Got a really good–casual–reasonably priced French joint for you…Cafe De France in Delray Beach.

Yes! Your tee shirt/shorts/flip flop ensemble will work there.

Check www.110carpediem.com for menu/prices. There is both indoor and outdoor patio seating.

If “couponing” is your game, www.southfloridines.com -got a $15 gets you $30 deal going.

A recent dinner outing had me “sampling”…onion soup, chicken cordon bleu, duck a l’orange, braised lamb osso bucco, tilapia provencal. Let me make this brief- one of the best onion soups I’ve had in a very–very long time– absolutely loved the chicken cordon bleu, same for the duck.

This joint is a homerun.

Cafe De France is opened 7 days a week…9am-11am (breakfast), 11am-4:30pm (lunch), 4:30pm-11pm (dinner).

***** Buena Vista Deli, 4590 Northeast 2nd Avenue, Miami, Florida 33137, (305) 576-3945.

Let’s- start this one off, with you guys checking this American/French-deli’s website www.buenavistadeli.com for menu/prices. Go ahead, I’ll wait!

Just so we are straight–although it calls itself a D E L I…Buena Vista is not like the typical schmendrick deli-joints that dot the South Florida landscape. If chocolate bobka, pastrami on rye, potato knishes, chopped liver with onions-are your game—Buena Vista is not your bag.

For our purposes, we’re gonna call this joint a YUPPIE-DELI-WITH A FRENCH FLAIR… Although Vista’s menu is somewhat limited, there are enough breakfast items, salads, sandwiches, panini, breads/pastries–so no-one is gonna go home starving. A recent outing had me doing—chicken quiche ($4.95), turkey/swiss on French baquette ($6.95), roast beef panini ($7.95), chocolate almond crossiant ($3.50), coffee eclair ($3.50). I enjoyed everything, with a special shout-out to the crossiant and eclair.

Like I said before, something different from the “standard” bagel-deli game. Buena Vista has both indoor and patio seating.

It’s good to be a YUPPIE now and then.

Buena Vista is open 7 days a week 7am-9pm.

h Restaurant is a “mom & pop” French restaurant located in Sunny Isles Beach. You can get menu/prices/loads of photos at www.thehrestaurant.com.

Let me cut right to the chase…you gotta try this joint–the food is terrific and reasonably priced. Let’s call the menu eclectic—h Restaurant calls itself a FRENCH RESTAURANT–but in addition to all kinds of French “dishes”–its got pizzas, burgers, sandwiches, salads, meat-seafood-chicken entrees, which have nothing to do with France. Which reminds me of the old joke…Why is the Avenue des Champs Elysees lined with huge shade oak trees? Because—they don’t want the marching German troops to get overheated…badom!

h Restaurant is open 7 days a week and does breakfast-lunch-dinner. I recently did dinner… in no particular order–onion soup, cheeseburger, pizza, chicken marsala, veal piccata, seafood au gratin, shrimp & scallops provencal. Like I said before, the food is top-notch. Every dish that I tried was delicious, with the onion soup being one of the best that I have had in a very-very long time.

Try this joint, it is really good.

Do you know why the Avenue de Chames-Elysees is lined with enormous-shade-oak trees?…So the marching German troops don’t get over-heated.

Anyway…La Sandwicherie is an absolutely dynamite “French Sandwich” joint…check its website www.lasandwicherie.com for menu/prices. By the way, you won’t need 3 years of high school French to figure out that… La Sandwicherie is really just a “sub-grinder-hero” joint playing the French “angle”… When you check its menu, you’ll be greeted by all your American favorities like, roast beef, turkey, tuna… nothing French about most of its stuff…prices are neighborhood-sub joint prices.

By the way, my taste-test consisted of two sandwiches… lettuce/tomato/onions/ mayo/ham/turkey-sub and a grilled toast with ham & swiss… and a caesar salad.

La Sandwicherie makes some great sandwiches and salads…throw in a juice-bar and gourmet coffees and you got everything that “clubbers” and the rest of us need…as the joint is open 7 days a week 10am-5am.
