Have to agree with you.
There are loads of good ones and loads of bad ones.
This one sticks out in my mind.
The owners weren’t playing with all of their cards. The food was fair. The restaurant needed a good cleaning. Very bizarre outing, one that I still can recall even though it was about 5 years ago.
I know that most of the restaurants are mom & pop folks trying to make a living. So it isn’t my style to bash them. I make an exception for Antonio’s. The food is fair so is the service. The owners are imbeciles who treat customers like dogs. They are nasty guys with no manners. I ate there one time and would never evr go back. They were insulting. In addition back in 2008 which was the last time I was there, the restaurant was dirty as all hell.
There are so many good Italian restaurants in Florida to go to. Be smart and don’t even think of going into this one.
I originally sent this comment about Antonio’s in 2011. Anyway who goes there should be ashamed of themselves. The owners are asses.
“a few years ago, i and three others were going to the deerfield july 4th celebration. when we tried to park in the cove parking lot, there were two oragnge cones reserving spots in front of antonio’s. you can’t do that, so i moved one of the cones. out of nowhere one of the owners came running out of the store cursing at me and telling me that those two parking spots were for his customers. when i explained that you can’t use cones in a public lot, he became super beligerent and was screaming as if he was going to kill me. lucky for HIM there were five police officers in the lot because of the event who came over and explained to him that his cones had to go and that i had every right to park there. i didn’t park there because i figured that this jerk would later damage my car after i had left to go to the fair. i found a spot in another area of the cove.
the owner of his restaurant is a very sick person.”
dont go in there.
dont give them any business.
Let me pile on here.
I eat all over.
I heard from a very reliable source that the owners are anti-semites. I also read several comments in Jeff Eats about the same thing.
I ate there once. The food was okay as was the service.
Based on what I was told and have read I wouldn’t set foot in this restaurant again.
If you know anything about good NY kosher style deli, you’ll want to stay away from Too Jay’s and 3G’s. Prices are good but the food is absolute garbage.
A word to the wise, whatever you do, don’t eat at Jerry’s Famous Deli in South Beach. It is overpriced garbage and that’s no lie. It’s strictly for tourists and drunks who don’t klnow any better.
Dawn-You got me to laugh about Jerry Famous. A few yrs ago I was staying at the Ritz in Miami and I thought I would bring in some great deli from Jerrys. A few sandwiches a soda, latke etc. The price was outrageous. The food very average and way overpriced. I used to love that deli in Miami Beach, (I cannot remember the name) but Neil Rogers used to go crazy about the place. It was not Rascal House or Wolfies BTW. They say Jerrys is huge in Southern CA?
I wont say the place is lousy but I had issues at Mortons several times in Boca and Vegas. I order the porterhouse and the thing is purple. After a few more times to the kitchen it is complete shoe leather. It is a tough steak to cook but they specialize in it.
The Jerry’s in L.A. is excellent. As mentioned earlier the Jerry’s in South Beach is for tourists, drunks and I would add transvestites and prostitutes.
jeff this is a tough one. there are so many bad restaurants to list that it would take days to dig up all the names. one that i know for sure is prime 112 in miami. it’s famous but right after my wife and i ate there my american express card number was being used all over the internet. definitely one of the employees stole the number. i got in for this place.
For those looking for a top steakhouse avoid at all cost capital grille which has several fl locations. the food is mediocre and the prices high. for the same money there are loads of really good steakhouses.
Folks,
Florida has good and bad restaurants. It’s all a matter of degrees.
If you like good NYC type deli, you don’t go to Too Jays, 3 Gs or any of the bagel stores. You go to Zinger’s or Pomperdale.
Check Jeff’s lists and you’ll get the good ones and bad ones.
Jake’s Stone Crabs in Boca is horrible. Rude, crude and horrible food. I’d rather have a filet of fish at McDonald’s that subjugate my family to that horror of a restaurant……
I’m going to assume that a load of our visitors are from NY. If that be the case, stay away from Too Jay’s deli. This chain is a second rate operation. Meats are sliced at a commissary and basically nothing is made fresh in the individual store location.
There is always hate against Toojays. When I pick up a roast beef sandwich there it is not bad. Everyone here hates Toojays and Smokey Bones. I had take out from Smokey and I always thought they were fine. I have never had any issues at Ruth Chris. Sometimes the server makes a meal better or worse as well. When I studied restaurant management one teacher had a theory about blowing people with the dessert. The idea is that people really remember the last part of the meal, especially the dessert. He always talked about serving food at proper temperature. Even a good cup of coffee can leave an impression on somebody.
Birds Nest Chinese in Delray… pretty bad stuff. Original Pancake house in Delray on US1… lousy food and service..stay with I Hop. Bad service and food. Bens on 441.. heard such good things but was very dissapointed by the quality of food. Thick and Thin Pizza.. a hole in the wall joint as Jeff would call it but good food and terrible service. Seasons 54..very bland food.. they do not have any butter in the place so don’t ask. Everyone was eating healthy but ordering drinks like crazy ! Old building and dark. Alexanders Steak on Glades. . good service but very mediocre food and they over cook most of it.. Could not get a medium prime rib after three tries.
My name is Jeff. I was born and bred in Brooklyn, New York. Since 1991, I have lived in South Florida and have eaten in so many restaurants down here, that I now consider myself to be a food expert.

Antonio’s Italian Restaurant in Deerfield Beach. Food is lousy. The place is filthy. The owners nasty bastards.
Have to agree with you.

Damiano Italian Restaurant in Boca Raton. Food is lousy. The place is loud. The help is incompetent.
If you know anything about good NY kosher style deli, you’ll want to stay away from Too Jay’s and 3G’s. Prices are good but the food is absolute garbage.
Put Poppies in Delray on that list it’s so bad
Gary Woo’s Chinese Restaurant in Boca Raton is not very good.
The one on Federal is terrible but the take out place on Yamato is excellent. Same owner. Go figure.
They have two different owners. Yamato has, excellent food.
Smokey Bones BBQ.
Food is lousy.
Tropical Acres has a big rep as a good steak restaurant. People rave about it. The food is lousy and service stinks. Don’t waste your money.
Agree I’ve been there a few times and it’s nothing special

You must be thinking of Pumpernicks.

Capital Grille has amazing crab cakes……
Oasis By The Sea on the Hollywood Boardwalk. VILE DISGUSTING FOOD.

Too many to name. Most are mediocre joints.
Can’t even begin to name the really rotten ones, but there are tons of them.
Jake’s Stone Crabs in Boca is horrible. Rude, crude and horrible food. I’d rather have a filet of fish at McDonald’s that subjugate my family to that horror of a restaurant……

They can’t even make a grilled cheese sandwich correctly.
Three G’s… I saw them slicing the pastrami.. standing there while it was being cut.
They slice the pastrami at the deli counter while you watch it.

Anthonys Coal Fired… Downtown Delray expensive and really not good. Very, very loud music and crowd.
Hurricane Wings… skinny, skimpy wings.
agree with you, hurricane’s wings are garbage.
Birds Nest Chinese in Delray… pretty bad stuff. Original Pancake house in Delray on US1… lousy food and service..stay with I Hop. Bad service and food.
