You know and I know that “Mom & Pop” pizza joints are a dime a dozen-down here in old South Florida. I think the way it works…the strip center landlord first signs Publix, then Walgreens, then a Chinese takeout, then a pizza joint, then a dry cleaners…then a —-(you fill in the blanks)….then half of the businesses go bust…
Anyway, the other evening, I gave Barone’s La Pizzeria a shot- and I gotta tell you, the food is real-good. Jeff Eats’ party did pizza, shrimp scampi, veal parmigiana, meat lasagna, chicken & shrimp alfredo, penne ala vodka—and like I just said, real good!
As you know– over the past few years, old Jeff Eats has eaten-in his fair share of “Mom & Pop” Italian joints…and, to be perfectly honest with you, most of them barely get the job done, but then again, that’s the nature of the beast…”cheap is cheap”….”you get what you pay for”…”one if by land, 2 if by sea.” Trust me on this one, Barone’s La Pizzeria is REAL GOOD…if you live or work near the joint, I highly recommend that you give it a try.
By the way, Barone’s La Pizzeria is right across Sample Road from the Seminole Casino Coconut Creek and is maybe a 3-minute drive (west) from the Festival Flea Market on Sample Road.
Barone’s La Pizzeria is open Sunday-Thursday 11am-10pm and Friday-Saturday 11am-11pm.
I work in the Flea Market. I have been stopping at La Pizzeria for years on my way home. It was recently redecorated so now it looks terrific but the food has always been excellent. This is a very good recommendation.
La Pizzeria has been there forever. Publix used to draw huge at Peppertreee but over the yrs showed it age and left to move down sample rd toward springs. They hung in there and now Winn Dixie put in a prototype store. The pizza has always been thin style and good. I havent had their other dishes in a long time.

This is a terrific restaurant. Lovely family operation with great food. I have been taking out/eating in for years.
Have been going to La Pizzeria for a long time. 15+ yrs. Let me tell you, these people know how to give value: fantastic quality food and generous portions. Family run-everyone is on the ball from ownres Rick and Lisa and their great kids. You will have an amazing experience eating here. 5 star in a strip mall- a real find……
My family has been eating there for 10 years. We have eaten all over and La Pizzeria is the best around. Love it’s food.
My family has been going to La Pizzeria for over 10 years. We have always enjoyed the food. Unfortunately things seem to have changed since the renovations and expansion. The food is still great but the service and portion sizes have detiorated to the point we now go elsewhere.
Have to agree with Kevin, family and I statred going in 1999 and loved it for a number of yrs, but quickly saw the change not long after the renovations. The air in the place has changed. The Food is good, not great like it use to be.
I can’t think of a better pizza joint. Been eating there over 15 years. Food s always great.

Last night my wife, I and another couple had dinner at La Pizzeria before stopping at the Seminole Casino.
To be perfectly honest with you it had been something like 2 year since I last ate there.
Just wanted you and everyone else to know, that all four of us found the food to be absolutely delicious. Now I’m getting old, but if memory serves me right, La Pizzeria back in 2010 was really good…based on last night’s meal that “really good” gets moved up to outstandingly good. Last night’s minestrone soup, house salad, veal franciase, veal parmigiana, chicken scarpariello, pizza were some of the best “mom & pop” red sauce stuff we have had in a very long time. The prices were right and the portions were huge. In addition, last night at 8pm every seat was filled including the private party room in the back.
As you may know, Jeff Eats eats in a load of different joints. I know good red sauce stuff when I eat it…based on last night’s outing La Pizzeria is right up there with best of breed.

La Pizzeria has been our place for years. Good solid food, huge portions and reasonable prices.
To tell you the truth, my wife and I would match it’s veal parm, pizza and other dishes up against any joint in the area.
Every time we have been there we leave satisfied and filled.
My wife and I have been eating at Barone’s for years.
The food is outstanding.
We have been to tons of other places but haven’t found any that come even close to quality, taste, protion size or price.
Barone’s is set back in a huge shopping center. Not visible from the road. Actually you got to know that’s there.
I’ve owned Lexus cars for years.
Over the years ,I’ve been to this shopping center numerous times, usually getting something to eat while my car is being serviced right next door.
You folks are so right about it being in the back, for the first 5 or so years that I went to the center I never even noticed Barone’s.
This place make the best NYC style slice that I’ve had in my 20 years in Florida.
I’ve had many of its dishes and not once was I ever disappointed.
The only problem that I have is that I live in Boynton Beach so the only real chance I get to go to Barone’s is when I’m in Coconut Creek for a car service .
For those of you who live close by and haven’t tried Barone’s do try it. It’s head and shoulders above all the rest.

My husband and I ate at Barone’s last night.
No question in my mind this is the best red sauce joint we have been to in Florida. My veal parm and his veal marsala were delicious?. Great garlic rolls.
This was our first dinner there but it definitely won’t be our last. We live in Boca so it’s a bit of a trip but well worth the time and effort to get there.

No doubt about it Barone’s is right up there with the best in the area.
My family had pizza, veal parm, a shrimp/ lobster special and penne ala vodka. Every dish was delicious. The portions were big and the service was terrific. The prices were all very reasonable.
I’m a regular Jeff Eats’ reader and this is definitely one of your best picks.
We will definitely be back.

Like you I love mom & pop Italian places. I literally could eat in one evry day. Ive been in loads of places from WPB to Miami Beach. There are loads of losuy ones and loads of very good ones.
Some of my favorites are Nino’s in Boca Raton, Augy’s in Boca Raton, Pizza Time in Coral Springs, Frank’s in Pompano Beach.
Of all the places I’ve eaten, I have to rank La Pizzeria as one of the best if not the best.

I’ve eaten there 4 times in the past 6 months. First 3 times food and service were terrific. Last outing, the garlic knots were cold and hard, the ziti marinara side was ice cold, the waiter brought the wrong soup, the waiter brought baked ziti out when lasagna was ordered, veal parmigiana was good as was the pizza. To say the least, the last visit wasn’t one for the record book. Will try again but not too happy with last meal.

My husband and I read about La Pizzeria in Jeff Eats. Based on Jeff we drove from Delray this past Saturday night to give it a try.
The house salad was very good.
The minestrone soup very very good.
The chicken supreme very very good.
The veal Marsala very good.
The garlic rolls were very very good.
The ziti marinara good but it was cold.
All in all a really nice, well served, well priced meal.

Friggin fantastic! Place was packed at 5:30 on Sunday (St Patricks day). We were seated and served quickly. Had the veal florintino which was delicious. Portion was huge! When this big boy from Brooklyn can’t finish, that oughta tell you something. We’ll definitely be back.
Ive eaten in red sauce joints all the way from the Keys to Orlando and I have to tell you that Barone’s is as good as it gets.
The portions are enormous.
