Gallaghers Steakhouse (Boca Raton)

Posted on December 28th, 2023 · American Boca Raton Seafood

Gallaghers Steakhouse, 2005 Northwest Executive Center Circle, Boca Raton, Florida 33431, (561) 559-5800.

Last night Jeff Eats, Mrs. Jeff Eats and another couple ate dinner at Gallaghers Steakhouse which opened something like 6 months ago in Boca Raton and I gotta tell you guys all 4 of us were very disappointed!

Simple tale to tell, indoor table & booth/outside covered patio table seating, “typical” upscale steakhouse white table cloth dark wood decor, full liquor bar, “expected” upscale steakhouse appetizer/meat/seafood/sides menu/prices. Our meal (no liquor or desserts) with tip was $400. The food at best was mediocre- trust me, all four of us have had much better here in Florida!

Rather than going on and on, I am telling you guys- for the same money (off the top of my head) I can name 5 upscale steakhouses within a 15 minute drive from Gallaghers Steakhouse that are better, New York Prime (Boca Raton), Abe & Louie’s (Boca Raton), Ruth’s Chris Steak House (Boca Raton), NYY Steaks (Coconut Creek), Cut 432 (Delray Beach). Three last thoughts, for the money- portions were extremely skimpy, porterhouse steak and prime rib/sides were all served barely lukewarm, service was pleasant but amateurish- can’t remember ever seeing a busboy nor anyone ever refilling a water glass or asking our party how every-thing was!

Now you guys and I know that this food reviewing gig is purely a subjective call, you know what Jeff Eats loves, you may hate and vice versa! With that in mind, you can check menu/prices/info at gallagherssteakhouse.com.

Gallaghers Steakhouse is open 7 days a week noon-10pm.

    Jeff,

My wife and I ate dinner at Gallaghers last week and your call is right on the money. MEDIOCRE!

My family has lived in Boca Raton for 29 years. Over that time we have eaten in all of the steakhouses that you mentioned and they are all better. We have also eaten in loads of other steakhouses in Florida and most of them were better than Gallaghers.
As you know Gallaghers is the new game in town. With that in mind it has been doing big business in an already crowded upscale steakhouse market.

Let’s see how it’s doing after the holidays and the newness has worn off.

    Take care,

    ITZLER

The new kid in town’s food was lousy.
    The place looks upscale.
    Prices, upscale steakhouse numbers.
    The service is decent.

My wife and I ate there a month ago. We shared a chopped caesar salad which wasn’t bad. Our shared porterhouse steak was difficult even with a sharpened steak knife to cut. Chewing it was even more difficult. The onion rings side was cold, same for the lyonnaise potatoes.

My wife and I are not fans of NY Prime next door. That said, its food runs circles around this joint. Same for Abe & Louie’s which is 1 minute away on Glades Road.

I agree with you, that NYY Steak in the Seminole Casino Coconut Creek is one of the best steak joints in Florida. Priced right, super staff, live music on weekends.

Gallaghers is a second rate steakhouse.

My bf and I ate there last week and the restaurant was totally out of control. I appreciate that its Christmas time and there is a ton of visitors down here, but when you give me a reservation for 8pm, I shouldn’t have to wait to 9pm to be seated.

As for the food. Bad news. The only thing that was good was the bread basket they had. The prime rib we had was ok, but far from being anything to write home about. Same goes for the bacon appetizer we had. Portions are small. The servers are amateurish and I don’t recall ever seeing a bus boy at our table. The service is very slow and not enjoyable. The prices are average for upscale steakhouses, Not exactly cheap.

I have eaten in their other location which is in Manhattan.

    Average at best,

South Florida has some really good steakhouses.

Not so sure that Gallaghers will be a big winner in Boca Raton. You have 2 top notch steakhouses NY PRIME and ABE & LOUIE’S literally right next door to Gallaghers and both are excellent.

    LUKEWARM OVER PRICED FOOD

    PERIOD

  6. Steve Cross says...

Looking over the jeffeats.com site I see that years ago, you didn’t like Chops Lobster Bar in Boca, as well as Morton’s and Capital Grille. All are still doing big business in Boca Raton.

Like you I recently ate at the newly opened Gallaghers and was surprised that the food wasn’t very good.

    Jeff,
Nice seeing you and Karen last night. It’s been almost 6 years since we last saw you.

On this Gallagher joint, we waited last night for an 1hr and 15 minutes for a table although we had a set reservation.

Jammed. But the crowd did thin out around 9pm.

As for the food etc., there is absolutely nothing special about its food. As you pointed out, there are tons of better steakhouses a few minutes away in Boca Raton. As for the service, pleasant but overwhelmed.

The prices were inline with other joints in the area, but I thought that the quality of the food wasn’t top notch. The portions size was skimpy for the prices.

Gallaghers is new to the area. It remains to be seen if it can successfully compete with the already established joints.

I think that that the owners should take a hard look at what they are offering, because for right now they aren’t even close to their competitors.

    Take Care,
    Happy Holiday
    Mike P

My wife and I have an apt in Manhattan and an apt in Boca Raton.

Over the years, we have eaten in a number of steak houses in both Florida and NY.

We have eaten a handful of times at the Gallaghers in NYC. Not in the league of Peter Lugers or Wolfgangs but all in all, pretty decent.

This past September we ate at Gallaghers in Boca which had opened in 7/23. If I didn’t know better, I’d swear that Boca and NYC were owned and operated by different groups. The food in Boca was lousy, same story on the service. To be perfectly honest with you, I assigned the big difference on the fact that Boca had some kinks to iron out as it was a new operation etc.

My wife and I have been Jeff Eats’ fans for years. If you read his write ups, it is extremely rare for him to bash a restaurant. It seems that Jeff Eats only bashes when the restauant is an absolute disaster.

Here it is the end of December, 2023 and Jeff Eats thought that Gallaghers was a disaster.

As I said before, my wife and I were not impressed in September.

As Jeff Eats always says, food reviewing is a subjective call.

  9. Lou Gordon says...

My wife and I ate at Gallaghers this past Tuesday and have to agree with you that the food wasn’t good and the service was basically non existent.

  10. Stuart Thompson says...

    Jeff,

    Overpriced mediocre food /service.

Look at YELP reviews. Lots of very unfavorable reviews.

You are 100% correct your short list of steakhouses are all better than this newcomer.

  11. Paul Roth says...

To sum up this restaurant, the bread basket is the best thing served, says it all!

Keep in mind, Boca Raton and the surrounding area has a great number of people who don’t know sh@t about what good food and service are all about. They just run to see and be seen.

Any sensible person who has eaten in top shelf steak restaurants knows that Gallaghers isn’t one of them.

  12. During the past 2 weeks my wife and I tried 2 new players in Boca, Gallaghers and Meat Market and both are overpriced food/service restaurants. Personally, I thought that Gallaghers’ food which was just average was better than Meat Market’s food. Meat Market is a pickup joint with a huge bar business. When we went, both were packed because of the time of the year. It remains to be seen how both do in the off season.

  13. Marvin W says...

My wife and I tried Gallaghers a few weeks ago and we were not impressed with the food or the service. At steak restaurants I usually order a bacon appetizer. Gallaghers was absolute garbage. As for its ribeye and porterhouse steak we’ve had much better.

We really can’t see Gallaghers making it in Boca Raton, especially when it’s right next to NY Prime and a 2 minute drive from Abe & Louie’s.

  14. Gordon Ryder says...

I am really sorry that i didn’t heed your warning.
Last night, my wife and I ate at Gallaghers, ordering the House Smoke Bacon, The Wedge, Porterhouse Steak, onions rings and besides being ridiculously overpriced the food wasn’t very good. The standout item of our order was the bacon which was disgusting.
    We won’t be back.

Next time I promise I’ll listen to you!

  15. Marvin Gordon says...

    Inferior food.
    Crappy service.
    Overpriced food.

    • Ed Fogel says...

      You perfectly described this joint.

  16. Ted Nixon says...

Ate there last night with some business partners. All 5 of us agreed that Gallagher’s food needs to be improved, same for its service.

  17. Billy Dern says...

    Jeff,
Ate lunch there the other day and the food was pretty good.

  18. Donna Shields says...

My husband and I ate dinner there last night.
    The restaurant was jammed.
Food and service were okay, but nothing great.
Abe & Louie’s and Ny Prime which are 5 minutes away fromGallaghers are much better.

  19. Robin Gregory says...

My husband and I ate at Gallagher’last night.
Very busy, with a 20 minute wait.
We have eaten in NYC location a handful of times.
The Boca location’s food isnt as good, same goes for its service.
