For our purposes we are gonna call this Matteo’s story “A Public Service Announcement”…it might be too late to use it – for Mother’s Day but Father’s Day (for the uninformed- Father’s Day is Mother’s Day without presents) is another story!
Anyway,
If you guys are looking for delicious Southern Italian food, great service, huge portions, reasonable prices- you gotta checkout Matteo’s which has a joint in Boca Raton and a joint in Hallandale!
Straight up, Matteo’s is handily one of Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats’ favorite Florida- Italian restaurants. No bs- we’ve been eating at Matteo’s for years- and every meal- has been right on the money!
Printed down below are previous Jeff Eats’ Matteo’s stories…

Assuming that you aren’t gonna pull a Michael-Captain McCluskey-Sollozzo “scene”on me…
Jeff Eats and Mrs. Jeff Eats and Family- are “eating” at Matteo’s Restaurant in Boca Raton at 7pm. Nothing like good solid-Pilgrim food!-fried zucchini, penne ala vodka, chicken cacciatore, baked clams, linguine in white clam sauce, broiled pork chops, veal marsala- to help us remember Plymouth Rock and Tippecanoe & Tyler Too!
Just so you know, Matteo’s in Boca Raton is one of “our” favorite Italian joints in Florida. Matteo’s food kills and its service is about as good as it gets. If you wanna “see” what a top-shelf restaurant is suppose to be- you eat at Matteo’s in Boca Raton. By the way, “we” also-really enjoy Matteo’s Hallandale location, same great food and service- but Boca Raton is- the Eats’ neighborhood so the Boca Raton joint- is an easier and more convenient outing for us!
Happy Holiday to you and your family.

Trust Jeff Eats when I tell you that Matteo’s broiled pork chop “covered” with grilled onions/mushrooms/cherry peppers is absolutely off the chart. The chop is HUGE and every time I’ve had it, it was a challenge to finish the whole thing. I’m telling you, this chop is something very-very special.
Just so we are straight with each other, Matteo’s is one of the best Italian joints in South Florida. Jeff Eats has literally eaten there countless- times and the food and service are always top-shelf.
Matteo’s is an absolute must try!

Certain things in life bear repeating…
Matteo’s with locations in Boca Raton, Hallandale is one of the best Italian restaurants in South Florida.
If you check…Back on March 19, 2008, I did a writeup on Matteo’s. I absolutely love this joint.You can check Matteo’s menu/prices at www.matteosristorante.com.
Matteo’s has 2 South Florida locations…Boca Raton, Hallandale…on average, I am probably in either the Boca or Hallandale joints at least once a month.
Matteo’s food is delicious. Matteo’s service is outstanding. Matteo’s prices are not-exactly “cheap,” but if you’re sensible when ordering, you won’t need a second job to pay the bill…Matteo’s features both family-style and individual portions. Matteo’s is a “white-tablecloth” joint, but your tee shirt/shorts ensemble will work.
Matteo’s started out as a Long Island joint…check the website for NY locations etc…Not exactly sure when its first S. Florida location (Boca Raton) opened, but from day-one Matteo’s has been a “homerun”…its enormous NY following, translated into an enormous South Florida following.
Look…I could go on and on about this joint…
I am telling you, that if you want terrific Italian food, served by a professional staff…with a management team that makes you feel like you are family…then you want to absolutely positively eat at Matteo’s.
You now know “again” about a sensational Italian joint that is not to be missed.

Matteo’s is a Southern Italian Restaurant. Matteo’s has 2 South Florida locations. Matteo’s is not cheap, but you won’t go to the poor-house, if you order sensibly. Matteo’s serves both family-style and individual sized portions. Matteo’s food is absolutely sensational. Matteo’s wait-staff is probably the best in all of South Florida. Matteo’s is always jammed.
Check Matteo’s website www.matteosrestaurants.com for menu/pricing/details.
Matteo’s is one of my favorite Italian Restaurants.
End of story.
Boca location is listed for sale
JEFF –
Wish I could travel from New Jersey once a week to eat at Matteo’s –
Will be back in January –
Beside the best food – Peter is also the best –
Peter who is the Boca GM runs a great ship. The food and service are always spot on. I have been eating at Boca for years and love the place. I’ve heard terrific things about Hallandale but have never eaten there. One of these days after playing at Gulfstream I’m going to give Hallandale a try.
Jeff,
We live in Boca. We have eaten in Boca location countless times.
Last Saturday, we ate in Hallandale for the first time.
Same great food and service.
Jeff,
My husband and I recently moved from Weston to Boca Raton. Read about Matteo’s on Jeff Eats and we gave it a try last night. You were right on the call, delicious food and top notch service. We had a simple meal of chopped salad, we split a veal valdastana and ziti with meat sauce. Everything was delicious and the service couldn’t have been more professional and pleasant.
Love this joint. Peter the GM in Boca runs a great ship. The food and service are terrific.
This is definitely one of the best Italian restaurants in Boca Raton. Fabulous food and terrific service.
Haven’t been to Hallandale location.
Ate in Boca this evening and the food was very good.
Service was slow but in all fairness the restaurant was jammed.
The food in Hallandale is better than it is in Boca Raton.
First time eating at Matteos in Boca and my wife and I loved the food. Fabulous chopped salad, veal valdastana and penne in marinara sauce.
Just had at Hallandale location their chopped salad and a broiled pork chop both were delicious.
Usually eat in Boca location, last night ate in Hallandale and its food was lousy same for its service.
Ordered food directly from the restaurant for delivery to our Boca home because of the virus.
The food arrived perfectly wrapped and piping hot and delicious.
Jeff,
I know that you are a big fan.
Sorry to say, that last Saturday night my party of 4 thought that our Matteo’s meal in Boca Raton was second rate. It was our first time eating at Matteo’s and every dish which included veal parmIguana, Chicken Matteo, Alfredo linguine, Chicken Matteo and Shrimp Wendy were second rate.
Last night my wife and I ate at Matteo’s in Boca Raton.
Best baked clams, fried zucchini, penne ala vodka chicken parmigiana we have had in south Florida since moving here in 2022 from Albany, N.Y.
Glad that we recently found the Jeff Eats’ blog and read its review on Matteo’s.
My wife, son and I ate at Matteo’s in Boca Raton and the food was excellent. Same for the service. We are originally from Livingston, NJ and just moved 3 months ago to Boca Raton. This was our first time there.
The dishes we had, include baked clams, chopped salad, penne a la vodka, fried zucchini, veal parm and veal chop valdastanano. .
We loved Matteo’s and we will definitely be steady customers.
My multi generational family has been a Matteo customer here in Florida and Ny for over 30 years.
Last week my husband and I ate at a recently open 388 in Boca Raton. In short, 388 is owned by Matteo’s former owner who years ago sold the Matteo ‘business’ to its current owner. 388’s menu is basically an exact copy of the current Matteo’s menu. We ordered some of our old Matteo’s favorites and simply put, the food just wasn’t as good as Matteo’s, nothing terrible, just not as good.
Last night my husband and I and another couple ate at Matteo’s in Boca Raton for the first time.
To start off, both inside and outside at 6:30pm the restaurant was jammed with people. We had a 6:30pm reservation was promptly honored.
We ordered and shared, chopped salad, baked clams, fried zucchini, chicken parmigiana, garlic bread, and as friendly as could be. penne a la vodka, veal valdostana, espressos and a Napoleon for dessert, 4 soft drinks.
The portions were huge, every dish was delicious and the service was as professional as could be.
With the tip, a meal was $55 a person.
This was our first visit there and all four off us will definitely be back.
Visiting from Montreal with wife and our 3 kids.
Ate outside at Boca location.
Food was terrific same for the service,
Will definitely be back on our next visit,
