* Two Wrongs Don’t Make A Right–Sweet Monkey Frozen Yogurt & Cupcakes

Printed below is an e-mail that Jeff Eats received today from a self serve frozen yogurt/cupcake franchise named Sweet Monkey Frozen Yogurt & Cupcakes…it made me laugh and I thought I’d share it with you guys.

So…if Jeff Eats got it right, Sweet Monkey is trying to peddle franchises that combine frozen yogurt and cupcakes under one-roof!

Like I said at the start of this thing, two wrongs don’t make a right.

To the guys peddling this “thing”…because you got a cute circus decor– more flavors/toppings than the competition with a cupcake kicker-to boot—-doesn’t mean that you got a franchisable concept. Nothing for nothing, and since Jeff Eats has no skin in this game—I really do wish you a load of success, but personally, you guys are so late to the “party” that it isn’t even funny. If you haven’t noticed, self serve yogurt stores and cupcake stores-are literally on every American corner and most recently a number of them have “Closed For Good” signs on their front doors.

  3. Ralph K. says...

Jeff, they have 4 stores. amazing that they would even try and franchise this deal. all it is is self serve yogurt joint gussied up with décor and cupcakes. nothing special here.

  4. Ken G (Wellington) says...

    They are kidding aren’t they?
The are combining two fads which have already finished their runs.

  5. Mark Levine says...

Hey Jeff Eats, did you see the articles that Sbarro’s is now launching a gourmet pizza concept? Any thoughts on that one?

  6. ken W. says...

There is a cupcake and yogurt shop in Delray on the Ave.They can get together and join a new fad.

  7. Lou Stoll says...

Anyone who buys this franchise deserves to lose their money. There is nothing original nor special about this business. All they are doing is combining to fading concepts into one huge disaster.

    are they joking?

Funny thing is, I pursued their license agreement and found that they had no consistency to their operations, store designs or product offerings. Even so, I still pursued further since one of the partners, Mike Hudson, was amenable to many changes in their agreement and granting independent freedoms to me as a licensee. However, the more his partner Jim Miller, who is referenced above, got involved in the negotiations and execution of the contract, the more shady the deal became. His high pressure approach without consideration or obedience to contract law and state/federal business law transactional proceedings quickly soured the deal. I pulled out before executing on the license agreement. I would highly warn anymore that as long as Jim Miller is part of Sweet Monkey’s partnership, that avoid entering any agreement with the organization.

I have previously worked at this company and you are correct. Jim Miller is not a very good person. Very manipulative and gets very angry when things go his way. To tell you the truth I have no idea how any of the stores continue to be open. Between the rude service and the store being empty 75 percent of the time.

Sweet Monkey opened at a mall near us in Forsyth County 6 months ago and is already closed. Rumor is that it is “in litigation”.

    • Robin says...

Litigation for what, they had three stores that were all open, the newest in Cummings brand new 10 Months, Atlanta, 2 years, Buiford 3 years,
What are you talking about?. Closed in 6 Months?????? The only problem was between partners, no violations, no litigation. The business they did was unbelievable, I know because I tried to buy them and met with their accountants.
Sad people have to say bad things that are not true and things they know nothing about. Move On!!!!

I worked at the sweet monkey in forsyth county this past summer and it was terrible. The cupcakes weren’t good they treated their staff terribly and there were a lot of health code violations in the bakery. I’m glad they shut down.

    • Robin says...

Baking Beauty if you worked at Sweet Monkey last summer, then perhaps you were the staff member that treated us rudely. I checked with the City and they have No Healthy violations against them, ever. They did not shut down because of Health Codes. Also, not because of lack of business revenue, I had my accountants look into the possibility of buying the stores, since one of the partners was very unethical, and by the way it was not the one you said ‘TAMPAINVESTOR’, SO YOU READ THAT WRONG.
They had a great thing going, but the one partner would not release his shares for me to buy the stores. So what I saw “jeffeats” there business was soaring which made one partner very greedy, again, “TAMPAINVESTOR” YOU READ IT WRONG. ‘JEFFEATS” JUST BECAUSE YOU EAT IN A LOT OF RESTAURANTS DOES NOT MAKE YOU AN EXPERT. FIND SOMETHING ELSE TO DO THEN BLOG ON OTHER PEOPLE’S BUSINESS. THEY WORKED HARD AND HAD A GREAT PRODUCT, AND WERE VERY SUCCESSFUL. I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED I COULD NOT PURCHASE THE STORES. MOVE FORWARD!!!!!! GET A JOB!

      • Robin says...

“TAMPAINVESTOR” YOU READ IT WRONG. Plus, I heard you were the scam looking for papers to take to a bank and get financed and not purchase!! Scam artist, they would not give you the right without down payment that is why you are talking trash!! Guarantee you have not bought anything!,

You all are too rough on someone working hard to build their dream, it’s not easy to build a business, instead of poking at others, wouldn’t it be more productive to work on something positive? Menchie’s is almost a 1,000 stores and according to these comments, the yogurt business should be gone 2 years ago. Move forward!
