***** American Pop 60’s *****

If you like 60’s Rock N Roll, I got something for you…American Pop 60’s, a terrific 4-piece 1960’s cover band based in Orlando, Florida. The group does absolutely perfect renditions of American hits from 1960-1969. The band also has a big kicker…namely, lead singer Mark Dawson…who also- happens to be the current lead singer of the lengendary 1960’s-1970’s band, The Grass Roots who have sold over 20,000,000 records worldwide…with hits such as–Let’s Live For Today, Sooner Or Later, Where Were You When I Need You, Temptation Eyes, Midnight Confessions. Two Divided By Love, Wait A Million Years, The River Is Wide.

Like I said before, if you like 1960’s American Rock N Roll…you will absolutely love American Pop 60’s. In addition to a “mini” Grass Roots concert, American Pop 60’s performs hauntingly accurate versions of gold & platinum hits by groups– The Buckinghams, Gary Lewis & The Playboys, Three Dog Night, The Doors,The Rascals, just to name a few.

I recently saw American Pop 60’s at a private party…they blew me away. They are sensational.

Look for this band- to start making the rounds of South Florida’s residential communities, country clubs and concert venues…www.ap60.bandzoogle.com.

Hey Jeff, I saw American Pop 60’s at the Woodfield Country Club in Boca Raton. They are like you say, outstanding. Great covers and the Grass Roots’ stuff is dynamite. Great personality on that lead singer. When I saw them, they also invited Dave Cooper the lead singer of Mellow Yellow Experience http://www.mellowyellowband.com who was a guest to sing. Let me tell you that guy can also sing.
Looking forward to American Pop’s getting on a club circuit in Dade-Broward-Palm Beach so I can see them again.

Like L. Rappaport my wife and I also saw American Pop 60’s at the Woodfield Country Club on Sunday, November 7, 2010. For the record, the group appeared at Woodfield’s Season Opening Weekend and there were close to 1,500 in attendance.
American Pop 60’s played 3 50 minute sets and did great versions of some of the greatest rock hits of the 1960’s.
Over the years, my wife and I have attended numerous concerts and have seen bands galore in action.
What we found unique about this band was the poise of lead singer Mark Dawson. An absolute natural as a front man/lead singer. This is not to take anything away from the three other members of the group as they all have terrific voices and also handled many lead duties.
We think that Dawson’s poise and showmanship was honed as the front man of The Grass Roots in major venues such as The Hard Rock Casino, Mohegan Sun Casino etc.
If you can, go and see this band.
We also enjoyed the guest appearance of Dave Cooper from Mellow Yellow. He performed a sensational lead on Three Dog Night’s “One Is The Loneliest Number.”

    Jeff,
Like others here I caught American Pop’s act last Sunday afternoon. Outstanding 1960s covers.
I checked their site and I see that the next date in our area is December but it looks like a private date.
I really hope that American Pops gets into the local public places in our area.

Thanks so much for the kind words everyone. Woodfield was a blast for the band!

I wanted to respond to G. Litner, as I found out the American Pop 60’s dinner show at the PGA Spa and Resort on December 11th, will be open to the public. It’s located at 400 Ave of Champions, in Palm Beach Gardens (800-633-9150 for info). The show runs from 8 to 10:30pm.

Be sure to say “Hi”. Take care

    Mark Dawson

  7. LARRY says...

Jeff: The lead singer, Mark Dawson is also the lead singer of The Grass Roots. He is incredible.

  8. Oh Carol says...

Jeff. Mark Dawson is now the lead singer of The Grass Roots. He sounds just like Rob Grill who was the lead but he recently died. The group with The Turtle and Gary Puckett is at The Seminole Casino on 2/12/12 at 1 pm . I’ve seen this show and will definitely catch this one.

  9. Toby says...

Saw Dawson with grass roots this afternoon. The guy is a great lead singer.
