Campagnolo Italian Restaurant (Boca Raton)
Campagnolo Italian Restaurant, 3013 Yamato Road, Boca Raton, Florida 33434, (561) 989-1990.
Campagnolo has been open for about 3 months. This Southern Italian joint serves both individual/family style…for example, a half order of spaghetti & meatballs runs $11.95 and a full order costs $19.95…a half order of chicken scarpariello runs $18.95 and a full order is $31.95…a half order of chicken piccata runs $13.95 and a full order is $24.95…
I ate dinner twice at this joint and took-out a pizza another time. Just so you know, in addition to that pizza, I “sampled” a fried zucchini appetizer, a baked clams appetizer, a chicken scarpariello entree, a chicken parmigiana entree, a veal pizzaiola entree, a calamari marinara entree and an order of rigatoni a la vodka.
Over-all I would rate the food as borderline FAIR… Let me give you the actual scorecard… The zucchini was good…The baked clams were fair…The chicken scarpariello was fair…The chicken parmigiana tasted like the chicken parmigiana that Saga Food served me at Ithaca College, circa 1970, horrendous…The veal pizzaiola was fair…The calamari marinara was fair…The rigatoni a la vodka was good…The pizza was lousy.
The service was good. You do get plenty of food for the money whether you order half/full portions…then again, if the stuff is no good, you don’t need a ton of it.
Let’s put it this way…Your favorite neighborhood joint is better than this latest South Florida Italian restaurant entry.
Campagnolo is open 7 days a week for lunch and dinner
***AT THE REQUEST OF CAMPAGNOLA’S OWNER (July 15, 2011)…PLEASE BE ADVISED THAT THIS RESTAURANT HAS CLOSED.
jeff I been at both campagnolo restaurants ,I dont know were you come from and what makes you a food expert.the food in both places at all times were great, there food is alway fresh and has a great homemade taste. I live in newyork and the food and pizza in campagnolo restaurant is as great as any top restaurant in longIsland were in live .people like you should not have a website
Jeff I see we have the same tastes in food! Great site man, keep up the good work!
Lapp: Thanks for the kind comments. I really enjoy your site http://www.worstpizza.com and plan on checking out some of the joints that you reviewed for future jeffeats’ writeups.
Larry: Just had a chance to read your comments about Campagnolo. Everyone is entitled to his or her’s opinions about food and restaurants. That’s what makes horse races.
Thanks for reading jeffeats.com
Wish I’d have read your review before I went there. The Chichen Parm had the flavor of cardboard, tender but bland. Huge portions but left it there. Wasn’t worth taking home
I too am surprised the review i have always enjoyed my meals at the Wellington location but then i am not a fan of the Red sauce places I prefer the lighter side of Italian fare and they seem to hit the mark there. IMHO
Romano: Just had a chance to read your post.
First…since you have worked at Campagnolo for 3 years you obviously must be talking about the one that is not located in Boca Raton, because the one that I reviewed hasn’t even been open 1 year. Second…what you may consider good maybe lousy to me, that’s what horse races are all about. Third…since you work for this joint, isn’t it possible that you may just be a little bias, after-all you do get paid by the owners, don’t you? On he other hand, I just call it like I see it it. Fourth…I ate there twice and took out pizza a third time. Just maybe I was trying to give this joint the benefit of the doubt. Like I said, the food is FAIR, nothing more and nothing less. Fifth…I eat in restaurants, I don’t build them and I don’t run them.
Anyway thanks for reading….
I dont know where you come form but i have worked at campagnolo for 3 years and i have heard and tasted nothing but excellent things. Everyone i refer to the restaurant gives me compliments and raves about it. So why dont you go back to eating garbage at olive garden and keep your mouth shut. if you think its so bad why did you go back 3 or 4 times. and open your own damn place if you think you can do better!!
Gave Campognola’s a go last night. The pizza is okay nothing great but not terrible. Nice looking place. By the way it was pretty busy in there around 7 pm.
Took a plain large pizza out from Boca location last night. The pizza was absolutely horrible. This place won’t see me again.
anyone who eats here is wasting his or her money. much better restaurants in boca to eat in.
garbage.
the food is just plain lousy.
the pizza tastes like something publix sells in the frozen food department.
WITH A NAME LIKE JEFF YOU ARE I GUESS NOT EVEN ITALIAN SO WHAT WOULD YOU KNOW ABOUT REAL ITALIAN FOOD HERES THE THING FOOD IS LIKE MUSIC AND IT I A MATTER OF TASTE SO DONT GO TRASHIN FOOD YOU DONT HAVE AN AQUIRED TASTE TO REVIEW ALMOST EVERYONE I KNOW WHO IS ITALIAN AND FROM NY SAY THE FOOD I S AS GREAT AS LITTLE ITALY IN NY OR BETTER SO BEFORE YOU RELY ON YOUR OWN TASTE BUDS WHY NOT TAKE A POL OF REAL NYERS
Ron Sparks: Just had a chance to read your post.
Sooo…if I follow your logic, because someone isn’t Chinese, he/she wouldn’t know good from bad Chinese food…because someone isn’t French he/she wouldn’t know good from bad French food.
You’re too funny…
Trust me, this joint’s food is FAIR at best.
Thanks for reading…stammi bene!!
I went to Campagnolo (Boca) for the first time yesterday. The food was excellent. I’ve been to a ton of Italian joints in FL and NY and I must say it’s def one of my favs.
Food B-
Service B
My wife and I live in the WCC which is right next door to Campagnolo’s Boca restaurant. Vito’s use to be in that spot.
Because it is so close, we have tried it eaten there twice and taken food out once.
The food is okay. It is passable. Nothing terrific. Anyone who thinks that this is top notch food deoesn’t know anything about Italian food.
That’s the truth.
out of business
the food was horrendous.
Not quite out of business; they switched locations. The new location is beautiful and the service is absolutely outstanding. Great atmosphere.
I JUST WENT WITH A GROUP OF 18 PEOPLE, I KNEW THE FOOD NOT GREAT TO SAY THE LEAST BUT I WENT WITH THE GROUP AND COULD NOT SAY NO. WHAT A HORROR. WE WERE PUT NEAR THE BAR.THE NOISE IS DEAFING. THE FOOD WAS HORRIBLE EVERYONE IN THE PARTY AGREED.THEY SCREWED UP THE ORDERS, SOME NEVER GOT THEIRS.THE MANAGER GAVES US FREE WINE AND DESSERT TO COMPENSATE US FOR THE MESS.THE WAIT STAFF WAS UNORGANIZED . JUST A BAD EXPERIENCE BUT THE COMPANY WAS GOOD.ONLY THING GOOD WAS THE MINISTRONE SOUP.
we tried the new location on boca rio rd. be smart, not good.
When Campagnolo opened in Regency my wife and I were very excited, because A restaurant by the same name in NYC is one of our favorites. We met friend at the boca location 2 or 3 times for cocktails and appetizers and enjoyed it. One night my wife and I went alone and ordered a full course meal, that was our last time at Campagnolo’s.
Last week my wife and I were in the Wellington Mall. The entrance that we came in on was on the second floor and when we entered we were immediately next to Too Jay’s and a Campagnolo restaurant. There was a guy standing outside of Campagnolo handing out pizza samples from a tray. He handed me one piece and it tasted like something that came out of a frozen pizza box that you buy at Publix. What a piece of crap. Now if this the best they can do and is an example of what their food tastes like they are in really big trouble. That one little bite convinced me never to set foot in this restaurant.
the boca store has a $20 meal deal. for the money not bad at all.
quality prices for inferior food.
Interesting read. Meeting friends there tomorrow on the Glades Rd. site. These two who invited us rave about this place… will let ya’all know.
The service was the worst. The bartender brought our drinks and couldn’t get anything right. The salad was tasteless no matter how much salt it took. The eggplant parm was just bland and it must have been frozen. It was two tiny thin slices of eggplant with plenty of breading. The cheese on top was probably not mozzarella but provalone and it was flat and hard. The pasta … left it in the dish, couldn’t eat it. The chicken wasn’t bad thats all I could say for that. Our waiter was from another planet. His mind was somewhere on mars because he was very slow and we kept reminding him and he would just go in the back and not come out. Saw the owner there but he was not bothering to see if the customers were being attended to properly. A joke. Waste of money.
Oh and one more thing…I am full blooded Italian and from New York… to the staff who wrote to you and said you couldn’t know the food because you weren’t Italian. I am also a great cook. This area is so full of restaurants your site is valuable and you save us time and money so thanks…. ( BTW, I love knishes, and pastrami sandwiches and matzo ball soup.) So ?
This one closed on Yamato and reopened on Glades Road in Boca Raton.
The other night I used a Groupon coupon and had dinner.
Food is fair at best.
There are many better Italian restaurants in Boca.
