The Unemployed Chef (Coral Gables)
***** The Unemployed Chef, 2030 South Douglas Road, Coral Gables, Florida 33134, (305) 441-2433.
For our purposes…we’re gonna call The Unemployed Chef-a fast food (order at/pickup at the counter) “American” joint…handful of tables–breakfast stuff, salads, personal pizzas, burgers, sandwiches/wraps/subs. You can check menu/prices at www.theunemployedchef.com.
First let Jeff Eats get this off his chest, I think that the joint’s name s-u-c-k-s. Too cute for my taste, but since I got no skin in this game, the owners can call the joint whatever they -like. I’m thinking a name like Gables’ Luncheonette, or SB Luncheonette (sisters Sandy and Barbara are the owners)—has so much more pizzaz, but that’s just me.
Anyway…
The Unemployed Chef is an absolutely dynamite breakfast/lunch joint…or shall I say luncheonette?
A recent outing had Jeff Eats “trying” Caesar salad ($4.69), 2 black angus beef sliders/with french fries ($5.29), 10″ plain thin crust pizza ($6.99), philly cheese steak hoagie ($6.69) and I gotta tell you–this joint turns out some really delicious food.
No matter what Sandy and Barbara call it, this joint is a homerun.
The Unemployed Chef is open Monday-Friday 8am-4pm, closed Saturday & Sunday.

I enjoy your blog. I have a suggestion for your consideration.
From time to time you report on a place that you feel is terrific/dynamite/fantastic etc. It would be great to have easy access on your site to a list of places you have recently reported on that you rate as this good. For example, it would be helpful to be able to search for and find a list of places reviewed by you within the last 2 years that were/are this good. No doubt one could come up with ways to search within the top X list but that is for later perhaps.
Best wishes
David
Jeff
I see that you placed my e-mail to you as an entry under the Unemployed Chef (Coral Gables) review. Originally, when I wrote to you I was thinking of it as a private side-communication. I don’t mind it being published but perhaps it would be better and more likely to get attention if it was a subject in its own right and not submerged underneath a review that maybe only few of your readers may look at.
Best wishes
David

The BOD is still looking into your proposal.

THIS PLACE HAS CLOSED… Its a tragic shame. I find myself not enjoying anything around coral gables anymore. If you find them again please give me a heads up!
