ever i go to florida i have to eat here.its so awsome.keep up the good food john. we need one in seattle lol
I love this place.
Get your french fries hot! The fried fish sanwiches are righteous and so are the sliders. I live 20 miles away so whever I eat there I take some sliders home…. otherwise I feel cheated the next day
Out of business.

Hey Jeff, FYI, They are closed and a place called Carosel BBQ is opening real
soon in its location. I heard it’s a food truck from Riviera Beach now becoming
a brick and mortar.
