***** Saquella Caffe, 410 Via De Palmas, Boca Raton, Florida 33432, (561) 338-8840

The other day I was in the Royal Palm Plaza…Boca Ratonians “know” this outdoor shopping center as the Pink Plaza. The landlord and unfortunately many of its tenants, know that this mediterranean style center- which happens to be Boca Raton’s oldest center, is an absolute white elephant…suffice it to say, over the years, tenants have come and gone–at an amazing rate…but, that’s a whole-nother story for another day.

Anyway…Saquella Caffe is one of the very few “Pink Plaza” businesses that has successfully managed to build an enormous-steady clientele. The joint has both indoor and outdoor patio seating and does breakfast-lunch-dinner. If you check www.saquella-usa.com you will find a reasonably priced menu of breakfast items, sandwiches, flat breads, salads, meat/chicken/seafood entrees, desserts.

As I mentioned before, I was there the other day…tried, blueberry waffle ($6.99), chicken waldorf/muesli toast ($9.99), greek salad ($10.95), nova smoked salmon salad ($11.99)—let me go out on a limb here, the food served-the decor-the service…ran absolute circles around most of my favorite South Florida bagel-deli “close” at 3pm joints.

Rather than racking my brain to describe the decor-atmosphere…conjur up a Woody Allen Italian/French cafe-bistro and you’ll be on target. By the way, at the website that I just gave you, there are decor-photos/video, so if you are from Mars or Pluto and have never caught a Woody Allen film–you won’t be out of the loop. Just so you know, your shorts/tee shirts work here as this is one cool-easy going joint.

Let me wrap this up…I absolutely loved Saquella.

Saquella Cafe is open Monday-Wednesday 7am-9pm, Thursday=Saturday 7am-11pm, Sunday 7am-4pm.

    jeff,
surprised that you hadn’t found this one by now. talk about a hidden gem. i have been eating their breakfasts and lunches for years.
as you mentioned great looking woody allen looking surroundings not your typical florida bagel place.
the food is always delicious and their espresso is outstanding.

Saquella draws an International clientele and is more of a coffee/cafe rather than a “bagel or deli joint”.

They can be found on facebook as well as on the Royal Palm Place website.

No offense….can’t stand this place. I have given it a try every now and then over the past few years hoping that it has improved. Their food is nothing special, in fact over priced for the quality and quantity. And service….SLOW!!!!! If you want something, you need to go up to the bar to get it yourself. Oh, and coffee is very watery. Not European at all (except for the lack of service). If you have a lot of time on your hands and don’t care about taste, then this place is for you. Sorry to be such a downer.

Had lunch there today. Food is very food.
    Service a bit spotty.
    Prices okay.
Best thing, they squeeze frsh orange juice right on the spot. This alone is worth a visit.

correct, one of the very few spots in fl where you can get a real glass of fresh squeezed oj. they have the machine right there on the front counter. when you drink fresh you can taste the difference from the juice you get in whole foods etc which is advertised as fresh.

      • BOBBY G. says...

their fresh orange juice is the best around.

  7. Chuck says...

that glass of fresh orange juice is worth the price of admission alone. it beats the “fresh” in containers by a mile.

    charming place with great food.

Went there this evening with my husband.
Outside there was one empty table and I asked the hostess to please have it cleared. She said fine and then it took close to 10 minutes for the bus girl to clean it. We sat down and the table had no settings. We waited another 10 minutes and no waitress. After 10 minutes another couple sat next to us and about 30 seconds later the waitress appeared and took their drink order while totally ignoring us. We got up and left. This place stinks.

I had a similar thing happen to me.
      The service is very unprofessional.
I enjoy their food but this Woodstock type hippie service isnt for me.
      I dont go there anymore.

Love the food. Everything is made to order and as fresh as can be. No question though, sometimes the service is on the shaky side.
