Old Key Lime House (Lantana)
***** Old Key Lime House, 300 East Ocean Avenue, Lantana, Florida 33462 (561) 582-1889.
Old Key Lime House has been around since 1989…This joint is an absolute “must try”…for those seeking a very reasonably priced–very casual seafood joint. Tee shirts/shorts are the dress of the day. Old Key Lime is what Florida is all about…that being, eating in a tiki-hut located on the Intracoastal Waterway. Take a look at its website at www.oldkeylimehouse.com for menu/photos/details.
Just so we are straight here… most of the appetizers, salads, sandwiches and entrees are… shall-we-say, for fish/seafood lovers. There are enough meat/chicken items so that nobody goes home starved…but the game here is seafood.
Just a suggestion…Take your out of state friends to Old Key Lime for lunch or dinner and I’ll bet that after eating they put down a deposit to buy a condo here in old South Florida.
The joint is open 7 days a week for lunch and dinner.
I tried them for the first time i few weeks ago and really enjoyed it. I am on a Fish Taco binge and theirs was good but with one complaint they only gave a salsa to top it. The fish was great but Fish tacos call for a better condiment.
Went the other night for the first time and wasn’t impressed with anything but the views. I decided to just try some apps, so I had the lobster bisque, calamari, apinich & art dip, and hot crab dip. The best was the bisque. A little thin and lacking any pieces of lobster with substance, but still good. The spinich dip ranked next but was average at best and served w/ tortilla chips which to me is lazy. The crab dip and calamari were both just plain bad. Calamari was obviously frozen and not fresh, although they gave you enough to feed an army, and the crab dip lacked any flavor and was again served with tortilla chips. A friend had the fish tacos and had the same comments Mark did above.
