***** Maria’s Greek Restaurant, 2359 Coral Way, Miami, Florida 33145, (305) 856-0938.

OK-Greek joint.

Nice sized portions. Reasonable prices. Friendly service.

Recently did dinner at Maria’s…gyro platter ($12.95 pita bread/tzatziki/greek salad/French fries), mousaka ($14.50 pita bread/rice/vegetables), pastitsio ($13.95 pita bread/rice/vegetables)…like I said 3 seconds ago, an OK-Greek joint. Real simple, decent enough food…but if Maria’s was in my neighborhood it wouldn’t be my go-to- Greek joint!

Just so we are straight with each other–what Jeff Eats loves you might hate and vice versa. I kinda found the gyro on the salty side, the pastitsio bland, but really enjoyed the pita-greek salad-tzatziki-mousaka…so taking this “thing” one step further, if I had only tried the pita-greek salad-tzatziki-mousaka Jeff Eats would be a Maria’s fan, but I didn’t- so Maria’s gets just an OK from this-boy! You guys do see how subjective this whole food-reviewing gig is-don’t you?

You can check menu/prices/other stuff at marias-greek.com.

Maria’s Greek Restaurant is open Monday-Saturday 11am-10pm, Saturday 5pm-10pm, closed Sunday.

I used to work in Coconut Grove, about five minutes away from Maria’s. We’d go there for lunch at least twice a week. The stuffed peppers there are fantastic! All of the food is good, and the service was as friendly as could be. The only problem is finding street parking during the workday. Not as much of a problem during the dinner hour, since that area really quiets down after 5:30 p.m.

If you are in the area, you should definitely give Maria’s a shot.

    Jeff Eats,
One of the few food blogs or for that matter food critics that calls it like it really is.
You correctly point out that what you like maybe totally different than what some reader likes.
There are way too many food blogs and reviewers who think that their taste is the best.
