Two of the most iconic bands of the 1960’s and 1970’s, Gary Puckett & the Union Gap and The Grass Roots are coming together for one big night in Coral Springs! Their music continues to be played on oldies radio stations around the world, and they continue to tour and perform for their loyal fan base.

Gary Puckett & the Union Gap was a pop rock band from San Diego, California. They had a string of hit singles that included “Young Girl,” “Woman, Woman,” “Lady Willpower,” “Over You,” and “This Girl Is a Woman Now.” Their sound was characterized by Gary Puckett’s soaring vocals and the group’s tight harmonies. They were also known for their flamboyant stage costumes and elaborate choreography.

The Grass Roots was a rock band from Los Angeles, California. One of the most successful bands of the late 1960s and early 1970s, and known for their catchy melodies, lush harmonies, and driving rhythms, their timeless hit singles included “Let’s Live for Today,” “Sooner or Later,” “I’d Wait a Million Years,” “Midnight Confessions,” and “Two Divided by Love.”

Both bands continue to tour throughout the United States and Canada, and they also performed in Europe and Asia. They were staples on TV shows such as American Bandstand, Shindig!, and The Ed Sullivan Show.

  1. Saw The Grass Roots a few weeks ago at Casino@Dania Beach, The band was terrific.

A year or so ago, I saw Gary Puckett at Coral Springs Center, sorry to say that Gary’s voice isn’t what it use to be. Gary was very entertaining and I enjoyed him, but his voice is shot.

My wife and I saw the Grass Roots at the Dania Beach Casino a few weeks ago. Although there were no original members the band was great. We also saw Puckett with Peter Noone at Coral Springs Center a year ago and Noone was terrific while Puckett was very personable but his voice isn’t like it was back in the 60s.

During the past 6 months my husband and I have seen both groups in concert, No question, both have a number of hits and the audience seemingly knows every song they sing,

The Grass Roots have 4 players. Not one of them is an original band member. The current group has been together for a number of years and does really good job in covering the hits.

As for Gary Puckett who is 80+ his voice is totally shot. The great voice that he had is totally gone and he relies on the audience to sing parts of the songs to try and cover up for the voice that’s no more.

The crazy part of this concert story is that my husband and I and the rest of the audience LOVED the show. All of the hits and the audience really getting into the music makes for a fun nostalgic trip back to the 60s.

    Saw both groups last year.
Although the GR aren’t original members, the current lineup puts on a great show.
As for Gary Puckett, his voice is GONE and I do mean totally GONE. I loved him years ago, but it’s now time for Gary to call it quits.
